The Halo 3 Beta Thread

If they did that, the people that bought crackdown specifically for the beta would probably be pretty upset

Well screw them, who buys a $60 game just to play an unfinished build of some other game? Seriously?

I think they'd be happy just to get to play it, because they're sure as hell not playing it now.

Yep, I don't care as long as i can play it. Should have been like that from the beginning anyway.

If that happened, Live would come to a standstill. Plus, people who bought Crackdown for the beta would go nuts, as others would be getting it for free where they spent $50.

I could care less really, but you see those freaks and that bungie forum, they would go apeshit, not that I really care about them. It would probably be pretty funny to see

Thousands of people.

And probably more like hundreds of thousands of people who it helped sway into buying. Like... "looks like a cool game.. plus it includes Halo 3 beta invite. Sweet!"

Is there some e-mail address we can spam while waiting for an official statement?

Believe me, I think both Microsoft and Bungie know how dire the community has made this situation:lol They know how much people freak out over Halo.

though I did buy crackdown mostly to play the beta, I don't give a shit at this point who else gets to play it, just let ME play it. Luckily Crackdown turned out to be a pretty damn good game anyway, eh..

Man, releasing the Halo beta to everyone would be quite a stress test. I think the Internet would break.

I think everyone that wants to get in will get in someway. I don't know anyone that doesn't have a chance to get in

The more I wait the more time I have to think why this is happening. How could they not see this? And its been 5 hours since the problem happened. What could take this long to fix? Theres no problem downloading for people who didn't use crakdown. The fix should basically be "enable downloading for crackdown players." How can it take this long?

Get in here frankles and explain.

What about the people who bought Crackdown for Crackdown, lost their data during the current DLC update and are now looking forward to Halo 3 beta for comfort? I know they sure as hell don't feel like playing Crackdown right now and I guess they can't play the Halo 3 beta either.

Now it's my fault? Sorry, when they said I could play Halo 3 if I bought Crackdown, I thought it was true.

Those Bungie forums have descended to a place I hope to never, never see again. I feel as if I just took a glimpse into game message board hell.

The bitching is turning into downright senseless, crazy blabbering. It's disturbing. :lol

Then again, who even pays money for a 360? Right, Speevy?

you sure didn't

you're in no position to tell people who spend hard-earned money to go screw themselves.

I can't believe they didn't test this shit before going live. WTF. It's just like that massive ****up over the Marvel Ultimate Alliance DLC. MS needs to do something about their QA.

(I still play Crackdown.)

It's kind of annoying that what was promised hasn't yet been delivered, but everybody who bought Crackdown will eventually get into the beta, if not for another day, and things will be ok again.

Plus, you know how it is with Microsoft. Their HDDs are so good that you pay double for them, and you need to pay them to test their games. They're going after Apple bigtime.

I mean, an answer would be nice.

Something like,

"we ****ed up, it'll be up tomorrow."

Instead, we get nothing.

But what do they care. Crackdowns have already been sold and everyone will still buy Halo 3 when it comes out.

Yes, use your anger. It gives you focus, makes you stronger.

A free marketplace download, though, would be crazy. I think Live would be down/semi-functional for weeks.

Bungie.net forums= hilarious. The suiciding guy, a bunch of brats whining about having "saved up all mi allowance for Crackdown."
I chuckle at those fools.

/sigh MS. :|

No Halo for me tonight, seriously how does a big company like this NOT test it or whatever is the problem, duuuurh I doubt many people will want to download the Halo 3 beta duuuuurh.

Way to piss off a whole bunch of people, screw you MS!

I'll try again tomorrow. ;( Maybe they'll have their shite together by then.

Take care guys, gl.

It's easy to chuckle at those fools, when you are already in the beta.

Must be nice.

You basically described what happened to my brother. When it happened I though, "man, sucks for him..."

then we both went to download the beta this morning and I though, "man, sucks for us..." :lol

They should have just included a postcard in the Crackdown box that you could mail in and they could email the code to you instead of the permenatly disabled download button.

sad....just sad...

I sense a YTMND brewing for Halo Suicide Guy.

Get in here frankles.

There are a lot of explanations. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's a simple fix.

For example, it could have taken a few hours to even determine what the problem was.

Crackdown might be f'd up - they might have screwed up the programming required to enable the "Download Halo 3" button. If it is, they may need to actually contact Real Time Worlds to ask them to fix it and get them a new build for a title update. Then they need to fast-track the certification process to get it on the XBL servers.

If it's something on the Xbox Live side of things, who knows how critical it actually is? Could be something simple - or could be they messed up the whole process of enabling Crackdown to launch Halo 3 beta download.

So yeah... no one knows, but if it was an easy fix, it'd have been fixed already.
