There's no way to save the GiantBomb video streams to disk, is there?

I use Flashgot. whenever there's a flash video being played in the browser, an icon appears at the bottom, and when I click it, it downloads the videos directly.

"Oh Jeff you just cream pied me":lol

That Buzz one is hilarious so far. Most of the questions I never heard of. Even that Australian singer I have never heard once here.:lol

they are getting tony hork ride this week :D:D:D
QL or bust!

edit: oh shit it has 8 person multiplayer... :lol they should buy 8 and have a giantbomb board-off, wood on wood.

the new Buzz looks really good. much improved with both the visuals and presentation. i agree with Jeff about the UK-centric questions.

To be fair, asking a brit a Toby Keith question is probably worse than any of the UK-centric questions that I noticed in the first 30 minutes of the QL.

I don't know. Toby Keith is such a country-ish name and I think most people know Willie Nelson has got something to do with country. That's how I came to the correct conclusion anyway.

Or maybe you haven't gotten to the channel island question yet. That one is unknowable by anyone outside of the UK.

"what year did europe leave WWII"
That's a pretty good question.

And again, there's a question that is essentially 'who's your vice-president?' and a couple of them got that one wrong.

There's a Tony Hawk RIDE unboxing video up. Can't wait for that quick look.

They should film it differently, though, like two angles simultaneously (screen + board). Also, they should make the video windows larger.

Watching them playing the game is painful. They clearly aren't good at Wii shooters.

Weird. In some places the game looks pretty nice while in others it looks like the PC version running in 640x480 on lowest settings on a netbook. You can really tell that they just downgraded the existing code base instead of building something from the ground up for Wii, which, as always, is a recipe for disaster. It could be worse, I guess.

The Quick Look was a bit dry. In fact, I think I enjoyed seeing Crushed all up in the comments more than the actual Quick Look. :lol

Put yourslef on MY shoes. I'm a PC user, so I believe Dual Analog First Person Shooters are already broken. Show me a FPS game where the gun is waving all around the fucking screen and I'm almost screaming in anger. :lol

edit: And before this thread turns into a "OMG YOU'RE WRONG", I'm not enforcing my opinion nor asking anybody to try to convert me. It's just a statement.

cod 4 version looks surprisingly good

especially if you consider that people claimed that it will never be possible on the wii..

i just watched the vid and heard that cod wii will have coop (the second player basically playing a on rails shooter while the first player is controlling the camera)

since the 360 version did not have local coop i might get this after all

It still isn't; Reflex is incredibly low-rent in places and doesn't run at 60 frames per second (plus the frame rate isn't consistent).

i dunno i think it looks good for a cheap cash in

it looks very well playable and local coop is a nice addition... i remember when i wanted to play cod 4 with my friend splitscreen coop and it did not have that option (which was pretty standard back then.. look at gears or halo 3)

No doubt, it definitely looks a whole lot better than most other Wii ports that somehow look barely a step above 2001-2002-era PS2 graphics despite the fact that the system should be easy to program for because it's based on ten-year-old tech. But let's not get too hasty about saying "it's just like the regular versions!" when it's obviously missing a bunch of the hallmarks of said version (again, 60fps).

oh wow i would never say such things.. i said it looks surprisingly good.. ofcourse the ps360pc version look superior.. that is a given

Oh god. That multiplayer. People standing 5 feet apart struggling to shoot each other.
Really? I saw Jeff struggling to turn around and aim in iron-sights since he had sensitivity set so low, but nobody else in that video seemed to be doing any struggling.

That corridor battle at the end was terrible. In any other version of the game it would have been an immediate blood bath.

but then again there are a lot of noobs in cod4r wii right now since it has been out for like what.. 1 week..?

I remember reading lots of hype about the Wii before it was released and a quote has always stuck in my mind, it basically said how it could "kill the mouse and keyboard." After watching the COD4 video I feel like an idiot for giving that article the time of day. :lol

It looks awful. I wish people would just make more games like Galaxy.

FPS games on the Wii cause discomfort for my arm after a short while. I constantly have to readjust until I get the position just right, and even then I readjust after a while.

hey... fps controlls on the wii are still pretty good.. cod 4 is probably not the best example but there are games that have damn good controlls (metroid prime triology for example)

More like Wii shooters clearly aren't good. That looked horrendous.

Bullshit. I've played only like 3 Wii shooters (COD3, MP3, sorta Battalion Wars 2) and my play doesn't even look close to what they play like. Hell my control stopped looking that janky within an hour of playing COD3.

Have you tried Wii controls for longer than an hour? There's always a learning period, so unless you've actually tried Wii FPS controls don't base your opinion of them off of this Giant Bomb quick look. If I had anything resembling capture equipment I could easily show off the accuracy of Wii controls after some minor practice.

Foliorum Viridum said:
I never said that there's not some decent FPS' on the Wii, simply that it pales in comparisons to normal controllers, and especially PC. :)
Compared to regular sticks I would say that Wii-mote>sticks all the way when it comes to FPS:s. So much more fluid and accurate.
M&K is in another league of course.

COD4 looks fine on the Wii. FPSs work great on the Wii once you have the controls and sensitivity the way you want them.
agreed

yup of course mouse and keyboard are the best controlls for fps games.. but wiimote blows dual stick out of the water imo
