If the game plays as good on gamepad as it does with Kinect, well, why bother spending money on Kinect?

If you already have a Kinect I guess it's pretty cool but outside of being a crazy early adopter who needs everything the moment it comes out, or being the sort of person tricked in to buying one on accident, owning a Kinect does not seem like the kind of thing one should currently be proud of.

I guess I just saw Child of Eden as, like, my Kinect Killer App. It would be the Kinect game that gets everything right and shows me a totally new experience and sells everybody on the concept. It was the game I figured I would need Kinect to experience "the right way".

But it's not that at all. It's Rez 2, and you lose basically nothing by subtracting Kinect integration.

Which means: SURPRISE! The game I thought would sell me on Kinect actually plays just fine on a gamepad.
Did you not like follow this game at all? Im not sure how you wouldnt have already realized that playing it with a controller would have been like that. It seems incredibly obvious unless you believed it the controls were going to be gimped in some way.

The replay stuff in AE looks cool. The fact that the first match that came up when jeff went into it being two of the most prolific and most skilled players makes the filtering system seem good at least.
For some reason the replay channel never worked for me. I have my PS3 in DMZ and everything. I'm still mad and I blame my ISP.

oh, I never got it to work in vanilla, didn't try in super and I suppose I just expected it to be fine now. maybe I'm still out in the cold and the feature set just keeps improving for the fortunate... :/

Jeff and Brad watch a replay of two SF4 grandmasters (Daigo and Tokido) and are unsure about how good the players are. SMH

Jeff wears Street Fighter apparel from Triumvir too, I figured he would at least be marginally knowledgeable about the scene.

He's said in the past he can't keep up with that stuff even though he'd like to because of his job.

eh, the crazy shit that goes on in high level SF is rather hard to pick out by those not in the cool kids club. It's not like marvel where sick shit results in absurd combos with lots of flashy colors and high number of hits and two, three dead characters.

Wow, a Daigo vs Tokido replay first go. That's pretty damn good.

Daigo and Justin Wong are probably the only players famous enough that even people who don't follow the scene know about them.

Just watched the Child of Eden QL. Looks trippy and I love what Vinny and Ryan were doing with Space Whale/Phoenix.

Started the DNF QL and about 8 mins in and it just seems like Jeff is trying to make the game look bad (though it's the 360 version so he doesn't need to try hard).
I mean dying on the elevator part (it' really is easy, just break untill the bar is almost full, cool off for like 1/4, break again) and then jumping straight into a pit on the Hive. Just seems like he wants to show as much loading as possible.

I understand the bad review scores for the console versions a bit more now though. I mean I'd be bitter and more critical after those load times for every new area or every time I die. The PC loads are like 10-20 seconds max for a new level and a LOT shorter when you die.

EDIT: It's no wonder that every modern day shooter is a linear corridor fest. When Jeff was given just an ounce of exploration he had trouble finding his way =/

I have no idea what the hell he was doing on the elevator part. You don't even need to let it cool off for 1/4 and try again, I let it go all the way down and pulled again and beat it on my first try.

I have no idea who Tokido (or tokido77, as his gamertag says) is and I couldn't possibly know that "gameinn" was Daigo.

I don't see how they could know any of that, as Jeff is the fighting game grandmaster of the house and he admited, multiple times, that he doesn't follow the competitive world at all.

To be fair, no, I didn't really follow the game at all! I saw it in the first wave of Kinect previews and went "That looks the most like it could be a real game, I might be interested in that" and basically heard nothing until seeing the QL.

How the heck do I find Daigo vs Tokido replays? ><

All I find using the elite replay channels are 3000 pp players versus sub 1000pp people.

The most adorable comments always rear their heads during fighting game QLs.

Yeah, I agree with Jeff on that game being a pile of complete garbage, but I don't know how he wasn't getting that part. I just pulled it as much as I could and it worked.

And isn't that what Duke Nukem is all about?

Why does Klepeck keep asking "Why?" during this Quick Look. You could say that for any game. Why not? It looks fun. Go away and troll juke boxes you hipster. Stop ruining Giant Bomb.

You're right, Jamestown's setting is pretty inline with most of the stuff we get today in games. Where is the creativity in games nowadays? Damn hipsters.

Them talking about how the top-tier Japanese SF players would never touch a 360 version and then stumbling into a room full of Japanese people watching a Daigo replay (while being oblivious and saying "if these guys are good... they seem alright") is hilarious.

I haven't watched it yet but I like Patrick, he's got his own thing going on and doesn't just play off the 4 guys like some people (Alex).

LOL MY POST WAS SO FUNNY *refreshes to see if anyone quotes me with an LOL*

How exactly is he "ruining Giant Bomb"? I think you may be a bit hyperbolic here. It seems like this is your problem, not theirs.

The posts hating on Patrick seem bitter more than anything. I've yet to come across a reason to dislike him that doesn't make me raise my eyebrow.

I don't dislike Patrick, but he comes off a bit too winy. He has a problem with everything, I get that he sometimes has a strong opinion but he just doesn't stop going on and on. He doesn't really flow well with the other guys and feels like he's hogging time.

For the record, Patrick's "Why?" was basically "Lol wat?". It was voicing confusion at the game's odd concept. I don't think Patrick adds anything particularly refreshing to GiantBomb, but he certainly isn't taking it the other way either.

He DOES talk a lot but we all got used to Ryan right?

Like the way he talks, the way he expresses himself, he just says the same thing over and over again, always explaining the same thing, not really going in depth but always able to talk, like he can't just describe a simple thing concisely, he just really drags things out, he talks to us like we are babies, like he is talking to a person with some mental deficiencies.

I read that in Patricks voice.
I don't mind him, he is alright.

It would be hard to mesh any personality into the core GiantBomb group without it feeling awkward. Patrick is a great addition to the site for his news writting even if I'm not a fan of his personality on podcasts or videos.

Parody? Because you kinda just did what you're complaining about.

Anyway, count me in the don't mind Klepek camp. Besides, I've seen him post here and he seems like a nice enough guy.

Patrick's kind of annoying, but whatever. I'm sure those of us who think so will get used to him after a while.
I think he's almost exactly like Alex in terms of his sarcastic abrasiveness.

Although, I was really disappointed when he didn't get Jeff's "Raptor" reference. I mean... come on!

Someone with a Glasvegas avatar calling someone else a hipster.

The irony.

I'll take Patrick on a quick look if that keeps Matt away from the mic. Jesus, I can't take him even in the smallest of doses.
Yup, Matt's presence on anything ruins it for me.

Patrick can be annoying or entertaining. It's 50/50. I think he can be a refreshing change due to his age, but at the same time he doesn't gel with the other guys like I'd want him to.

Hmmm, thing is about Alex... he can say a joke and just silence the entire room. He can blow out the fuse on GiantBomb with his jokes. It almost seem vicious at times how they don't even give him a courteous chuckle(I bet Ryan hates his guts, just a feeling).

Ryan is awesome and he never bothered me. It never feels like he's droning on and on and knows when to let other people talk. Great thing is that he knows how to banter with the other guys, but Patrick still has to learn that.
