I think that sometimes it's warranted, though. These are videogames, after all, and when you're presented with a gameplay puzzle, the need to solve it becomes ingrained in your mind.
When you've already solved it five minutes ago while the guy you're watching helplessly flails around missing the literally most obvious thing in the world, it begins to eat at you:
"I know how to solve this puzzle. I want to move on."
And the longer that person spends not seeing the obvious puzzle solution and not moving on, the more it bugs you, and bugs you, and bugs you. And then it hits that moment, after minutes of aimlessly wandering around, where Brad breaks the crate for the fifth time and says he's probably missing something and you're like
"I am going to reach through this monitor and strangle you, Shoemaker."
