What: Halo 3 Public Multiplayer Beta

When: May 16 at 5 a.m. PDT through June 6 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
- Bungie has added a countdown timer to their front page.

How: People who were selected through the "Rule of Three" and halo3.com programs should have already received emails confirming whether they got in through those means or not. If you were, a second email with you Beta key will go out as soon as the Beta begins.

The way most of us are getting in is through the purchase of Crackdown, which includes the Beta access on the disc. When the Beta goes live, it can be downloaded via the in-game content downloader (right now the Halo 3 Beta option is greyed out). To access it once it's downloaded, you need to launch the Beta from Crackdown - and keep the disc in. You cannot access it from your Dashboard. Copies with the Halo 3 Beta sticker are still available.

The press and others Bungie have invited are playing now.

I have moved the list of gamertags to this post, where I'll continue to update them. there's more gamertags in this post as well.
 
I got in through the Rule of Three Program. I'll be firing up my 360 once it starts I hope. Unless I'm still too addicted to Pokemon. I put Super Paper Mario and Tales of Legendia both on hold so I never know o.o;

I was pretty much going to buy crackdown just for this... glad crackdown turned out to be an awesome game. I can't wait for the beta, i'm just upset it's only 3 weeks!

On a slightly off-topic note, does anyone know what the new playlists are going to look like when Bungie puts the new maps into Halo 2 matchmaking next week?


My GT is sullichin. I will be on every day during the beta. **** everything else.
 
bought one of those $30 crackdowns to play this, figured 2 week beta and crackdown was worth $30 ...its my reward for being done with 1L year, have like 2 weeks off where I have nothing to do. Except catch up with videogames that I missed all this year and sleep

I don't know if its coincidence or not, but this works out fantastic for all of us with with finals finishing up around this time, thanks stinkles :)

Finals is next week and the week after I will make love to the H3 beta.

Hmmm... now that I think about it, with the new Gears maps, I guess I am able to wait. :D Still totally planning on taking Thursday off work for this. It seems the 3 maps included in the beta are going to be fairly large maps, I wonder how well they'll play in 4 -vs- 4 games? Really can't wait to see how the final-beta maps look and play, and the new weapons, and pickups, and, and... ! BTW, Awesome start to this thread Ghaleon!

Hey good to see a buddy from the ol IGN Boards over here:) . In fact I think you're still on my FL.

I remember we had quite a few big IGN games when the new maps dropped awhile ago. I used to be dbswisha but I changed my tag.

Oh and another thing. If I add you ******* you better get on. I hate adding people only to never see them be online.

Can't wait for this; I'll be playing the beta through Crackdown. I thought about buying the Gears maps to hold me over, but I don't see the point since Gears will be "dead" until the beta is over.
 
Can't wait!!

I don't like push to talk on the d-pad (gonna have to stop moving while I talk?), but maybe it will keep some people from flooding the channel...unless they discover tape!

I got in through Crackdown as well since I bought the game day 1. This is a nice little bonus. ;)

I think there a couple more equipment types that you could possibly add from the leaks.

- Power Drainer
- Radar Scrambling thingamajig (if thats not a Power Drainer)

I thought I'd stick to the official stuff for now; I'd rather be initially incomplete than set up a lot of people for disappointment.

Well, mine is low mainly because my 360 hasn't been connected to Live in about 3 months because I can't get around my college firewall. Finals end Monday so I should be all hooked up in time for the beta.

Yeah, you're still on my FL, you were smart when you changed your tag and sent out messages about it. My same little local group will all be on for the Halo 3 beta, including my friends wife who'll probably kick all our asses, seeing as she's had an extra 5000 hours of playing Halo 2 beyond us. We all migrated to 360 games while she stayed exclusive to Halo 2. She's a mean snipe now, so I'm kind of scared.

Kind of... you can instantly mute people from within the game, and if you add a player to your avoided player list, you'll likely not see them again. Other than that, stick to people on your friends list.

No. Just make sure it has the beta sticker on it. Although, I haven't seen 1 copy without the beta sticker. I don't know if they exist. :lol

It's not even about that. I just thought there would be higher scores seeing how most of GAF is the hardcore type that likes to do everything in a game.
