The Extreme Fever Peggle XBLA Offical Thread

I think it's moreso the leaderboards for me. Peggle's great on PC, but now being able to see your friend's scores on some levels makes you get into that Geometry Wars score war mode. "Oh, how did he do that?" and so forth.

whoo #1 on the adventure leaderboard :D

I'd like to take this time to personally thank you for killing my weekend.

After I saw you ranked first I started adventure mode again, and now I'm stuck in ADD high score hell, continually restarting each board unless I score over 400,000. I actually had to go back to RE5 just to relaxingly kill zombies away from the stressful Peggle! :lol

Yeah leaderboards and multiplayer are a pretty huge deal. Doing best-of-7 duels with friends can be insanely fun. And this is coming from someone who has both the PC version (+Nights) and Peggle DS.

Damn...I wish you could save peggle shots in the 360 version!

I just had an epic shot online...it was amazing. It is the map where the blue and orange balls crisscross each other in the middle back and forth.

I shot to the side...hit the ball off some blue and orange balls then the edge of the bucket, it hopped up perfectly as the balls were crisscrossing...and my peggle ball kept on riding it to the top. I got around 400K off the one shot and easily won the 100K achievement.

Shot currently ranks 26 all time on the peggle party leaderboard...need to get higher!

My favorite Challenges have always been the simple Beat X In A Row challenges. Just simple fun and you will get to level 10/10 and lose and you will cry. Vs. Master challenges in this version seem even ore ridiculous than PC. Seriously the master shots make master hu look like some fool randomly firing. Have to basically get great #1-2 shots and then just bide your time and make some great shots when the CPU inevitably blocks off all the oranges.

Eric WK has a replay with a very similar thing. It was awe inspiring. Purt near brought a tear to my eye.

Hmm, yeah I just took a look and I suppose that must be it. It feels different to me (like the DS version was lacking the arc, but that's not true) but that just may be the smaller screen with the full-screen guide. The physics do differ though. Also in the DS version you can't aim the guide quite as high on the left and right as in the XBLA/PC versions. It's all super subtle stuff I suppose but playing XBLA was like re-learning Peggle again after I beat Peggle and Nights and the Peggle challenges (not the Nights challenges yet, those are a bitch) on the DS.

One small thing I love about the DS version is the aggressive character portraits on the Vs. screen--looks like a fighting game or something, pretty awesome.

I got the Triple Balls achievement this weekend. Talk about a fist pumping moment. Got the Purple Double Ball, ball bounces....bounces.....bounnnncessss....

BUCKET MOTHERFUCKER.

Which do you prefer? I haven't even been able to play my DS version yet.

Different strokes for different occasions. I would say that the DS version is easier because of the guide and just in general the aiming and scoring just feels a tad easier otherwise because of things like Underground mode which basically gives you a free ball or two and 50k or so every adventure mode stage. It is tons of fun though and really perfect for on the go, plus has about twice the content.

XBLA is great to play at home in HD sight & sound. The duel modes and peg party mode, though simple, are also very entertaining, especially with friends.

ok this is isn't funny anymore. challenge 5-1. completed with ultra extreme fever at least 3 times. score always 1 to 5k short of the 350k. sigh

Typical Peggle Party with friends: Okay best out of 5. Okay one more. Best out of 7. One more. Okay okay, best out of 9. ONE MORE! etc etc..

This.

I don't think there has been any other game where fist pumping and rejoicing have been so prevalent in our home. I thought I could sneak in 10-20 mins of this game last night and had to force myself to turn it off at 1am.

I would recommend people trying to do this to use the Spooky ball on 1-1. Fire directly into the morass of pegs and aim at one of the green pegs. Your opening shot should get you either purple or yellow and you have a pretty decent chance at a bucket finish as well.

Also, Spooky Ball + Das Bucket, fire hard left first shot and you have a decent chance at mega points + triple balls.

If not, Beyond Reason high score is a good way to do it.

So I introduced my GF the first time to Peggle and now she is keeping my X360 to play it. Fuck, that didnt work out too well. She even beat adventure mode before I did, totally wtf.

I played the DS version again and it seemed like the physics are different in both games. Am I just imagining things?

Yeah, Beyond Reason + Luck is the way most go for high scores. I don't really like just futzing around with the ball though so I quite love Renfield on Das Bucket. You can Super Long Shot from side to side, get Spooky, Extreme Slide, then hopefully pick up another Spooky along the way and nail the purple peg, plus Orange Attack and probably another 50k or so in assorted bonuses. Get you to 350k plus no problem on your first shot.

That's how I worked it on PC, haven't messed around with any high-score stuff on this version yet, just working through the challenges and playing multi with friends.

Yep, was just commenting on this above.

Nope. DS version's ball is has more weight (or the environment's gravity is higher, take your pick).

I told my wife about peggle and she looked at me funny. Now she is almost done with adventure mode. This game is incredible.

Give her Zuma and you'll never see her again.

how.

How.

HOW DO YOU RAGEQUIT IN *PEGGLE*!?!?!

It's PEGGLE MOTHERFUCKER!

...yeah so I had somebody ragequit on me. In Peggle. Not my fault he wouldn't take the impossible shot that threw me into Ultra Extreme Fever mode giving me the win over his insurmountable lead.

It was so awesome, and then he disconnected. Dude.

I was explaining this to a friend just yesterday in the same exact way - how in the HELL would you quit in Peggle, when it's a game of this nature... hell, you might even come back and pull off a win - I've done that many many times already...

There are just those kind of pussies out there in gaming that'll quit in anything no matter what...

Haha, she tried the demo before we found luxor on the arcade disc, she didnt seem too keen for some reason... I thought zuma was much more fun than luxor personally, but they're both caffeine and peggle is crack.

Next to last game of the night.

I rock Renfield and somebody had the Owl. First round. He goes for the green peg, but is blocked just barely by a blue one. I then bounce from one end of the level to the other where the green peg was and proceed to go all spooky. Rolled down one side of pegs, fell through the pit, bounced to the other side and rolled down the other side of pegs + bucket shot for 120k points.

Second round. He's aiming for the second green peg, but is going about it all wrong. I tell him to use the blue peg slightly above it, not the orange one with a higher chance to fly over it. He tells me to fuck off and takes the shot. He gets his one (1) orange peg. And nothing else. I sigh loudly and shoot the blue peg, hit the green one, and before I can go all spooky again he disconnects.

And then afterward I get a rather loud message accusing me of using cheat codes. And being negatively black. Nevermind that you can pretty much make the ball go where you want on the first and maybe second bounce without any further assistance. At any rate I should really change my NXE avatar. Then again it does look handsome and jaunty, so nah.

In short, not even Peggle can keep the XBL factor at bay.

Any DLC planned for later?

It says "Download Content" So I'd imagine so. They'd be stupid not to. They've been releasing free additional Peggle packs via their website for Peggle Nights.

I want to see a Peggle Extreme styled add-on with Master Chief, Gears, and other Microsoft properties :)

Peggle is sort of ragequit-proof for reasonable people (which I realize is about 5% of people on XBL) b/c you just go "meh, luck" regardless of what happens if it's bad for you. If it's good for you, you soak in your skillful excellence.

It is very ragequit friendly as a single-player experience though.

Going through the challenges right now, gonna save the Tri-Duels for last, the CPU is just cheap as hell. I could be misremembering but feels even cheaper than the PC version. Only challenges I never really liked were the duel challenges.

As far as DLC yes, they have said there will definitely be DLC. Only question is whether it will go beyond Nights after they release that, which I hope.

The thing with Peggls is that you can still get a good final few shots if you fuck up the beginning. I've had very few games where everyone has hit "Peggle Fever" by the end, but you can get very close, which keeps people playing.

not true just play the computer on master and you will see that literally any shot can be made HAR

Hmm. Maybe. But my experience of trying to beat challenge 5-3 possibly hundreds of times in the last few days tells me I need to start strong or just admit I'm going to fail.

No I hear you on some levels or challenges it just makes sense to restart if you have a bad first shot.

Don't you talk like that.

I put PEGGLE as my facebook status and made my girl try it. She sent me mail saying 'MY 60 MINUTE TRIAL IS OVER I'M REALLY GOOD HOW DO I GET MORE'

Also made my house mate a convert. This game is drugs.

What can you do for progression in this game? I've 'graduated' and now doing challenges, are there unlockables or progress more than that?

Beating all the challenges will take a little while. After that you can go for all-clears, though huge props to you if you can get all those. Then you can either go for high score or by that time maybe Nights will be out and offer a whole new set of challenges (fyi, Nights has "Ace Score" for each level, so another ribbon to go for, also the challenges are even tougher).

Isn't there supposed to be a iPhone/iPod Touch version coming out soon?

Last I heard was early march. My first peggle experience was downloading the XBLA trial, and was instantly hooked. I didn't buy it since it's not where I'd like to be playing this game. I'd much rather have it on my touch. I'm sure I'll end up buying the XBLA version at some point, but I'd like to start with a portable version first.

Also, for other peggle noobs that want to satisfy your urges at work, heres the free flash version.

I'm not ashamed to admit that the "doooooonph" sound each peg makes after you've broken 75k gives me wood.
I have an uncontrollable urge to throw my arms up in celebration when I get extreme fever.

On 2 other points:
1. I've come up with a fun way of playing peg party: Shotgun Peg Party. You do a whole bunch of random levels one after eachother, but you only get 2 shots, and 5 seconds to make each shot in. Rather fun.
2. There is no such thing as a quick game of Peggle.

Ok Im buying it. Youve won me over Peggle. That trial with its 5 regular levels and 3 challenge levels is pure fucking genius.

Another 800pts bites the dust.

wow this game is good. It's also perfect for 'non gamers'

My flatmate has videogame skills comparable to mine if I was playing using my dick to work the controls, but playing me at this game, the combination of luck and skill and being able to take your time with simple controls is perfect.

I'm doing the 300k challenges... how EXACTLY does the purple peg work, it seems if I hit more of them they begin to be worth more. Nearer the end of the game if you get the purple and 3-4 other normal pegs it can trigger free ball? I love it when you have 2 balls left, 3 orange that are miles apart and you KNOW you have to make a bucket to have a shot at fever.

Got Ultra for the first time last night. Got to scared to try for the blue first then the last orange. COWARD.

Your shot score is the total value of the pegs hit on a given shot (including the Fevermeter bonus) multiplied by the number of pegs hit.

On your first shot, you hit three oranges, two blues and one purple. Your subtotal would be 300 (100 x 3) + 20 (10 x 2) + 500 (500 x 1), which is 820 points. You hit a total of 6 pegs, so your final shot score would be 4,920 (820 points x 6 pegs). When your Fevermeter increases, each peg is worth more points.

Sounds like what you are talking about is the Fevermeter effect, basically the more oranges you hit the more each peg is worth (up to 10X at the end).

Dabbled into some 4 player peggle party last night.
What a blast!!
I still find it funny I end up cursing(at myself) in this game of unicorns and rainbows just as much as I did with Halo 3 mp. :lol

Same here. She's basically taken over my 360 to play Peggle. She actually woke me up to tell me she finished Adventure Mode one morning. :lol

For those that play online Duels, do you find that the shot timer is disabled or not working? Often times, the person I'm playing can wait beyond the 15 second timer to shoot. It'll just sit there at 0 and the person is still aiming.
