The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

The Persona 4 endurance run continues to be awesome, though today's (coughFridaycough) video was probably the boringest of the bunch. Of course thats only because they are grinding pointlessly. Should be hilarious though when the optional boss whips them out :lol

As one of the biggest God Hand fans on this forum, and someone who pimped that game a lot when it didn't get it's due, I can honestly tell you that this game is not like God Hand at all. If you want a comparison, think of Dead Rising. It's not so much about murdering everyone, it's about chaining together kills to get a higher score, which in turns makes the level progress faster.

Basically, you are dropped into an open level where not everything is opened to you so far with the goal of unlocking the boss to fight. To unlock to the boss you need to complete a series of tasks, often times it's getting a certain amount of points to do this. So, the challenge isn't so much that it's hard to beat (it does ramp up even on normal, never close to God Hand level, nor does it even have the fluidity in controls) but being able to properly chain killings and attain a higher score.

I don't think that they have been doing a good idea of explaining what this game actually is, which is why there is a lot of misconception.
I didn't mean to compare them that directly. I was just using God Hand as a quirky 'one note' kinda game that is stays rewarding for a long time due to the high challenge.

I'm just worried that, because it doesn't appear that the moves used in the video aren't dynamic in their outcome (for instance a sign post and a tire leaves the enemy in the same state regardless of which you apply first), it will become uninteresting once you've seen all the moves - which seems to be what is supposed to motivate you to progress through the game.

Just watched the Madworld Quick Look. Game looks repetitive and the enemy AI seems idiotic. It was basically enemies running up to the main character and waiting for him to grab them and impale them on something.

This isn't a mature game. It's a game for 12 year olds.

my thoughts exactly

I think the Persona4 Endurance run may have ruined it for me, now that I finally have it. Not in a spoiler sense, but in the sense that playing it without Jeff and Vinny talking over it feels empty somehow. I'm actually holding off playing some more until the next Bombcast goes up to see if that'll recreate it.

Then neither of you have played the game.

Right. But I watched a Giant Bomb Quick Look at Madworld and then I posted impressions of watching the Giant Bomb Quick Look in the Giant Bomb Quick Look thread.

Watch the Quick Look and tell me the gameplay footage that is shown doesn't look repetitive, easy and sophomoric.

Well yeah... but they're on the normal difficulty near the beginning of the game. It gets fairly difficult later on in the game, and in hard mode the AI ramps up quite a bit.

this has to be good.

The game, i don't know.. doesn't look that solid to me.

Really? your willing to pay $30+ on this peace of shit?

This is off-topic, but I remember a podcast a few months ago Jeff and Ryan used three different descriptions for the current state of the economy: the recession, the economic downturn and something else. What was the third one?

:lol

your point?

why do we need someone clarifying they haven't played the game when they CLEARLY said as much? here's a clue... people can read. even if you think we can't, we don't need you and him re-posting something already in black & white. you're both obviously trying to make some other kind of point, so why not just say it instead? though I have no idea what yours is.

oh yeah...

..yeah I suppose people could have just read that on their own. but good thing I'm here, just in case they can't read. ohh wait!

RE5 Versus looked like ass, and not epic ass like Dragon Ball, just ass.

That Dragon Ball video is probably the best quick look I've seen. They should do a Media Blowout on it. Developer interviews, etc. You hear me Rudds?!

I love RE5 and think it's worth every penny but yeah this looks like a bad afterthought gone BAD.

I do like how they made people pay for it on the side though. No way in hell this mode survives 6 months, and capcom probably turned a nice additional profit on it.

Ugh everything I've seen from RE5 makes it look like a rushed out piece of crap.

The control scheme and inventory system was enough to turn me off the demo, but the that VS mode looked equally as half assed.

Plus it's DLC, plus it's on the disc too I think.

What... sure it's not perfect but... rushed out piece of crap?

I think this is a bit of a misnomer. The assets are on the disc, but the mode, rule set, etc. aren't.

How big is the download?

It's 1.86 MB on the 360.

That's bigger than your normal 108K unlock key, so it's not ENTIRELY on the disk, but...

One thing everybody forgets is that the 360 and PS3 versions were patched before the DLC was released, and this kind of gamemode *has* to be delivered via a patch (since it requires new code). And since it requires very few new assets, the DLC size doesn't really matter.
