The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

Since they recently got You're in the Movies I hope they do one on that. Not that I'm interested in the actual "game". I just think it could make for a hilarious QL.
 
Just got done watching numerous Quick Look episodes, and wow... Won't even continue watching these if I want a proper look on any given game I may have missed before. I mean, their sense of humor works for them more often than not so at least they're good for a few laughs, but I loathe how they go out of their way to NOT get accustomed to the game before they start recording. To the point where it's usually just painful to watch them play. It's especially humorous when they're just plain bad at a game and then ask themselves who this game is for, almost solely (in my view at least) because they're not doing well. Just take a look at their Resident Evil 5 Versus video: Brad at one point mentions that RE controls don't fit in a multiplayer setting, while at the same time he - from the looks of it - has no clue what to do in either mode. AND he's using the always abysmal Quickmatch option to boot for added annoyance. I should note that I dislike the DLC though, so it's not as if I'm not trying to defend this lousy add-on content.

So far I've only genuinly liked the Bionic Commando Quick Look, if I were to ignore the more comical episodes like Crash Time or Dragonball Evolution. GTI Club Plus and House of the Dead's Quick Look on the other hand were two of their worst video's. Bottom line: I'd appreciate this show more if they kept following their Skate 2 approach (i.e. a Quick Look that's actually informative for the viewer), but sadly they're generally not that interested in that kind of thing for the time being...

I just look at the videos as okay, what's it like to sit down and play this game? I enjoy seeing the game from the start menu, seeing what the learning curve is like, etc. (plus laughs) If I want a real overview of the full game I'll read a review or preview.
 
Hey giantbomb, you're importing the FFXIII demo and quicklooking it aren't you?

And please endurance run DBZ:E - one of the IGN guys said they beat the story mode in under 2 hours

I don't even care if they shit on it, I'd much rather hear their commentary than some stale playthrough on youtube.
 
Does Giant Bomb's video player ever freeze anyone elses computer? It's happened 4 or 5 times to me and I have to restart my computer to fix it. Really annoying.

Gerstmann. 1L of Pepsi and Orange cupcakes... Dude needs a different kind of endurance run. I'm concerned.

Love the videos, though. It would be awesome if the behind the scenes showed more of the stress that the corrupted video was causing to Vinny.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Why block extra media from a demo? Demo's are meant to help promote the game!

I just got done watching some of the Wanted quicklook for fun and yeah, is Brad like bad at videogames or something? ...or is it deliberate?
 
This endurance run is one of the best things of the site - I always wanted to know what's up with Persona, but i'd never play those damn games... now, I even might as well! :D

GREAT job on Vinny's part salvaging the episode, and a kickass helpeful link to boot! We'll know what to do if we ever get a corrupt video now.

It still amazes me that Vinny can't get an account here on GAF.. he was declined twice already or smth... tsc tsc tsc

All the best for the GiantBomb guys. Jeff/Ryan/Brad/Rich were the reason I went to GameSpot in the first place, and it's great that three of them are still doing the same thing now. That's one site i'll always be a member of.

It's strange... if the endurance run finished before they completed the game I think I'd be forced to buy a PS2 and P4.

But I know I wouldn't find it half as enjoyable without their commentary. :D

to me it's cemented the fact that I can never play an jrpg again, alone. and since my friends don't like that girly shit, I'm probably never playing a traditional jrpg again.
