But I can understand his dislike of a multiplayer aspect in that he couldn't assume other people would perform their role.

Hate this.
No, but every shooter quicklook seems to be like that. Crysis 2 was the same.MMaRsu said:Did he really say that? What a fuckwit.

Jabronie said:That huge reticule may be what's giving them the impression the shooting doesn't 'feel' good. The easiest way for me to dislike a shooting mechanic is to not know or have no control of where the projectiles are making contact with an enemy. Call of Duty does this well with that extra crosshair that pops up when you're making contact; other games can do this well with a sound or rumble of the control maybe.

Wasn't it the opposite? I remember him saying it was too similar to CoD with its multiplayer suite? Jeff has said numerous times that the CoD formula needs a major overhaul and some new ideas to stay interesting.derFeef said:No, but every shooter quicklook seems to be like that. Yeah I really wished they had someone else do the FPS Quick Looks to be honest, after having watched him play several shooters in QLs and TNTs I can safely say that he simply has one style of play and is totally unable to participate in some teamwork. Like I have never seen an occasion when he DOESN'T intentionally make sure to separate from his team to go all Rambo, which hurts some games since that's not really the intended playstyle.snoopeasystreet said:I can never get a good indication of how good a shooter is by watching Jeff play. He never really explores anything unique about the game and just plays it like Call of Duty. Watching him play Bulletstorm was the most frustrating experience.
Meh, they can occasionally deliver some good and valid criticism and there's surely some to be given to Brink. They're really not worse then your 1ups or IGNs.snoopeasystreet said:This is another thing I don't like. A lot of the time the criticism of a game is, "it's not good" or "the game is broken" and that's it. It's not that big of a deal though. I don't go to GB for high brow criticism. I go to them for hilarious content.
DaBuddaDa said:I also dislike watching Jeff play or hear him talk about FPSes. In Bulletstorm he walked around with an assault rifle shooting at guys. In Killzone 3 he walked around with an assault rifle shooting at guys. In Crysis 2 he walked around with an assault rifle shooting at guys. In Brink he's walking around with an assault rifle shooting at guys. He never tries different weapons, different classes, special modes, special abilities, nothing. When people ask him to do something different for christ's sake or play a different class, he refuses.

So if game makers want the the player to have choice of how they play, then one player always chooses the same play style and then conplains that games are to similar, then is it still the fault of "game designgame designgame designgame designgame designgame designgame designgame designgame designgame design"?Linkified said:Really that comes down to game designs, if you can power through COD style - thats not Jeff's problem its really the game design though.

At this point the COD folks should just skip to ID Tech 5.Totobeni said:meh.
But hell, I can't believe this is Doom 3 engine, shit look very good.
Let's Hope next gen Call of Duty games uses it.

How can you "power through" a multiplayer focused game? How could you even design your way around someone who wants to play the game that way? I guess you could just force people to use a different class/gun every round, but that would be ridiculous.Linkified said:Really that comes down to game designs, if you can power through COD style - thats not Jeff's problem its really the game design though.
Huh, you're right. I completely missed this news. It's weird to think of ID not liscensing their latest engine.Curufinwe said:Of course they won't be using either as id Tech is only for Bethesda games now.
Nobody wanted to license it anyway.Geoff9920 said:Huh, you're right. I completely missed this news. It's weird to think of ID not liscensing their latest engine.

sixghost said:I kind of can't believe they did a Brink quicklook with Bots. It's such a shame that none of the main 4 GB guys seem to give a crap about multiplayer that isn't Mortal Kombat. The way Jeff was describing why he didn't like the gunplay/grenades just seemed like it wasn't exactly like MW2.

They get into a MP game in the last 20 minutes or so but there was only one other human player on the other team.Htown said:So that quick look is 48 minutes and they only play with bots?

Yeah, I don't really understand why they did a quick look of this before the game is out.Kintaro said:Why do a Quicklook of an MP based game...when there is no one out there to play? It's nonsense.
EmCeeGramr said:I still think the weirdest FPS-related thing Jeff has ever said was that Killzone 3 "feels like a shooter from two years ago." It was like he was just now realizing that nearly every shooter since 2007, and especially since 2009, was exactly the same.
