The punches looked super weak because it was 1-1 tracking. Did you see how weak Alex was throwing his arms?

He's not even fighting that bad. But it also look even weaker because Alex doesn't understand something as simple as spending ability points.

Around GAF, you're either for or against GT5. No in-between, no joking, no middle ground!
Especially when it comes to gb where anything that isnt blubbering praise means they are down on a game and hate it.

Haven't they been trolling the game in their podcasts? They should be the last people you'd want to get impressions or opinions on the game from.
Everyone has been trolling on GT5 right up to the release, Polyphony has made it so easy.

What about those of us with "no opinion."

For unveiling a game in mid-2006 that wasn't released until late 2010.
Yeah, it's not unheard of. FFXIII got a ton of shit for taking so long to come out. And the XIII Versus threads...oooh boy!

I have no interest in real cars and racing, but I did love the old Gran Turismo games so I'm stoked for the new one.

I did it guys! I'm a statistic!

By doing what exactly? For spending time developing the game instead of putting out a buggy ass product?
Plenty of developers put out games in less than four years that aren't buggy.

The delays are funny, especially that last one, so deal with it.

So because somebody expresses a negative opinion you decide to ignore it.

Ok.

They've always been pretty positive on the game itself (Looks amazing, probably will sell well), just negative about the meta stuff (boy that game has taken a long time to come out, i wonder if the market is still there)

Every gaming podcast has trolled GT5 for delays at one time or another. GB is no exception.
Im no GT fan but this is a thing i dont get

people always complain when a supposedly good game with a lot of potential gets rushed and lacks polish. they always say "oh man if they hadnt rushed it it would have been so much better"

now if a dev actually takes time and gives the best to make it a polished experience people are busy bashing that game.. (similar cases would be blizzard games or zelda games)

The only problem is PR departments not anticipating the time it will take for a game to be finished and unveiling it too early. Unveil a game no more than 2 years from release date. Anything longer is actually harmful to the game in the long run.

People make fun of blizzard and valve for their release schedules as well.

It's not that they're saying POLYPHONIC SHOULD ROT IN HELL FFFFFFFF or anything, it's just commenting on the ridiculousness of the constant "Sorry we're delaying it again here's the release date for real this time".

I mean, a 3 week delay for no obvious reason after being in development for 4 years is kinda funny.

It's just something to poke fun at since it's so highly anticipated, imo. Now that it's coming out, the new target will probably be FFXIII Versus. And let's not forget about HL Episode 3. ;)

GB has made a bunch of jokes about when Diablo 3 and the SC2 expansions are coming out. It's nothing new.

what im talking about is that the fact that a game gets delayed should not be poked fun at

we see so many games that get rushed and are bad because of lacking polish.

delaying a game to get it right is a move that only a few companies like nintendo, blizzard, valve or some of the sony, MS studios can afford. and poking fun at it everytime it happens will discourage those publishers to actually do so.

These guys are just having a laugh, there is no need to take it so seriously. I don't see a problem poking fun of the constant GT5 delays, the last one was particular funny because it came out of nowhere and for several months everyone thought it would release early November. Blizzard games and Valve ones are constantly always getting poked at for the constant delays but again it's just for a laugh. For example the epicbattleaxe podcast guys have made fun of the constant GT5 delays however all of them are huge fans of the game and are getting it day one.

You can't help but chuckle at what has gone on with GT5.

I think GT5 was supposedly done but they wanted to keep adding new features. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Similar to SC2 when it was taking so long for mainly tweaking the MP stuff.

Ok.

I just posted about Giant Bomb in the GT5 thread. In their podcasts they basically say GT5 probably won't do well because everyone already had access to Forza (cutting down the possible sells for GT5) and the incredibly small installed base of PS3. They also say GT5 will be too hard for people so that will also factor in it not selling too well.

After all of that I figured they are too burned out on racing sims to even give GT5 a quick look, and if they did it will be too hard for them. Just like Demon's Souls (which isn't really that hard). Their comments on the last few podcast made me roll my eyes. Or maybe their on to something, and GT is burned out.

I don't remember the words in their podcast, but it's more along the line of "won't be a system-seller". I could be wrong, of course, they could totally trash GT5:lol

Have they said anything about that? I saw the quicklook and was wondering why they never reviewed it.

As I remember it that's not at all what they were saying. Forza was brought up because they were comparing all of the racing assists that game has and questioned if GT was being left behind by only catering to a hard(ish)core sim crowd.

I don't remember them criticizing the PS3 install base at all. I do remember they were questioning whether or not this would be the big breakthrough exclusive that PS3 has been waiting for. They didn't think it would be but I don't think they recognized the value of the game in foreign markets.

Their GT talk was a little dumb and the quick look will probably mostly be "Check it out: there are cars." but I don't know what you'd expect given that they aren't racing fans to begin with.

Did they actually say the PS3 has an incredibly small install base? Because it doesn't.

GT5 won't come close to Cod Blops' numbers, but I think it will sell better than previous major PS3 exclusives like MGS4, Uncharted 2 and God of War 3. If not in the US, then worldwide definitely.

There's a certain amount of untrue polarization people attribute to some statements, and this is an example of that. THey never said anything like this: they said basically:

- GT's always been a huge seller, so this one might be too!
- but super-realistic racing games may not be the 'in thing' any more.
- Forza's selling well.
- GT5 is more accessable, like Forza was.
- yeah but how many people are going to buy it when they already have forza
- Well who knows.

Basically they slapped a big question mark on it, they didn't really make any judgements. And it feels like at least, the GB guys are jazzed to try it at least. If they end up not feeling like QLing it, that's their business, but right now it doesnt look like it's going that way.

That's an accurate summary.

Outside of North America I think Forza's impact will be minimal since so many European & Japanese gamers have a PS3 but don't have a 360, and Forza 3 came out a year ago anyway.

In fact, they also said that Forza's success if anything helps GT5 a great deal since it's not on the same platform.

The only thing they weren't sure of in terms of GT5 sales is whether it will push systems as it has in the past, as they were wondering if anyone super interested in GT5 would really not own a PS3 by this point in time.

How people could misinterpret what they were saying in the podcast is pretty baffling, they were quite clear in what they were saying.
