Do you know how many games you could replace Killzone 3 with and come up with the same argument?

For example:
Holy shit at the Killzone apologist club coming in full force!

Not at all. Halo: Reach has vehicles, extensive matchmaking capabilities, a wide range of toggleable online options, and Forge mode.

Brink has the sliding/parkour element of traversal.

Team Fortress 2 has crafting, item selection and numerous classes.

I am GENUINELY CURIOUS, NOT AS A FANBOY IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, what unique features, such as those, does Killzone 3 have to differentiate itself from the competition?

Why do people come to a thread to boast that they "don't get" a certain game or genre. It's like walking into a classroom and saying I don't "get" math.
OK, lets say I don't get math. Please explain to my why I should get math, or what I am missing.

Hmm... well, um.. 3D? Right?

I'm into it because of the unique look and controls. Oh, there's also the fact that Killzone 2 allowed a single game to smoothly flow from game type to game type in a playlist instead of going back to a menu. I'm sure that will be back in 3. I thought that was a neat idea and haven't personally seen it used anywhere else since.

Why not go to the KZ3 beta thread and ask that very same question? Surely they will answer you better than people here. Don't forget to include your comment about genericness!

It's class based and has some unique ideas withing the classes like the bots that can follow you around. Also it has Warzone, which is a gamemode that changes into every gamemode over the course of one game (no oter shooter has that to my knowledge). Although the game is sci-fi the weapons have a more "real" feeling to them. It looks fucking awesome.

As I enjoy more the infantary class based style of play. That's why Killzone 2 was played alot in MP from me. There is no other console shooter that delivers this for me.

How about if you're genuinely curious you don't phrase the question in a way that makes you sound like a douche?

Because I am commenting on the Quick Look from Giantbomb, which did not show anything specifically unique to this game.

Also, thanks for the personal attacks with no explanation on what makes Killzone 3 unique from the competition! You're taking great strides in proving to me the game you seem to really really like (but never played outside of its beta test) is good!

The Platform that it's an exclusive game to. That's pretty much it.

yeah. like jeff said "every FPS is made for the 360 then they put it on the ps3", KZ is an exception to that.

As does Brad, Vinny, Dave, Drew, Alex, Matt, Will Smith, Will Smith and I think the dog as well.

all of them are better than him at every game too.

Like suggested, go to the Killzone 3 beta thread and pose the question. There are many others there that can help define what makes it different.

My post was not to specifically attack you, just point out that saying something is "generic" is not a great way to dismiss something. Generic has a different meaning to different people.

Again, people with lots of experience on the Killzone games should explain it better than random guys that just watch GB QLs. If you're really interested I don't see what's stopping you.

And if you actually went to the beta thread you'd see me complaining about a lot of stuff. :lol I personally btw have not call you names, other than calling your original comment for what it was. Trolling.

Xater and Barrenmind have already answered you, anyway. I would add that KZ2 at least has a more deliberate and slower pace than your CoD's, and more realistic controls than your average twitch shooter, with the way you aim and move around. KZ3 unfortunately has dropped most of that and is actually closer to your run of the mill FPS in how it controls and behaves.

What about the Killzone 3 beta differentiates it from any other online FPS? You have by-the-numbers guns, you're running through industrial settings, shooting guys. Outside of the eye candy it looks as generic as generic can be.

That's because it is. By the numbers shooter with thick covering of post process effect developer jizz is killzones calling card.

Yes, because every negative comment made towards a game is trolling. Generic isn't necessarily even a negative thing. I also would assume, as someone who is the 10th most frequent poster in the Killzone 3 beta thread, you would be able to give a very brief rundown of Killzone 3's cool features that differentiate it from the competition, which weren't apparent in this quicklook.

To me KZ2 was unique not thanks to it's look or setting but thanks to the feel of the character movement. It looks like KZ3 dumped that feel... Kinda worries me.

And that ending was great.

I hope we get a demo again, I kinda liked that as well.

Edit: OMG Sims is so boring. I don't think I can go through this QL.

Thanks for ignoring the rest of my post, a winrar is you.

Well the player movement was the thing EVERYONE complained about, both critics and gamers alike. Although I wasn't in that crowd I understand Guerilla was in a tough position as they had no choice but to change it. They literally had to choose between:

"They changed the only unique thing about this series!"

or

"They didn't even change the biggest gripe about the previous game!"

:(

Wow he's lucky that they seem new to KZ online, they let him walk right by. Is there something new about saboteur that don't give him away so easily now?

KZ3 has vehicles, extensive matchmaking, and a wide range of toggleable options. And a unique Warzone mode that is brilliant.

KZ3 has a cover system. Also jetpacks for traversal!

KZ3 has unlockable items / outfits and numerous classes, deploy-able flying and fixed turrets.

On top of that it has one of the best (if not THE best) graphics/animations in a console FPS. Incredible art design. Not to mention the incredible audio design. It even has an interesting story for the singleplayer and to setup the atmosphere for the world. For further icing on the cake it has 3D and Move support.

If you were genuinely curious you would already know these things just by watching a trailer or two. I am not even convinced you watched the quick look before you trolled.

It's the idea that an ignorant person would into a house of knowledge to brag about his ignorance instead of humbly begging for enlightenment.
