So awesome man. You had to be there.
Space Whale was like, dude, and I was like woah.
Then he did this thing with his fin, and everyone freaked out
So cool. So cool.

The liquid shit looks amazing. I hate the floor shattering stuff though, that always pissed me off in Tekken too, you get an impact, some of the floor breaks, then magically disappears, looks stupid.Brandon F said:Probably not playing with the new Nvidia GT590xtreme card with PhysX hyperrendering turned to the maxest! It's the only way to experience Alice.

Price drops everywhere already. I'll get it when its $20Dizzy-4U said:The combat in Alice looks really nice and I'm glad to see it's not mash till everyone dies type of game.
I'm probably gonna buy it this week.
You have to see it on your screen, the giantbomb videos have HORRIBLE compression artifacts, even in HD quality. They said their amazon cloud server is the reason at one point.jett said:Did I say something inaccurate?

It's UE3.0 so it could probably run max'd out at 60fps on a netbook, PhysX notwithstanding.Brandon F said:Probably not playing with the new Nvidia GT590xtreme card with PhysX hyperrendering turned to the maxest! It's the only way to experience Alice.
Rez was also short. This is a shooter at heart. You are meant to replay it over and over again, trying to get the best score.nckillthegrimace said:Is Child of Eden really 90 minutes long like Ryan claimed? That seems like a poor value proposition. Not really my kind of game anyway, so whatever.
Yea, I don't understand why people are puzzled by this. They should look back at other rail shooters like Panzer Dragoon Orta and Sin & Punishment.ep85 said:Rez was also short. This is a shooter at heart. You are meant to replay it over and over again, trying to get the best score.

Oh nm, Amazon and a few retailers had it for preorder for $45. Guess they raised it back.SaitoH said:Where are you seeing price drops ?

Oh no, CoE is really hard. The first two levels are nothing in that quick look. The amount of purple bullets is insane on the later stages. The difficulty ramps up.nckillthegrimace said:I know rail shooters are generally more about getting the high score, but I can't think of a rail shooter I've played that is actually that short. It probably doesn't help that CoE appears to be totally devoid of any challenge, so it's not even an intense 90 minutes. It probably ramps up a bit as you approach the final level, but the quick look of the first two levels does not inspire much confidence.

YouTube's "720p" isn't even DVD quality. Very few streaming videos are.jediyoshi said:That's just farsical, even the layman VOD caster can render their video past 720p and slap it up on YouTube for it to be displayed natively. GameSpot allows streaming HD for non members, so people looking for trailers and general gameplay video may as well be looking there.
And it still blows my mind they haven't gone back and fixed this upload of theirs yet.
Doesn't seem like it would be hard with the PC version, either. The game looks goddamn atrocious and not fun to play in any of the footage I've seen.Zomba13 said:Started the DNF QL and about 8 mins in and it just seems like Jeff is trying to make the game look bad (though it's the 360 version so he doesn't need to try hard).
You don't get it. It's a masterpiece. Ask everyone that had their pre-order for 10 years.EricDiesel said:Doesn't seem like it would be hard with the PC version, either. The game looks goddamn atrocious and not fun to play in any of the footage I've seen.

It's the enthusiast press conspiracy. Only the Germans have the real score with their 8/10.
"[T]rying to make the game look bad" is just the best.
Laughing? I think you mean exasperated sighing. And Ryan asking if they can stop playing.Zomba13 said:I wanted to see more of them laughing at the game than the load screens.
HUh, what do you mean. Both schemes work and play great.Sega1991 said:Seeing Child of Eden being played with a controller and essentially becoming Rez 2 is like the ultimate summation of most if not all Kinect support.
That being said, the game is beautiful, as expected.
derFeef said:HUh, what do you mean. Both schemes work and play great.
Sega1991 said:If the game plays as good on gamepad as it does with Kinect, well, why bother spending money on Kinect?
If you already have a Kinect I guess it's pretty cool but outside of being a crazy early adopter who needs everything the moment it comes out, or being the sort of person tricked in to buying one on accident, owning a Kinect does not seem like the kind of thing one should currently be proud of.
I guess I just saw Child of Eden as, like, my Kinect Killer App. It would be the Kinect game that gets everything right and shows me a totally new experience and sells everybody on the concept. It was the game I figured I would need Kinect to experience "the right way".
But it's not that at all. It's Rez 2, and you lose basically nothing by subtracting Kinect integration.
Which means: SURPRISE! The game I thought would sell me on Kinect actually plays just fine on a gamepad.
Man, don't think anyone remembered about this..Dizzy-4U said:
Hey, it's not great design, but it IS very late 90s. This is exactly how games like SiN were designed. I can't say I've had any problems navigating myself, but for those who have completely forgotten those older games, I'd imagine it might be much more difficult. Also, as Jeff said, a weapon pickup or some other form of "HEY, GO THIS WAY" indication would have helped.
