Does anyone else find the constant gratuitous ass shots in the beginning of the movie to be a bit, I don't know...90s ish. Its like we get it, women equal ass in car culture movies but if I wanted that Id just watch a porno that I have super easy access to like everyone else in the world in the year 2017. It just felt so hammy and unnecessary, oh look, lets put these women in here for ass shots. If a video game did this kotaku would be writing 20 articles on it.

Nah. First one came out in 2001. It's part of the legacy.

Gotta remember where you came from.

Aside from that, the movie was Avengers in cars. So whatever, whiz bangninja cool something something popcorn.

Always part of the series. They do it once in every movie.

I thought it was complete forgettable rubbish. Statham and The Rock made it bearable from the middle towards the end. Nathalie Emmanuel is outrageously beautiful. Dame Mirren will always steal the show even if she's onscreen for a second.

Time to spin it off as a Hobbs/Deckard buddy cop series IMHO.

So Brian is out of the life because hes a dad.....so lets make Dom a dad too so he can stay in the life? So now they are making it look like Brian is....my family is more important then you guys, but Dom will be fighting aliens in space with a baby seat in his car talking about how everyone is his family.

Just weak all around. The cast is bloated as hell, time to cut some of these people out. The 2 brothers that show up every movie for 4 seconds trying to get fanfair, drop them completely, Ramsey as much as shes cute and smart, shes useless to the core group when you have luda running around being the tech guy, don't need two. Now with Shaw joining the family, because why not....time to cut out some of the cast permanently.

Ya it's some serious Spectre shit and that's wack

Should've just stuck to boosting safes in Rio

At least Cipher didn't hastily tape up photocopies of everyone's faces around the plane

Edit: those were some quality ass shots, though. Can't hate.
Makes me want to visit Havana (that whole scene, not the ass shots in particular). Beautiful.

Those two sat out 6 and 7.

This was much better than 6 and 7 but it still wasn't a very good movie. It did remind me how great Jason Statham is, though, so that was a plus.

Just got done watching and I didn't enjoy it all the much. The beginning seemed like it was watching the first few movies again, which was nice, but overall it was meh. It was way too serious and I started falling asleep during some parts. I think without having Paul for Vin to play off, Dom just becomes a boring character.

Best film since Fast Five IMO. Thought they did a really good job of handling a ridiculous premise and tying things together, and having pretty much non-stop fun from start to finish with ample car sequences.

Only real complaints are Cipher not using God's Eye to know they were coming and the silly counter-hacking stuff. I hope they've wrung that omniscience stuff dry and start the next film by destroying God's Eye and killing Megan. Like time travel, those plot devices really get old quick and are pretty difficult to use more than once and still be interesting.

Great addition to the continuity overall. The series is now primed for the gen 2 reboot in the future with Jack O'Connor, Brian Toretto and Samantha Hobbs as I've always dreamed.

EDIT: Don't know how I feel about the Deckard stuff. Ultimately, he killed family. And Han should stay dead. Please, resurrection is another one of those plot devices that has already been used up.

Thought the beginning (aside from the cool Cuba chase) was quite weak. Awkward jokes that went on too long (like the Rock coaching). But once the AI cars kicked in, the movie was pretty solid.

I don't really care about Hobbs or Deckard, but I would love a Roman/Tej spin off.

The ultimate big bad will be
"Nobody and co" and his daughter, Cypher has been trying to undo his work this entire time.
Then we can spin off and introduce other offspring and friends to keep it going.

Phew, loved the movie. Over time my love for 7 dwindled a little but I still enjoy it. I think this one is better than that one, with the added characterization of Shaw and just the overall plot I thought it was great. The set-pieces were awesome too, that NY scene, wow.

I think my ranking is now 5 = 6 > 1 > 8 > 7 > 4 > 3 > 2

One of my favorite series, can't get enough.

7 definitely is definitely the weakest but that ending shot still gets me. I really miss Paul Walker in these films :(

What?

I liked this movie but 6 is wayyyy better than 7 and 8. It's a lot more consistent with the previous films but amps up the action just enough to make the film crazy and glorious. I also think 6 brings back characters in a more interesting way without just dumping them uselessly into the plot. Plus Justin Lin's final film in the trilogy.

WAZZ, I got it:

5,1,6,8,7,4,2,3

8 sits somewhere in the middle of the series for me. Definitely not the best, but also not the worst.

No need to tag spoilers in a spoiler thread.

I'm so used to being careful, but it's not really a spoiler. It's just a theory of where they could go.

What is with this need to rank every addition to the franchise? How is anyone actually enjoying what's released when they do this? Who needs a guide to tell them how much they should or should not like a piece of media? What insanity is this???

I can support this though I have a soft spot for 4 due to it being the returning film of the series lol

Me too but I personally can't really rank it ahead of any except 2 and 3.

It's amazing how close we came to not getting 4-8 with the performance TD did at the BO.

You rank it after you watch it. How does that impact enjoyment?

If you really need to rank it, you're missing the forest for the trees. This need to rank things, and purity test everything by a favorite (or what is rated as best by communities to begin with) is asinine.

Want to bring up my disappointment in the film with the soundtrack. 3,5,6,7 used their soundtracks to bring the hype. Their best sound was the trailer one and they used it at an odd time. The others felt flat. This is the first in 4 films I've come out, without having look songs.

Rewatching 7, it only hurts more with Statham intro being played against Payback. Where is the hype in 8?

Talking rankings

5 > 3 > 6 > 1 > 8 >7 > 2 > 4

2 is the worst flick, but it's a lot of fun. 4 is decent, but a slog to get through.

Any list without 5 on top is invalid. There is no competition in that regard.

3, the best cast member is Tokyo.

6, had some faults, but was still largely a great flick.

1 is point break, it's so weird going back to it now.

the prison riot was very hype

We only really disagree with where we rank TD. I felt it was an illegitimate child of the franchise until the retcon and even then, I hated Sean and Bow Wow compared to the originals.

DK was way too one dimensional for my liking.

Eh. We are pretty aligned the rest of the way.

The action scenes with the smartcars and the submarine were pretty inventive, but that's about the only good thing I can say for this movie. There are redundancies in the cast, the characters are shallow, the writing is terrible, and the tone is uneven. Also, I wish Tyrese would leave earth.

my gf jump out of excitement when the shaw bros came.

Bruh where's Han though.

The baby is actually a clone of Han

In the intro for 9, Dom will walk in to his 'son's' room only to find the baby has grown into an adult overnight due to accelerated aging.

Bewildered, Dom says "Brian?"

The clone spits out the pacifier and replies

"No... call me... Bri-Han!"

Ramsey is probably the most dispensable member of the party. She's just the hacker role that Tej has been holding since FF5.

I don't even know why she's even in the main cast.

She's been nothing but a walking plot device following her reveal in 7. They've done little to expand upon her role since introducing her. Even 'Little Nobody' makes more of an impression than her.

Yes. Yes. Yes. My take coming out of the cinema was that there as a great Jason Statham movie in there somewhere, but this is more on point.

The more 'realistic' stuff in this one (I know, I know) kind of made it harder to accept stuff like Roman being submerged in arctic water and then dragged on a car door behind something going super fast while skipping over the ice and not dying of hypothermia, but that's a nit pick, obviously. Sort of wished it went full gonzo like xXx 3.

MVPs. Statham. The Rock. Mirren. Theron.

Dom 'forgiving' Statham was seeded in that scene in Cuba.

So is Theron going to redeem herself in 9 and join the family as she joins the crew to fry a bigger fish?
I want Cipher to be a loose canon who helps the family from time to time and does her own thing when it suits her. She's the perfect wild card.

F8 has already established a good reason she can't be exploited as a cheap win button: she's ruthless and doesn't concern herself with collateral damage.

Prison sequence from start to finish is easily the best part of this movie. That being said I was pretty damn meh on this movie.

This just didn't feel like a Fast and Furious movie most of the time. You just lost Paul Walker to the cast and now your first move is to keep Dom from the main team for most of the movie? So now the two leads and anchors of the team aren't really there for the movie so you get nothing but Tej and Rome quibbling the entire time and Letty brooding. Eventually you get Hobb's and Shaw bickering which saves it quite a bit, but not enough for me.

Most of the action in the movie (save for the prison scene and the last half of the New York stuff) really just felt like generic action movie fair. A lot of the stuff could have taken place in many other action movies. I almost think this is on the direction. A lot of the stuff that was done sounds like a Fast type of thing to do, but the way the stuff comes off just really felt bad and almost boring.

The hacking shit was absolutely stupid. The Tej and Ramsey stuff before this movie was dumb but felt almost tongue in cheek with how they delt with it, now that it was the damn focal point of the movie it took up too much damn time and had nothing to do other than feel fucking stupid.

What the fuck is with everyone fucking forgetting that Shaw just killed Han and tried to kill Dom and his family? Fuck this shit. Hobb's is the only one angry at him? Fuck off.

The more I think about this movie the less I like it, where as most the time I want to do nothing but rewatch these movies over and over again. I love these movies more than any other movie series, I hate 4 because it feels almost nothing like a Fast movie and if not for a few scenes this would be right up there with 4. Like, what the fuck was with the scene of Dom and Cypher getting God's Eye? Let's shoot in these weird bombs and walk as slow as possible through here and then stop and kiss, we need this scene for the trailers, don't worry about it. So damn stupid. Felt like an hour long.

Can the movies just spin off into a Hobb's and Shaw series?

5 > 7 > 6 > 1 = 3 > 8 = 2 >>>>>>>>> 4

I would put this on about the same level as 2 as way above 4. Two is the worse movie than either 8 or 4, but it is the most like a Fast movie of any of those. It gets the comedy and the comradary way more than either of those movies and the dumb fun makes up for all the stupid-ness.

Next movies: I have a feeling the next two movies are going to revolve around some kind of war between the Shaw's and Cypher. I think they introduced the Shaw's mother and brought the brother back for this exact reason, then Dom and the family are going to have to intervene and try to stop both sides or have to help the Shaw's.

6 is a bad movie but I haven't seen it since it was in theaters because of how bad it was, so I don't remember any specifics.

She is someone for Luda and Tyrese to play off of, but outside of that, she doesn't have a point on the team since Tej does everything she does. I think she has good chemistry with the team, but she doesn't have a point. So it's a wash.

Fast 5 cemented the team and their roles. Losing Paul, Sung, and Gal hurt and they haven't been able to replace them.

Paul was always the emotional anchor and what kept Vin and the group together. Basically family. I didn't give a shit about Letty and Vin, but Paul and Mia. It worked in 1,4,5, and 7. Having him always as Vin's rival/equal added a lot too. Now, they don't even have that since you know Vin isn't going to play equals with The Rock. Notice how the Rock jobbed to Statham in the beginning of 7? Vin ain't ever going to let that happen to him. The closest was always Brian in racing. He grounded Dom.

Sung's and Gal worked extremely well in the group. He was the laid back member with a quick witt. As they said, someone who knew how to maneuver. It helped a lot the cool and smooth member of the group was Asian, since it's such a drastic departure from basically every other series where they are either Kung fu experts or the basically in Luda's role where they are the hacker.

Gal was the female muscle for the group. Could work the scenes boys can't with her sex appeal and also beat the majority of the guys asses too.

The newest members, don't quite have it. Ramsey, just fits in the same spot as Tej. I feel like they should have made her more of a Q or something for the group. Not just another hacker.

Eastwood, I didn't mind. He's the new group busta. And guess, supposed to be the newbie. It works a bit, but he'll need to add something to the group next time.

I like Statham and Russell, I feel like they fit in fine. With Russell solely being there as the G man, but I do think Statham shouldn't be a direct member, but more like the ace they call in at times.

Loved 5, didn't like 6, and loved 7. I would say 8 is the worst of the new ones. Don't care about Dom and letty relationship at all. Without Brian, everything felt really disconnected too. They also seemed to rely on Romans screaming a lot more this time around. It really didn't work and I don't think my theater even laughed once.

The action sequences were all a disappointment except for the prison break and the baby fight on the plane. The submarine stuff and the NYC stuff was meh.

I think I'll sit the next one out, unless something major changes. With Fate, this series is the same level as The Expendables in terms of boring action fests.

So how about this: an injuried Han suffering from partial memory loss, is taken by the Yakuza and trained to direct his vengeance towards the Shaws as a master assassin

Maybe a robotic arm too
