Funny, only partially relevant story.
Our dog and cat have a very complex relationship. Initially, the dog, Sprocket, could not be calm around the cat, D'Arcy. She had to chase her around the house. So the cat would spend most of her time outside.
After a couple of years, they started to get along a little more. Sprocket could see D'Arcy and not want to chase her down, pin her to the ground, and lick her head (although she did occasionally attempt to indulge in this). Sometimes she'd try to start a fight by bopping D'Arcy with her snout, which usually ended up getting a cat claw stuck in the spongy part of her nose. Always amusing.
So I'm talking to my brother, who still lives out there, the other night. He tells me that he was going to give her a chewy, and she was pretending to not want it. So he says to her, "Well, I'll give it to D'Arcy then" and holds it in front of the cat. Sprocket, unexpectedly, FLIPS OUT ON THE CAT. Totally freaks. Starts going nuts barking at her and tearing after her all over the house. Power struggle.
He says that if Sprocket's in the other room, all he has to do is shout, "D'Arcy, what are you doing?" and Sprocket will instantly jump to attention and tear through the house and finds the cat, and confirms what she is doing.
