I'm not objecting, just pointing out why it seemed like plasmas seemed like they were in short supply - on one map they weren't there.Stinkles said:That's because we wanted you to play with Spike Grenades.
It seemed to me they were in shorter supply on Snowbound and Valhalla too. Maybe it's just me. I love plasma nades.GhaleonEB said:Plasmas were plentiful on Snowbound and Valhalla, but did not appear at all on High Ground.
GhaleonEB said:I'll play with your spike grenades any day, good sir.
I never minded, since there were always the spike versions around. The function was similar, and getting a stick is just as satisfying. I really need to hear that wet thwock sound again.Tieno said:It seemed to me they were in shorter supply on Snowbound and Valhalla too. Maybe it's just me. I love plasma nades.

I once stuck a Spike nade to a guy's visor, like he had a penis on his face. I wanted to save the film and watch it from his perspective but I couldn't cause it was only a betaurk said:

I still smile when I think about the time I stuck a plasma grenade to a Mongoose tire, saw the mongoose start driving away with one of the wheels glowing blue, then hear that wonderful squeal before getting a double kill.armubaba said:I LOVED the high-pitched squeal the plasma emitted right before it was going to explode. I really want to know what they used to create the sound for the Spike Nade. That was my favorite (even if I was on the receiving end). K-thunk.GhaleonEB said:The 'stick' sounds are one of my new favorite touches in the game. It applies to being stuck as well - in Halo and Halo 2 unless the plasma grenade is on your front you don't know white death is about to occur. Nothing like hearing the squish of a the spiker or that wonderful latch from the plasma and knowing you're a dead man. Many times I'd stick someone and they'd just stop moving, as if they suddenly became resigned to their fate. Even better was the time that was coupled with, "oh shit".

I second the pro-spike grenade movement, although I got a little sloppy with them toward the end of the beta.

How nice, they also used captures from my videos, just like in the paper Edge.GhaleonEB said:A bit of a bump, but I thought this belonged in here as a coda.
Edge wrote their review of the Beta (framed as a preview of Halo 3) online, and Next-Gen is hosting it. It's a great read and one of the ones that most lines up with my thoughts. It's all excellent so I'll quote the whole thing below.

I've seen both sides of that first hand. I've done that to myself quite a bit... Maybe 5-6 times throughout the Beta. :/Orodreth said::lol
Take a look at this one. Its a plasma one but really funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9IbdivxiuI
The guy had bad luck with the shield door.
I'd say not since he started the post with "How nice".squicken said:I take it next-gen didn't ask for permission?

The first time I saw someone do it was hilarious though. I had him trapped in the base while I was outside the shield door with the Ghost. Instead of just going through one of the many other exits, he decides to try and kill me with a plasma. Of course it bounced off and stuck to his arm, so I just boosted off and got the kill since he self-detonated.
:lol
Come to think of it.. I still haven't deleted the Beta from my HDD.

I keep thinking of how stuff like shield doors and man cannons will be used in campaign. So many possibilities.
Coincidentally, I was playing H2 yesterday and got up to the part where the Heretic Leader runs like a pansy and seals himself behind a "shield door". WTF HAX!GhaleonEB said::lol

YES. I wouldn't mind a point in the story where the area you're in gets hit by a blast from one of those super mortars. Buildings leveled, destruction all around and you're left standing in a huge crater. Then after the smoke clears and the holy light shines down upon you... you walk through the aftermath.Dirtbag 504 said:Man, I miss this thread. I can't wait to see how the bubble shield plays out in single player, I'm hoping for some times when death just rains down upon you and your main/only chance of survival is a bubble shield.
Yeah, pretty much. I hope equipment has a big role in the campaign.raYne said:Actually, that's damn near the Starry Night teaser isn't it? :lol

Neither did Edge.squicken said:I take it next-gen didn't ask for permission?
GhaleonEB said:Yeah. I've watched that ad so many times it's not even funny. Bungie is required to give us a bubble shield in Wraith battle; it would be too cruel not to. I must capture that moment in-game.
How so? I just changed my mind on what I wanted to say. I edit my post several times, most of the time. I'm an indecisive guy. :lolraYne said:Fixed to pre-edit status. Ghaleowned!![]()
Our final match was that/ Rockets/ Magnum one hit kills. Pink vs. Brown FTW!Frenck said:The most epic custom matches in the Beta were the ones where we sped up all the players to 300% movement speed, set the gravity down to 50% and gave everybody the Spartan Laser plus unlimited ammo as the starting weapon (the map was Valhalla).
Holy cow...
I had some saved films of the chaos and awesomeness that ensued![]()
Can't wait to set up some Spartan Laser only matches in the final version.
Buttonbasher said:Our final match was that/ Rockets/ Magnum one hit kills. Pink vs. Brown FTW!
We did too! I was surprised that if you ran at someone fast enough that it was possible to Splatter them!:lol :lolFrenck said:We had a funny Shotgun only match that way too, it was like jousting. People were lining up left and right, charged at each other and the one with the best timing won, crazy stuff. I love Halo for being able to modify the multiplayer experience in so many different ways, not even most MP only shooters end up having so many options to choose from, but Halo 3 still has the awesome SP mode with co-op.

The Drones are listed on halo3.com site. I hope they're more fun to fight. Though, they were not used much in Halo 2.BadAss84 said:I hope there are none of these flying enemy types (flying bugs, jetpack elites) in Halo 3, i'm not finding fighting them fun at all in 2 so far.
