It is Halumi, from one of the greatest games of all time, L.O.L. Lack Of Love, on the Dreamcast. It looks a little bit like Chibi Robo, so I hope noone makes that mistake :)

I'll try my best to take cute girls playing with Drinky :D

Do you accept members from overseas ? The hype surrouding the DPC has reached the UK, and I for one would love to join.

I am a masterful dog handler, and I have trained my own dog to kill cats, of which she has mauled 3 to death.....I hope and pray that the DPC will allow me to exercise such violent traits towards cats.
 
Apparently, some lucky Japanese non-gamers were able to get their hands on a copy of the non-game, Nintendogs, today. I'm hopefully getting mine tomorrow. I won't be able to give you any gameplay impressions because there is no game, but I should be able to give you some kind of impressions of this software. Will I be the first Drinky Puppy owner? :D

Today is the week. This is what we've been waiting for. I pre-ordered the Shiba version a few weeks ago from NCSX. Cant wait to get it :(

Yeah the club's orders had to be moved from Lik-Sang to NCSX because Lik-Sang did not want to ship to 7 different addresses even after I paid them in full.

I hope NCS ships without any problems

This whole thing started on my birthday... during the two days I wasn't on GAF.

This caused me to miss my chance to join the club!

(Well, at least my affordable chance to join...)

I suppose I'll have to wait for the U.S. release, then...
 
Drinky Ram journal entry #1

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the world's first Drinky Puppy.

(not the real Drinky, but a Nintendo replica).

A male Yorkshire Terrier, shy in nature, was given the name Drinky tonight at around 8pm JST. He has learnt to respond to his name and he will also obey the "sit" command. He's such an adorable thing, I just had to share him with you all. I don't have much time to play with him tonight, but I'll be sure to teach him some new tricks tomorrow.
 
Damn, it's 2:30am... I can't stop playing with my little Drinky. He's so cute when he drinks water from the bowl. I haven't managed to teach him to lift his paw up yet... what do you usually say in English for that? I've kind of forgotten because I've been in Japan so long (where they just say "o te").
 
Ok Johnny Ram, answer those questions very carefully:

- Are we, occidental demons, going to be able to get around in the game without any knowledge of japanese?

- They only understand Japanese? I remember hearing that you could teach them to sit/whatever by using other words, so i guess, we could use Sit instead?

You'll need some guidance - I'll help out where I can. Once you've gone through the tutorial (10 screens or so), everything is done by icons rather than text. There's a few training books too, but I'll try to help out where possible. May as well jot the flow down while I remember...

First thing you have to do is choose your dog. Top option is "buy", bottom option is "check out the pet shop's special dogs". You can feel up the dogs with the second option and see which breed you like the look of. Choose the top one to pick your dog. You choose male/female too. If you don't know ♀ is female, ♂ is male.

Second thing you have to do is give it a name. There's a bunch of screens but you don't need to start speaking until the mic icon appears on screen. You record your dog's name three times. After that you just test it by calling it.

Third thing you do is teach your dog how to sit. You'll have the dog sat in front of you and you are told to stroke, from the top of the head, down across the face, quite quickly. When he sits, you can record a command to associate with that.

For both the name, and the commands, after you have recorded the voice part, a text input screen will come up so you can enter the dog's name or command name.

Both voice and text can be done in English, don't worry ;)

You can say anything, I think. The software has pretty good speech recognition, but don't push it. I don't think it would work, for example, if you call your puppy Drinky, then ask it to sit down using "brinky" or something.

Drinky Crow feels that this is not a game, and therefore it should not be located in the Gaming Discussion section of the Gaming-Age Forums.
 
I'm going to move this back to the Gaming forum. :p It's kind of pointless to have this in OT when many of the people who are interested in it don't even visit OT. Drinky, please understand!

But it's like, you know when you're dealing with a temper tantrum kid in a store, and you just don't want to be caught with him as you may get embarrased, knowing he's older than you and he is acting the child? You've tried reasoning to him that he just can't always get what he wants, but are always unsuccessful in drilling into the thick skull?
