[Sarcasm]You must not be a elite halo player who has logged 10,000 games. Then again where did you come from, everybody else is supposed to like it.[/Sarcasm]

Y2Kev said:I hate PTT for a few reasons.
In a heated situation, I often forget to push the button; furthermore, I'm not pulling my finger off the analog stick (that is, the only mechanism for saving my own hide) to contact my teammates.
Second, I dislike the PTT system in place. You tap it and hear the very obvious "line open," noise, but the "line close" noise often doesn't come when you're done talking and I'm never totally sure if the line is still open. Occasionally I will hit the button again and I won't hear "line open" and I'm not sure if everyone heard me or not.
Also, I dislike proximity chat coming through the speakers because my surround sound drowns that out. So, because of that, I have all voice directed through my headset. Because of that, I often lose track of who is in "proximity range." As a result, often I will say something thinking people are around me and then no one will hear me at all.
It's just wholly unnecessary IMO.

GhaleonEB said:I'm not a fan of "push to talk" in team games. Most of the time it's fine, but there have been a few instances where it was a problem. One happened a few days ago, when I came around a corner while defending the base on High Ground to find myself staring down the twin firing cylinders of the rocket launcher. I was a dead man.
I wanted to shout, "rockets in the base!" to warn others. But I hit the d-pad, waited for the squelching sound and then yelled it. But by then the rocket was well on its way, and my warning got cutoff by my messy death. So to my teammates it sounded like,
"Ro - yearrrrghhhhh!!!! - phssssssshhhhhhhhh......"
I got to watch in frustration waiting to respawn as two guys came barreling around another corner to meet a similar fate.![]()

JB1981 said:Agreed on all points. Well said. This will likely be scoffed at but Bungie should adopt the squad system that Resistance uses. Join a squad within your party and you have open mic. Wanna talk to people outside your squad - hit the d-pad. Much better solution, imo.
I also feel that the carbine is way too overpowered. I feel that most of the long-range weapons are a little overpowered and the sniper rifle reloads way too quickly. Rate of fire is to high for a sniper rifle.
Dr. Zoidberg said:Now that I think about it, It really comes down to how you feel about voice chat in games to begin with. I don't like to hear ANYTHING from the other players other than pertinent gameplay info. I don't want to hear about sports, the last game you played, your hot sister, your music, or any other crap. I prefer the natural sounds of battle to somebody talking in my ear about non-game crap or trash-talking or whatever.
Therefore, the PTT is beneficial to me, as it weeds out a lot of that BS. I just feel like if it were on all the time, I'd end up muting most everybody I play with or just avoiding the headset altogether unless I was playing with friends.
And THAT is why Bungie has implemented the a-hole button, and all the voice options in the game. I'd like to have the option of leaving my mic open, since I only talk to call out important activites. ("gate open!" "going for the flag" "rockets in the base!")Cerrius said:the halo community + open mic = hell

Exactly. A jackass who wants to be a jackass is going to be a jackass whether he has to push a button or not. It's not like PTT helps you combat jackassery from others, cause it's not you pushing their PTT button.GhaleonEB said:And THAT is why Bungie has implemented the a-hole button, and all the voice options in the game. I found them for the first time last night. Hit the start button at the title screen. The options are there, and you can toggle pages to customize your spartan as well.maynerd said:Where are the settings for the beta? I couldn't find them.

That's not how you kill people in Halo! With the AR, for example, a clip won't usually kill someone. You're supposed to use a grenade to soften him up before you shoot him or to finish him off with a melee!DarkAngelYuna said:Wtf is the secret to halo? I had this same problem in Halo 2. I can stand there right with my crosshairs on someone and empty clip after clip into them, even using bursts doesn't help. They rarely ever die. Most of the time they'll just turn around, stare at me like I got off the handicap buss and bitch slap me to death =[
