Just watched some Die hards from the Blu Ray collection. Holy shit the first three look insane @ 1080p and in DTS master HD.


This is getting me really excited for the Predator re release!!!

day 1 on the predator, but honestly the transfers on the Die Hard 1-3 blurays is pretty poor, i own all three, and they are pretty disappointing imo

All studios need to start making such an effort with their big releases, I'm getting sick to death of the DVD version of a film getting a really cool collector's edition package with art books and all sorts, and the Blu-ray get a bare bones release. People aren't going to be too desperate to upgrade to Blu-ray if DVD versions are getting superior releases.

Oh, and I've been meaning to ask the audio guys: is there a setting on the Ps3 to enhance dialog? If not, what can I do on my receiver to raise the dialog level? I'm loving my audio, but sometimes I have to crank it up a bit to hear the dialog, then the action scenes are far too loud.

Most receivers have what's called Dynamic Range Compression or Midnight mode that does just this. I don't think the PS3 itself has that setting but if you look in your AV receiver manual you should find some information on it.

Van, you could also try going +2-3 Db on your center channel.

It's a typical problem for a lot of DVD movies and games as well. I think the problem is that movie publishers assume that a large center speaker is a more standard equipment, so they encode the center channel a bit lower. Since the dialog goes mostly through the center speaker, I solved this problem by increasing the volume of only the center speaker a bit.

Ok, expensive assed day today.
Slueth, Dogma,Appleseed Ex Machina,Hitman, and ID4 so far..
Watching Hitman at the moment and it could have been a good movie if not for the complete tool they got for the title role.
Seriously Hayden Christensen could have done a better job.
But for the important matters, PQ is quite good, vivid colors and deep crisp blacks.
Sound is well done also.
Have not had a chance to dig into the suppliments as of yet.

I can tell you that it won't because I just tried, that and the Dan in Real Life. Both came up "coupon not in system". Bah. The $5 coupon I posted worked though, and I used two in the same order. I think I'm going to do the Wal-Mart thing too.

I went and tried it out @ best buy after I asked, wanted to see No Country so bad I said fuck it, even if the coupon doesn't work i'm going to buy it.

It worked, a manager had to come over and do a "manual" discount, i guess it wasn't in their system but it worked anyhow. after reading through the last few posts though, I should've gone to wal mart.

In any case, I just got done watching No Country For Old Men and am truly kicking myself for not having seen it in the theater when I had the opportunity. What a fantastic film! I don't really think I've ever seen a chase movie quite like that before, I'm still in awe.


I think when I pick up Dan In Real Life I'll get it at wal-mart.
