I'm trying to think...what happened to Tina? The Latin cop? She was on a few episodes ago...and???

Utterly amazing episode. Definitely one of the best in the series. I hope the show can maintain the insane tension that this episode built.

Who know..she seems destined to be another throw away character. I don't see Dutch ever finding true love now that his two loves seem out of the picture.

I have the same feeling. It's just that at some times, she's in the cast as a full time cast member, but has just disappeared entirely. Not even a "she transferred" statement by someone still on the show.

I think she'll show up at some point in the next couple of episodes. I don't think they would have bothered with that scene earlier in the season where she failed to properly clear the room if they were just planning on forgetting about her. After last night, I'm definitely curious to see the direction of the storyline for the rest of the characters in the Barn
after Vic's departure.

well there are lot of unanswered side questions that have little to do with the strike team.
1. What is the signigficance of Claudettes Loopis. Will she have to leave the barn..will Danny take over?
2. How will Danny take over, if she is splitting town (as shown on last weeks episode)
3. Are we ever going to get closure on Dutch's realationship with Danny? What about all his work on serial killers, and that dead cat?
4. What was hte point of showing Mackey's daughter acting out if hes going to loose then anyway?

Julian and Tina have completely fallen off even the side stories at this point.

Tina also vanished.

I have a feeling Dutch boy will revist Lem's case and come to conclusion that one of the ST member killed Lem.

I think we are about to hit a downward slope for the entire strike team. Shane will take everyone down with him.

1. I figure it's to set up her endgame. Her leaving, being forced to leave, or dying. Probably play up either that she was the one to bring down Vic, or not.
2. I feel better than 50% that we might have seen the last of Danny.
3. If Danny's gone, that part of Dutch's story goes with her. His endgame will probably involve that serial killer kid and his mom. That's got to come back up. I even hold up some thought, that we find out Dutch has been killing people on the side the whole time, ever since the Cat. But, they haven't shown that to be the case. I figure he'll either help bring down Vic, or look like a buffoon one last time, trying to do so.
4. I figure that plot was to add more onto Vic's plate at the time. To give the feeling of "too much" for Vic to manage. And to give him (and us) that feeling that now, all that work Vic did to "manage" this shit, has seemingly fallen apart. To have an underlying "it's ending" feeling.

Only person standing after this, will probably be Julian. Billings will probably do alright too. Made alot of Purse on those Vending machines :lol

Dutch and Claudette could come out ok, but still heavily effected by things. Aceveda has alot to lose at the moment, so I don't know how he'll end up.

Ronnie is so close to either getting out "unscathed" by disappearing, or getting caught up. Vic would have to pull off the MOTHER of all Vic Schemes, to not end up in jail or dead. His best hope is either disappearing, or working for ICE, and those I feel are REALLY small. Shane's got to be doomed.

This episode was perfect in so many ways.

The way Claudette and Vic peer up and down at each other in the penultimate scene. Reminiscent of the Cinco de Mayo scene in Episode 1.

The fact that they show Vic leaving the Barn from the front. Like a civilian.

What if you're forced to do something line -> kind of a theme on the show. Similar to what Vic does to the Strike Team.

Vic looking secure with a new job.. you know that he wont get the soft landing he's looking for.

Not a single flaw in the episode.

Can't wait for next week.

That scene was absolutely perfect. It was also eerily quiet compared to the normal chaos that goes on in the back.

Regarding 4. it's all about Vic, it's all coming down on him this season, even more subtle points like the past episode with Lester, or whatever his name, showing him as a two-time thief and Carl Weathers character probably got the same fate.

the interrogation room scene has to go down as one of the most intense scenes in the shows history. Loved when Ronnie caught Shane making a cut throat sign

If Walton Goggins doesn't get nominated for a supporting Emmy this year, I'll be upset, though not surprised. His facial expressions are absolutely incredible in this episode his face shows almost all of the tension in the room

Did anyone have a hard time sitting down? I personally had to walk around the room a few times to help drain the anxiety.

yeah I really get into these shows.

I could definitely feel the tension. Commercial breaks were unbearable because of it.

"THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO DURING THIS BREAKS TO SATISFY ME, RAAAAAAAWWWWR drinking some Dr. Pepper....fucking 23 flavors my ass."

ha ha. I went through 3 glasses of Scotch. That's usually something I sip on, but the show was stressing me out. ha ha

Great episode last night. The thing I find most impressive is that I have absolutely no idea how this is all going to resolve itself. Along with being emotionally invested in the characters after all these years, it makes the run up to the end of the show riveting.

Fucking best show I've seen. This show is for sure going out with a BANG!

When Corinne told Vic
she would help out, but when it was all done she was taking the kids and wanted Vic out of her and their lives, and that he "had to pay some kind of price" was beautiful.
The look on Vic's face was absolutely perfect.

That whole interrogation scene when Vic went to Dutch with his "information" in the perp's line of sight and Shane trying to signal the perp was riveting and tension-inducing. It just got better and better from there.
When Shane was leaving and the female cop was bugging him about the softball team and which jersey number he wanted and he told her "Pick any number and stick it up your ass!"
was awesome, the tension there just built and built.

I can not wait for next Tuesday. I hate that this show is ending. It is pure TV genius. Haven't seen anything better.

After several slow episodes, Tuesday's episode made up for all of that.

The funny thing is Vic was on his way to letting Shane off for Lem's fate, as was shown when he tried to call Shane and warn him of the Mexicans coming to kill the Armenians. But then Shane had to try to get Vic and Ronnie before they got him. Now Vic won't forget.

I'm still thinking Shane is going to walk away unscathed at the end of the series. Vic's fate doesn't look so good though.

I don't want this show to end though. I'm not sure what I'm going to do after this show is off the air. I fell back on The Shield after The Wire ended, but soon I will have neither. So sad...

Heck, it could end with Vic raising Shane's son as his own.

While the scene was funny, with Shane was leaving the barn, about the softball team...

why didn't he just say "nah, that's alright." He knew he had no plans on coming back there. Or heck, just keep going.

my predictions

ronnie ends up killing shane and goes to jail for life

vic ends the show alive and even somehow escapes prosecution for his actions. he does however, leave the show as a broken man with no family (corine leaves, danny left, his children hate him), and no law enforcement job at all.

havent thought much about the other characters, but claudette likely wont be in charge after this season and will retire due to loopis. acevada may be exposed. dutch is not and never was a serial killer. all that crap with the kitten was misinterpreted by fans

Regarding the finale, here's a clue at what will happen, although not really a HUGE spoiler:

A returning character will be back, driving away.

Holy shit, I've been snowed under with work and only just got around to watching this weeks episode...absolutely mind blowing. This episode along with the final episode of Season 5 are two of the greatest things I have ever seen on television. I'm pretty speechless.

Think I'll watch the episode again straight away :D

I wrote this up on another forum, so rather than reword my thoughts on the previous episode, I'll just do a cut and paste:

Early reviews of this episode praised it as one of the series' best and now that I've seen it too, I think I understand where they are coming from. There were moments in this episode where my heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest.

Two-man confessing himself a hired hitman, cut with Shane leaving The Barn
was without question, one of the greatest moments in the series for me. It felt like a final season moment.

That was it. Shane was done. You waited for Two-man to drop the bomb. You watched Shane walk further away from his team. You waited for Dutch, Billings, Julien, Claudette, Ronnie and Vic to hear once and for all, that one of their own was responsible.
Every step Shane took was another step closer to leaving The Barn for good.
His backward glance at the Strike Team den just as he turned that final corner was such a powerful if bittersweet moment.
Even though he knew he was seconds away from destruction, had time to say his goodbyes and maybe even catch a fleeting glimpse of a better time.

It was something you knew was coming
from the moment he dropped that grenade in Lem's lap
but to finally see it happen was so... I don't even know what to say here! The Shield delivers character drama unlike any other show. I can't honestly say that any of the shows I've watched has so successfully created characters with such heavy history. The sort of characters that are layered to such a degree that it borders on the overwhelming. Jeezus, when this show is good it borders on the GODLIKE.

This was the episode that would not stop giving. From the moment Two-man takes the 'worm', the episode, if not the series, was kicked into overdrive.
Shanes escape was almost immediately followed by Mara confronting Corrine and laying the teams dirtiest secrets at her feet, finally delivering that sinister ultimatum.
Shane certainly deserves that crazy bitch.

Corrine coming to Vic and pleading him to confess was heart-wrenching to watch.
It's amazing that you could feel so strongly for a man who has done such terrible things over the course of the series. Micheal Chiklis did an incredible job in that scene, delivering just the right balance of constitution and fragility in a confession that he had never had to deliver in all his years of wrongdoing. 'I don't think about it' Too bad Vic. The time is coming when your are going to have to ultimately face your demons. And that demon just so happen to have taken the form of you best friend, Shane Vendrell.

And the final bombshell in an already unforgettable episode...

I don't have to tell you that
Vic resigning
was also a HUGE moment for the series. I knew this would happen. I knew that if Vic was truly going to go after Shane in all his ability, he would have to shake loose the shackles of duty and come at him unhindered. His explosive final words with Claudette was eerily reminiscent of his shouting matches with his old Captain Aceveda, who only a few years ago, was gunning for Mackey hard. Now it seems that mantle has fallen onto the willing shoulders of Claudette. The shot of her glaring down at Vic and
vowing to put an end to him
sent shivers down my spine. I've never seen her look so menacing.

Ok, now I'm all burnt out. Can you believe there are still FIVE EPISODES left? I mean COME ON! I can't help but giggle insanely at what could possibly lie on the horizon. I cannot fathom how incredible the final stretch of episodes in this series will be.

Try telling me television gets much better than this. I fucking dare you.

Hell, even films rarely get better than this. The Shield rests at the very top of its art form and the fact that its been able to do it for seven straight seasons is fucking amazing.

Between last season and this season, I watched The Wire in its entirety...

When that was over, I felt it beat out The Shield as best TV drama. But now it's slowly drifting back...this might take it when it's over, not sure.

Lost has an outside shot of taking the cake if they end it properly.

Shawn Ryan screens The Shield series finale.

http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/10/watching-the-sh.html

No real spoilers

"The screening lights come up.

The room is silent.

Somebody says "wow.""

"The final image of "The Shield" is one you will never see coming"
"Does the ending feel like a conclusion? Yes. Does it tie everything up? No"
"Ryan does something different during the finale's closing credits. Don’t worry, no extended blank screen. "
"Some fans probably will not like it"

The final scene has Glenn Close returning to the show, and hooking up with Ronnie!

The pieces of what's left in the Russian who blew himself up in the chair, reconstitute into a 50 foot monster, and ravages Downtown Los Angeles. The only way to stop him? A laser bolt fired from Armadillo's Uber Strength Kitchen Stove.

But just after the finishing blow is struck, the black hole that lies inside the Never Working Men's room, is uncovered, and the entire world ends.

The End.

Armadillo's kitchen stove. :lol

Is anyone else surprised that they had Two-man flip on Shane so quickly? I thought they would drag it out for at lease another episode, but damn if they didn't just jump right into.

What could we possibly be in store for over the next five weeks now that Vic is not a cop and Shane is on the run?

edit: Glen Close coming back to guest star would not be that far of a reach considering that her own FX show (Damages) starts back up after Nip/Tuck begins in January. The Monica Rawlings character is still very much in the wind.

"Not very eventful" is not the correct term. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

Setting the little fragments that's left of the story. What to do about Mara..... :/

Tina returns!

OH SHIT, it's Ali, the 2nd season villian on 24!!!!!!

Shits out on the table now! It'll either be a great move, or the true end for the 3 of them. It has to expose a bit about Vic and Ronnie.

OK, that last scene from next week's preview just made me angry and sad...The end is nearing :(

Great episode tonight...Ronnie was cool and
that was an intense scene when vic got arrested

Not as action packed as last week. But a couple bombshells were revealed.

Claudette is this || close to finding out about the Strike Teams dirtiest little secret.

Corrine just sold Vic completely out.

And Vic was ready to kill a pregnant woman.

It just hit me this show is really over in 4 weeks.

And that preview looks bananas.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I don't want it to end as I've been watching since it began but jesus christ it's painful to wait :(
