One of my favorite Quick Look "moments" was during the QL for the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta, when Ryan rounded a corner and got glitched into the stairs and he and Vinnie flipped the fuck out :lol "KILL MEEEEEEE" "OH MY GAAAWWWD" "THE TELEPORTER DIDN'T WORK" :lol

The end of that Quick Look is also great when Ryan decides to slaughter his entire co-op team before quitting the lobby :lol
 
Darkest of Days, Story Hour Adventures, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Rogue Warrior are all pretty hilarious. From this year, my favorite quicklook is the one Ryan and Vinny did for Wipeout: The Game. Tomena Sanner is also pretty hilarious.

but to be fair Giant Bomb is "Xbox 360" focused website ,so he don't need to play anything on PS3 for his work anyway( Brad for example don't have a Wii at all).

where I said they "biased"? the site do "focus" on its coverage/videos on one system (360) more than the others , that all, nothing about "bias" shit here.
 
They play every multi plat game on 360, I don't see how that makes it a focus or anything as it makes no difference for the most part. It's not like they ignore PS3 exclusives.

There's a huge problem for PSN profiles since you can't just take them anywhere. For 360 games, they keep their profiles on memcards so they can use them at work and at home. That's naturally going to make them more inclined to play the 360 versions of games.

But even that isn't true (just to name a few).

It would be disingenuous to say that they don't typically buy the 360 version if they buy the game themselves, but in general, they play whichever version the companies send them. If you need proof of that, go back to the March Bombcasts where Brad was so frustrated by the poor performance of the 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII they were sent by Square that he went out, bought a PS3 copy, and restarted the game after already playing the first eight hours.

Why couldn't they have a profile on their work PS3 and their home PS3?

They're not biased just because they play their games on 360. When I request review copies, I often ask for the version I think will run the best. Most of the time, that's the 360 version. That doesn't mean I'm biased towards the 360 -- in fact, there are some vocal members on GAF who think I'm anti-360 -- it just means I want the version of the game that will give me the best experience.

To be fair, GiantBomb are having a lot of trouble keeping their 360 Achievement stuff updated since Microsoft's latest Dashboard update.

My 360 Achievements on GB are so out of date they're not really worth looking at.

Yeah, I really wish they'd figure out what's gone wrong already. There's a couple achievements I really want to check the rarity of, but the fact that I've played these games hasn't even appeared in my profile.
 
The weird part is, I have to wonder why they don't have Trophy support. The reason Xbox 360 Achievements broke is apparently they were pulling that data from Xbox.com or something, so when they redesigned all the pages, GiantBomb's little web spider or whatever wasn't pulling the right data from the right place anymore.

If Sony's listing trophy data on a website, surely they could just have a similar spider collect that stuff?

Uh, sure you can. Create a new user, sign in with your existing account. Boom. If you have any save files on a USB drive that were created with that account, it'll work fine.
 
Yeah, Sony made them stop. They don't like sharing that data.
Well, I've got an update on that, and it's not terrific news. Sony has informed us that it's not looking to share its trophy data with external sites at this time.

The 360 achievement problems are really strange though. They blame the new dashboard, but every other achievement tracking site still synchs daily, and even joaomgcd's one he built single-handedly for GAF (here) updates more frequently and seems to be pulling more data, so I'm not sure what the GB crew is doing wrong/differently that they can't get it right anymore.

Watching the GT5 quick look now

16 minutes in and they've only been through two menu's and infinite loading sessions already. God damn :lol

Main issue with this would be locked save files that you can't copy.

They aren't biased, but they sure don't really care to look into PlayStation stuff. Take the Bombcast two weeks ago when they thought Pac-Man was XBL exclusive. They, until recently, didn't even bother mentioning PSN stuff in new releases (this seems to have changed after Sony started to do "The Drop" on the blog.)

They made a really big deal of it during the HH that other achievement sites were down as well. What's the actual timeline between how long the different tracking sites were offline after the update?

I thought the main reason they didn't used to mention PSN stuff was because the PRs they got from Sony were always about the previous week?

Companies outside of Sony put press releases out for PSN stuff. All they would have had to do was look.

To be fair to GB, none of the podcasts I listened to mentioned it was coming to PSN until it actually did. I think Namco Bandai is to blame in this case.
 
The Giantbomb guys seems to fall under the generic "they prefer achievements and the general online interface of XBLA over PSN for multiplatform games" more than having any kind of platform bias. As this is the quicklook thread, it's worth mentioning that all of the quick looks that they do of PSN games and Move games provide more coverage of that stuff than the majority of websites that I've seen. The closest thing to disproportionate coverage of the 360 that I can see are the Game Room quick looks, but those are their own delightful brand of twisted humor at this point.
 
Also, seeing as how it's pretty much necessary in their job to pay for Xbox Live it makes sense they would be doing more things for the service they pay for.

More of a hassle than you think. If Sony cared about their releases being announced then, they would have had the press releases out early like Nintendo and Microsoft.
 
Also Pac Man CE the original was an XBLA exclusive, as was Galaga Legions, so they got confused that way.

Me and Kassatsu send them the XBLA / Game Room / PSN stuff each week anyhow since MS are unreliable themselves :P

I don't think its just the fact that they prefer the achievements etc... they make it seem (unintentionally i presume) as if the ps3 versions of multiplat games don't even exist. That's how just about every cast i listen to is. They'll get to talking about the game and everything they say about multiplayer or whatever they are using xbox lingo (dont know who else to say that :lol ). Just about every single gaming website/podcast has some kinda of bias towards microsoft unintentionally or not. I guess it just kinda "bums me out" (vinny) that since I only own a gaming PC and a ps3 that I don't get to hear a lot about games on my systems. However i do love the podcast and the quick looks either way so its not a very big deal to me, its just something you gotta get used to. A lot of its not their fault at all since apparently publishers send out 360 versions way more often than ps3 versions. But still, i gotta say its preeeetty obvious at this point that giantbomb likes them some xboxes! :D

and brad shomaker just hates the wii cause apple didnt make it. vinny is a pc snob. ryan davies is the best and most unbiased among them

I want you to think about the various smaller projects on psp, ds, wii/wiiware, and even the ps3/psn that get mentioned in a release date and at the very best will get a quicklook. Why the hell isn't there a single bit.trip review on the site? Limbo deserved the review process compared to any one of the 5 bit trip games that have been released? Oh, I'm being stupid, its a wiiware game, THATS WHY.

Well, yeah, but the point is that Giant Bomb isn't interested in the fire-hose approach to video game coverage. Our editorial team is small and experienced, and our job is to highlight the stuff that we feel is significant, either to us on a personal level, or for video games at large. That's not everything, but it's still a lot. Though, we're not real big on sports games, so don't expect too much meaningful/informed Madden coverage.
