Sure. I just get touchy when older people are doubtful that younger people experienced a given thing, especially since OoT was very much OUR game.
Still one of the best games I ever played.

I might buy it again when I get a 3DS, because holy crap the memories ;_;

Fun fact: I played OoT for the first time in Christmas 2003 on a Gamecube. Didn't take long for me to get Wind Waker (although the demo on the LoZ Collector's Edition disc, and the fact my only other GCN game was Rocky, sure helped me make that decision, hah).

I got it Christmas '98 when I was 7 soon to be 8. It was alongside me as I grew up, never going more than a year without at least playing some of it. OoT is very much a part of my and many of my peers identities. I couldn't imagine this just being some game I played in college, even if it was a particularly fantastic one (ex: I was blown away by ME2 but at the end of the day it's simply just a great game I played).

Haha, wow, this is almost identical to me. I had just turned 8 in October though, now that I think about it.

Ocarina of Time will forever be my favourite game of all-time for that reason. There's a handful of games I could argue are "better", but no experience will ever top or define me like Ocarina did when it comes to gaming.

You know, OoT is the one game I remember exactly where I was when it came out as I got my drivers license that very same day and borrowed my dads car to go pick it up.

The thing I always remember from OoT is that it felt like the first console game that was mine. I'd only ever played handhelds until I was eleven, I was a huge Pokemon geek, but I was fed up of playing Crash Bandicoot over and over, so I asked for a Gamecube for Christmas (much to the mockery of classmates and such, hah). I think in the year following me getting my Cube and playing through the LoZ disc, I got hold of Animal Crossing, Smash Bros Melee, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime 2, F-Zero GX and WarioWare GCN.

I think I can contribute my sudden turn from almost exclusively playing Pokemon to jumping straight into the entire early 2000s Nintendo back catalogue was because of me beating King Dodongo in OoT, and suddenly realising that sticking to Pokemon Sapphire wasn't so fun after all. :lol

So yeah, this QL brought back a lot of memories for me, despite the fact I only beat Ocarina in 2004. I think that says a lot about the game.

I remember when I got OOT.

My mom got it for me as a report card present. Only, I did pretty horrible that semester and my grades were bad.

She still gave it to me though, gold cartridge and all. Amazing woman.

Yeah. Weirdos.
Not really. I was firmly in the Playstation camp back then and so were most people my age. The neighbours had one though, and I remember going over to their place to watch them play OoT. I only actually played and finished OoT 5 years ago at the age of 18, on a laptop of all things. Even 8 years late to the party it was one of the better games I had ever played. Fond memories all around. Finished it again a year later on the N64.

My town must have been a Nintendo stronghold then because everyone pretty much had either a N64 and a PS1 or just a N64. It wasn't until years later that I had learned that the Playstation actually won that generation.

I love that Vinny randomly saved the day with the top-left hole plummet.

"hey smash those crates"

I live in Europe. You do the math. ;)
I regret missing out on gems such as OoT and Mario64 during my teens, but ultimately I made the correct hardware choice back then.

Thankfully once you get older you're not limited to a single console. :)

Mine too although I knew playstation was winning at the time because of the interwebs and the fact that I subscribed to pretty much every gaming mag at the time ;)

Also I got to enjoy Mario 64 for the first time with the superior DS version, so yup, Playstation victory in Europe worked out very well

The only gaming mag I read when I was that young was Nintendo Power so you can imagine what my perception of the gaming industry was at that time :lol I didn't start reading GamePro or EGM until I was 10-11.

Ha! Same here.

While I owned a N64, I never spent much time with the console as I despised the controller. The only game that I ever heavily invested in was GoldenEye. I've played the first few hours of Ocarina a few times (N64, GameCube, Wii Virtual Console) and it never hooked me. The only 3D Zelda I've ever finished was Twilight Princess. I guess I just prefer the 2D Zeldas.

I would really love it if GiantBomb didn't somehow cut off my downloads every 20 minutes. It makes watching QLs in "Progressive" mode basically impossible, and it even effects "Streaming" mode (thankfully, you can just restart the video and skip back to where you left off in "Streaming").

I really can't believe my eyes while watching this QL. I just want to reach through the monitor and slap Brad in the back of his head.

I still don't understand the logic behind not making the Master Quest available straight from the start. Apparently you must complete the game once to unlock it, which is something I don't want to do since I've completed OoT quite a few times already. I'd just like to get to the interesting part from the get go.

Vinny saved this QL for me, he's always hilarious.

Well, at least he didn't die. Though part of me might have.

But the end of the quick look was pretty good. I'm a little more excited to play this now, I never did finish master quest.

I've been wanting to replay OoT for a while and have been waiting for this version since I heard about it. It's silly how excited I am for sunday considering I already own 3 copies of this game.

I'm raging right now watching both Vinny and Brad with the box puzzle. I can't watch anymore after the umpteenth time they break the boxes.

Please tell me they solve it. It's too heart-wrenching to witness. I mean....wow.

They solve it...eventually. I was shaking my head at that too.

That OoT quick look was painful. From Brad mid-boss fight to the crushing boxes a billion times then wandering off to the actual boss fight. I think Vinny should have been the driver in this one.

Aw, I thought it was pretty amusing. =)
