I seriously, seriously doubt it.
I mean we had elites in multiplayer, and they were just cosmetic as well.

Aw man. I came to this thread prepared to talk about how the only thing that Ghaleon's family would argue about is who gets to hold the door for everyone else, and how great my family's arguments would be, only to find you people talking about the game. Fools.

So, I'm not going to go over the past 5 pages. Have you guys seen the stuff on Gamepro.com?

I like the new stuff from IGN. Those screens are nice.

The screens of Shrine are ZOMG awesome. The heat haze from the desert really adds to the look. Makes me wonder how much better the beta maps would have looked with some atmospherics turned on :D

We can run the game at any speed from zero to 500% while people are playing. It's not that hard. And honestly, when Saved Films and screenshots come out from the real game, you'll see how frequently this sort of thing really does happen, especially when it's an objective game.

That screenshot looks really boring from the angle of the dude coming up the back ramp, for example. It's all a matter of perspective.
 
Damnit. Each screenshot and piece of info I see makes me want this game even more. Even though it will be the end of Summer when the game comes out, and Winter sucks.

Really glad to see the real time reflections on visors made it into MP.

I'm pretty sure that is just an effect from the explosion. The effect is a little more clearly shown in another picture in the recent batch of IGN pictures.

yup. i loved how they discussed all the things they were thinking of (or had) as equipment but ended up eliminating them because they just offered an advantage to the user. they want equipment to be a big part of the sandbox gameplay that we all love so much, where if used poorly, can be used against you, and that they can be used in unexpected ways.

i love equipment. i love halo halo's completely freeflowing, open, sandbox gameplay. bungie is genious

... I think the equipment is probably the most surprisingly interesting gameplay feature that we've added. There are just so many ways to use it, and you see people use it in surprising ways...

...We're really focusing on more interesting pieces of equipment rather than a large quantity of equipment, because we didn't want to run into the problem where there were so many pieces of equipment that you couldn't really keep track of them all. They only had one really specific use...

The power-drainer is a good one - it used to just take down shields (and not quickly, either), then we added the explosion and then we added the take-down-vehicles. Those were actually two other pieces of equipment and we just sort of combined them. You have to be able to look at equipment and know exactly what it's for. We had some equipment that would do these sort of abstract things, where your HUD would get 'better' - and nobody really knew what it was.

The other thing about equipment that makes it really hard to develop is, we don't want it to be necessarily an advantage. We want you to throw it down and then have your enemy be able to use it against you, because you weren't necessarily thinking about how you were going to use it correctly.

My guess is death indicators, looking at the bodys in the background of that pic. Problem is, there is 3 bodies in the scene, but only two markers...

like the on screen indicators, they'd likely fade (if those are death indicators). one of those dead bodies "x" may have already vanished
 
i hope they arent death indicators, or if they are, like the on screen X's, they are only for your teammates...

while whoring the shotgun i'll often try to play dead. if all deaths show up on that now, that will ruin my illusion :(

Those X's are the lights on the spiker that is sitting on the floor behind the radar you silly gooses.

oh damn! owned. they really looked like some sort of indicator! its a sigh of relief though, dont make the radar more powerful ;)

It looks like it could be two Wraiths possibly oriented on the sand dunes in such a way to look like one, but I'm doubtful on it being a single Wraith based on the scale of the object in juxtaposition to the player directly in front of it (if that is a player). Often in multiplayer, two Wraiths will face off and charge each other. One will get capped and the other is on the verge of being destroyed because of the severity of the encounter. The surviving tank usually succumbs to a few grenades or gunfire shortly thereafter.

It could also be a Phantom or pieces of one, whether operable or not during multiplayer (possibly like the Pelican on Valhalla). There's always the possibility, however unlikely, that it could be random geometry, like a structure of some sort.

I haven't been in this thread since the beta ended for fear of seeing things I don't really want to, but this article just showed how much I miss playing the BETA and how bad I WANT THIS GAME.

I really don't think I'll need to BUY any other game this year. There was something like 20+ games that I wanted to get this year, but seriously I think I'll only need 4-5. This game looks ridiculous and will probably be the best MP experience on a console this gen.


unless the inevitable Halo prequel or somethin' else comes out

Why didn't anyone create a new topic with these shots? Had I not been slightly curious about what you guys had been talking about, I'd simply have missed them :/
 
in the interview, bungie talked very briefly about DLC and how they will definitely be making content for it, but eventually all their focus will be on to their next project. i REALLY hope certain affinity will continue to crank out maps and other goodies for years to come. like the above poster said, this will undoubtedly be my multiplayer game for the forseeable future, and i want tons of support down the road. certain affinity obviously has the background and skills to do halo 3 justice

Good question. The thread was on the front page, and someone posted the link. So the conversation took off. Entirely appropriate to have a seperate thread for this stuff. I'll post one in a bit if there's not one by then.

I'm still going into E3 with expectations calibrated at zero campaign. Anything else will be a pleasant surprised. The timing of all this stuff is really weird, though, I wasn't expecting anything at all until Bungie Day; this is closer to what I expected out of E3.

yeah, bodes well for e3 content though. at the very least, i'm expecting new multiplayer footage of these maps, likely unvieling the elites and new weapons/vehicles/weapons AND a new vidoc.

but i am still hopefull for some campaign gameplay/cutscene :D
