I began playing the game on Friday at my brother's place on his PS3, and played all weekend there. Sunday night, I saved my save files on a USB stick.
Got home, copied the saves onto my system, loaded them up, and...
It says I can play the saves, but I can't get any trophies, and more importantly, I can't save any progress. Basically renders them useless. It says the owner of the saves hasn't given permission for them to be used for saving or some BS along those lines.
Is there any remedy for this or do I have to lose all my progress and start a new game?

The things we do for gaming....

Both versions running at 720pPerhaps the most striking is the marked blurriness to the PS3's image quality in general, particularly on textures. This is not a streaming issue - although each console displays instances of those - but instead something that affects every texture in the game despite the artwork being of equivalent quality to the 360's.
Fortunately, both the PS3 and 360 run at the full, promised 1280x720 native resolution. With the possibility of a sub-HD scenario ruled out, we can turn to the next potential culprit for the lack of clarity to the PS3 image: the anti-aliasing methods chosen by each platform.
Regarding object detail, there's a reduction in the complexity of trees and plant models on Sony's hardware, with branches being culled outright from trees to reduce CPU load.
There's a disparity in draw distance settings too (or object fade as it's referred to in the PC's advanced settings) which comes across as a larger issue. In our "walk-forward" shots on each console, we see the 360 draws in objects from much farther afield, with some rocky formations refusing to swap in on PS3 until the player walks forward a few seconds more.
Shadows are the next big distinguishing point between the two console versions. Up close, there's a certain softness to the 360's implementation which may lead some to prefer the PS3's crisper, more defined look.
By comparison, the PS3's shadows do take a turn for the worse when putting distance between your character and smaller objects, such as NPCs or minor foliage. Compared to the 360, these look significantly pared down and tend to flicker quite noticeably on camera movement, which can be a distraction.
The more eagle-eyed may have also noticed that in some of the comparison shots, shadows appear to be completely absent, or pared back on PS3.
Results are very much as predicted: the 360 resumes its previous strategy of building the experience around a fairly consistent 30FPS update, although it is prone to dropping v-sync where necessary. On the PS3, the complete opposite is true, whereby it's determined to bear the brunt of these frame-rate drops in order to keep v-sync engaged. The basic difference, then, is that one tears under strain, and the other produces a perceptible judder in equivalent situations.
... a colleague has switched over to the Xbox 360 version after 18 hours of play on PlayStation 3, describing the difference as "revelatory" and the reports from other gamers make for some grim reading.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-16-skyrim-players-call-for-ps3-save-file-bug-fixPlayStation 3 owners have called on Bethesda to fix a bug currently making their version of Skyrim unplayable for some.
Gamers on Bethesda's forum, Eurogamer and Reddit have reported a bug that occurs when save files exceed a certain size, currently pegged at around 6MB.
After that point, the PS3 version suffers from lag and, according to some players, eventually becomes unplayable.
GamesIndustry.biz senior staff writer Dan Pearson, who has played the PlayStation 3 version of Skyrim extensively, has confirmed the bug.
Gamers have found restarting the game and resetting the timer temporarily fixes the problem, but as the game is played the issue returns.
Good it's being brought up in the gaming media. This is a large problem with gaming outlets that cover various consoles. They focus on just one and copy and paste the review to others. Sometimes, many times, it's better to look and see what outlets that focus on one company (Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft) have to say to get a better picture on a particular version of a game before release. Speaking of which did any Sony only focused (PS3, PS2, PSP, Vita, PSN) gaming sites review the game? Did they even bring this up?Saty said:

I'm only using 2 save files so far. Performance has been much, much better than Oblivion and the Fallouts at the moment.
I think this has to do with the game autosaving when going into the menu. You can turn that option off in the settings.matics said:I have a pretty strange issue that I haven't seen mentioned in my quick skim through this thread/google searching (360 version):
My d-pad sometimes doesn't work after opening the favorites menu or the character (B) menu. I'll press up (or B) to pull up either menu and immediately after, the d-pad won't respond until I use the left thumbstick to start scrolling first.
Nothing big at all, really minor annoyance actually, but figured I'd throw it out there.
Sorry to hear about all these performance issues on the PS3. Really sucks.
Philthy said:Anyone know if Walmart will let me bring back my opened PS3 version and exchange it for a 360 version? Still got the receipt, etc. I normally wouldn't give a shit, and I hate my 360, but this is basically my game of the decade. I absolutely love it enough to warrant a better experience. It was perfectly fine for 15 hours or so, but.. the textures are loading in blurry sometimes, and the draw distance seems to not load in like it used to. Out of the box the game was perfect, nice and sharp, see for miles, but now its like the engine is choking on something it shouldn't be.
That said, I'm still not following the comparison videos and writeups between the versions, because it is apparent both versions have serious bugs. I am confident the PS3 is every bit as detailed and as good as the 360 version if they got this all patched up. But we haven't heard a single thing about them getting a patch out ASAP so I'm sort of pissed.

Shitty shitty engine
tusken77 said:I prefer the look of the PS3 version. Also, importantly, zero screen tearing. I'm being patient and holding fire on buying it on PS3 until details of a patch are released or people already playing find a proven way to combat the issue. I've been slightly encouraged so far by hearing from several who have developed their own routines to improve the performance.
Philthy said:Right, the first 15 or so hours the game looked brilliant. Now the textures are loading incorrectly, etc and it looks like it does in the comparison videos. Originally it looked dead on to the 360 version being shown without the texture issue. The non-screen tearing IS very nice, and it drove me freaking nuts on the 360 version of Oblivion.
It's just frustrating not seeing any word on a fix that should have been released by now.
Judging from past games, they probably aren't going to fix the issue. I hope I'm wrong though. My save just crossed 5mb so I'm almost there. As soon as the game gets unplayable to me, I'm just going to trade it in and wait for a cheap Steam sale.KorrZ said:Well 40 hours, level 30 and with a 13mb save. The Ps3 version is almost unplayablethe frame rate has become so bad constantly that it's like a slideshow, completely ruining any sense of immersion in the game and making the combat beyond frustrating. For now, it's mainly limited to in cities and out in the world, in dungeons the framerate is okay. But I just know the longer I go on it's just going to get worse and worse.
So question GAF, should I get rid of the PS3 copy and switch to 360, or try and wait for a patch in the hopes that they'll fix it.
I'm really hesistant to lose 40 hours of gameplay especially when i have 80 destruction, 90 enchanting and 100 smithing and many other skills in their 50's but at the same time I don't want to put anymore time into it if I know I'm going to have to restart![]()

For anyone that wants to try, you can rebuild the PS3 database. Just give it a quick google. I usually do it every 3-4 weeks.
Go to another gaming forum. Not even those bleeding heart [censored] at NeoGaf are paying attention to this, you'll find one or two posts complaining in the middle of 100s from the people playing the other versions of the game.
""Hello there,
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing lagging issues with your PS3. This is an issue that Bethesda are aware of, and are always trying to combat.
At the moment, could you try clearing you cashe?
You can do this by going to the PS3 dashboard > Games > Game Data Utility > and deleting any cashe to do with Skyrim.
This often clears up space and helps deal with the lagging issue.
Other than that, the coming update should also help resolve these matters.
We apologise for any inconvenience, and we hope you can enjoy the game, as intended.
Kind Regards,
Francesca, Bethesda Technical Support
