I feel old now.
The guys are knackered from E3, Jeff's lever-pulling in the Duke quicklook was hilarious as well. Love them.EricDiesel said:Hey Brad, you see that weird group of shapes on the bottom screen that sometimes turns blue when you enter a room? That's a DUNGEON MAP. It shows where you've been and where you should go next. Crazy concept for a Zelda game, I know.
It's a good thing I watch Quick Looks for funny banter and not gaming skill. Good lord, man. Haha.
How so? I never played and never will play a Zelda game, can you explain to me why it would look better if someone else would play it?StuBurns said:Brad's making this look like the worst game ever made, quite the achievement.
Well he's picked probably the ugliest part of the game which doesn't help. It looks like Xen or something. There are some beautiful locations in the game. Mostly he's just taking forever though. I know it's kind of meme that he's bad at games, but he seems to have a pretty bad sense of placement. You'd play like this if the bottom screen was broken.derFeef said:How so? It's also on the GC if you'd rather pick up a much cheaper machine to play it on.megamerican said:Yeah, I was one of those kids who got a PSX and whose parents steadfastly refused to get another system. I have only experienced Ocarina second-hand from watching friends / relatives play. Being on the fence about the 3DS in general, this Quick Look did not leave the best impression. Glad to hear it's not indicative of the actual game.
Ah okay, I thought the outdoors looked great actually and yeah, the map thing was frustrating to watch even for me. But I like to se non-perfect demos of games actually. If everything hits and fits, it kind of looks boring and not challenging.StuBurns said:Well he's picked probably the ugliest part of the game which doesn't help. It looks like Xen or something. Out of interest, why will you never play a Zelda game?
lol yeah it was. Vinny should do more QL'sLCfiner said:QL was funny. I loved how Brad is so obsessed with finding hearts that he crushes those boxes, what, 4 times? after Vinny says to take the box to the switch up the ramp.

Plus the Wii (along with MM).StuBurns said:It's also on the GC if you'd rather pick up a much cheaper machine to play it on.
Oh, I'm only half way into the video it seems, I might have spoken too soon about the areas shown.derFeef said:Ah okay, I thought the outdoors looked great actually and yeah, the map thing was frustrating to watch even for me. Regarding your question - that would derail the thread, so better not discuss it here![]()

And I'm dying to know why you'll never play a Zelda, I hope it comes up in another thread.
Sounds like you're already sharpening your knifes.Vinci said:By all means, derail.
I'm certainly not. I like Zelda, but it's no holy cow or anything. If he comes back and bags on Ico I might have to make a quick detour to Gabe's office though.slaughterking said:Sounds like you're already sharpening your knifes.![]()

I enjoy sailing in wind waker >_>
Wind Waker was saved by the art style for me. I care about the characters because they are cute/distinct looking and they have those little voice samples that make the over-all impression of their person hilarious. Like that one dude standing on top of the starting island with a looking glass who does this "HOO!" sound when you talk to him. awesome motherfucker. The fish too. It's an amazing way of giving characters a voice without full voice work, and I actually prefer it as it gives you a lot of room to project characteristics on to them, which I enjoy.Green Scar said:That's some kind of fucked-up paradox.
I agree, sailing was great when you were in the mood for exploring. OoT is far from boring though. The bosses alone deliver enough excitement to carry the whole game, but there's so more interesting stuff that happens in that game. The last 20 minutes or so of that QL were proof of this, Zelda's flight and the reawakening of Link are fantastic moments.
Don't get me even startedStuBurns said:I'm certainly not. I like Zelda, but it's no holy cow or anything. If he comes back and bags on Ico I might have to make a quick detour to Gabe's office though.
I guess 'entertainment' can mean all kinds of things to all kinds of people.Nintaiyo said:Brad did fine, and he actually makes it more entertaining that way.

It is terrible design. I might have tried to shame them just to see if they were integral to the puzzle.BobJustBob said:What people need to be asking is why critical puzzle elements are destructible.

There weren't clickable analog sticks so they didn't know how to include a breadcrumb trail.Rez said:Because this is from a time when Nintendo didn't baby you through every step of the way?

It's entertaining for about a minute, but it makes for a pretty bad quick look.RomanticHeroX said:I'd almost swear Brad is playing to character now. Brad puts me to shame at things like Starcraft and Doom, then fumbles on a really obvious crate puzzle. I think he's entertaining doing both.

Doom 2 XBLA quick look, it's a controller, but it's on there.pootle said:I think he's just a slow but thorough learner. Is there any video of him playing Doom? Starcraft is wasted on me as I'm not a fan of RTSs but I would like to see Brad play Doom, a game I know well and I could have an idea how good he is at it.

There's a QL for the XBLA Doom. I'm pretty sure he Brads it up.pootle said:I think he's just a slow but thorough learner. Is there any video of him playing Doom?
