The Halo 3 Beta Thread

I really love the procedural animations. The guys on the buggy react like they would if they were experiencing all of those bumps and the guys on foot look like they are actually running up a hill as opposed to just using the same run animation as they would on flat ground.

Yeah, I was just driving the mongoose and I notice how my chief shifts his weight and looks around. Same with the guy who's standing and shooting with one hand. Pretty cool!
 
Thanks for the vid Blim. I laughed like crazy when you ran out of brute shot and kept clicking the trigger for more :lol The beta looks fun to play..I can't wait!
I also loved the sound of the brute spiker hitting against the armor.

Those "gorgeous wide angles" are the same FOV that the first person camera uses. There is no difference between it and the free camera used to snap those shots.

Sorry if it has already been posted but what exactly does it do? Drains your shields or is there more to it?

No pistol in Beta? Must be the MS internal Beta only then. Remember we don't get EVERYTHING with the beta... somethings aren't present what will be in the final product.

Damn Blims video ended just when he was about to pick up a weapon and blast that guy on the turrent :D

I must say it looks like awesome fun, I can't wait till wednesday.
 
Watched the 720p video...looks okay.
Not that I expected some magical super huge jump from alpha to beta, maybe the SP looks a whole lot better but I doubt it.
Gameplay looks like Halo. (great fun)

Don't mind me. I was just lamenting the fact that I asked for pistol impressions three times to no avail. Although it would make sense that the reason no one answered is because it's not there.

Yes, but here I'm just a lurker, waiting for bugs (that I don't already know about) to surface. Some of you are my testers now, heheh!

Incidentally, because I edited it out of my first post while I double checked, the FOV is currently around 72 degrees, subject to tweaking.

Awesome. Welcome aboard and please be sure to watch your step. This place gets kinda crazy sometimes as I'm sure Stinkles would know. :)
 
I have a question for all you lucky beta players..

how is the sticky aim? Is it more like Halo 2 or more like Halo 1? in-between?

Yes. That would be the Missle Pod. Fires many missles that start out slow, then detect their target and swarm in. Takes two or three to destroy a Warthog.

Running around with the turret owns. Seriously, this game has some of the best animation EVER.

I'm going to update the OP with some of the videos and screens now.
