Quick Look: Rock Band Blitz (Ryan/Jeff) 27:45
How can he play the game when there are all those wonderful menus to navigate?just play the game ryan, omg
Really? Are you?Surprised they went so easy on it
Wow, Rock Band Blitz seems like one of the sleaziest packages ever with that facebook and dlc stuff. Surprised they went so easy on it
They've been doing the DLC stuff since RB2 and the challenges though, so that's not new.Wow, Rock Band Blitz seems like one of the sleaziest packages ever with that facebook and dlc stuff. Surprised they went so easy on it
It's a Harmonix game... It's like being surprised when they go easy on every single double fine games...

Can't watch the QL at the moment, how does this play compared to Amplitude?
What's sleazy about the DLC? The only reason I'm getting the game is because all the DLC songs I already bought will work with it.
wtf is this shit? since when do you need to be a rocket scientist to learn the rules of a new rockband game? jeffs explanation at minute 8:00...wth?
because DF's games all suck?

The fact that, when your friend challenges with a song you don't have it'll do the 'hey maybe you should buy this'. Also, of course they made the dlc songs compatible. This game would not sell if they didn't do that.
Time til Ryan starts playing-timer: 07:31
Besides facebook challenges to earn coins (some impossible to complete without buying specific DLC), there's posting on the facebook wall to urge your friends into buying the game, and achievements that can't be done without owning a pretty high number of DLC songs.Sounds pretty harmless to me.
I like how in recent quick looks Vinny and Jeff both tell him to hurry up but he doesn't lol.

yeah the Facebook stuff is hardly as nefarious as some are making it seem. It's just an extra way to get coins. From what I understood, you can do everything in the game without ever having to touch Facebook.

Just because other people shit the bed doesn't make it cool. I'm sure I have the 300 songs needed to get it, but I still think it's one more terrible idea on a pile of them. Those Achievements are on top of the standard 400 Achievement points, and aren't different than Achievements in other games where you have to buy DLC, e.g. the Miss Link DLC for Deus Ex HR which takes it from 1000 points to 1250.

Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery had twitter integration. It was completely optional, but when I saw "Tweet and you will be retweeted" blatantly in the game, it pulled me completely out of the experience and made me angry.
Game developers: we do not want social network integration in our games... STOP IT!
So when Bungie/Gearbox/etc etc etc sell DLC that also adds achievements, they're "shitting the bed"? Let me help you out, the answer is no. No they're not.
At least not in the way they insist on doing it.
Tracks are two buttons only? That's kind of a weird design decision, I think I'd prefered it if they had used the Unplugged configuration. And good luck attracting newcomers with a tracklist as shitty as this one.
I think what they're trying to do with the whole facebook challenges thing really would have been better suited for a mobile/ipad game.

Why ask me a question if you're going to answer for me? Personally, I hated how Gearbox handled achievements with their DLC. Instead of getting just the achievements with the particular DLC pack you bought, you'd get them for the next one too, giving you just that little encouragement to pay a little more. Shit tactics either way.So when Bungie/Gearbox/etc etc etc sell DLC that also adds achievements, they're "shitting the bed"? Let me help you out, the answer is no. No they're not.

Had to do it:
Wow that was a shockingly terrible quick look by Jeff. I had to stop it halfway through because I genuinely felt like they were trying to shill the game, it felt insulting.

Calling Jeff a shill is a pretty sure way to get him to post in this thread really angrily, so I just jinxed you with this post. You can thank me later.
There's totally nothing wrong with liking a game (see: Borderlands), it's when the entire video feels like an advertisement video produced by Harmonix that it goes sour. It feels like the sort of thing the marketing people would put out to introduce people to a game down to the nitty gritty details which is the complete opposite of what they generally do with quick looks (go in semi-blind and skip past tutorial messages).Jeff says a game is okay: "MAN JEFF IS SO JADED, HE HATES EVERYTHING!"
Jeff seems to actually like a game more than usual: "MAN JEFF MUST JUST LIKE IT BECAUSE HE LIKES PEOPLE AT HARMONIX!"
Also, the game isn't all that hard to understand. Play tracks to up multiplier>Multiplier increases at checkpoints>Power-ups help get more points.
