Wait I just noticed...this is a blu-book? Fuuuuuu-

Am I the only one who's holding out on blu-book only blu-rays until they release a regular edition one? I want all my discs to be consistent >:(

Life looks pretty awesome, and I have worked myself two thirds of the way through the lotr. After the first one, things look much better.

Retailer Leaks October Date for Back to the Future Blu-ray

From Blu-ray.com:
One of the most eagerly-awaited catalog titles is definitely getting closer to an actual Blu-ray release. A Swedish home video retailer already has the Back to the Future Trilogy up for preorder, with a release date of October 27. There is no release information available, other than it will be a three-disc set.

I, too, share this particular brand of OCD. I remove all the cardboard sleeves from my cases.

My packaging hate is steelbooks. I don't like how they look on the shelf so I'll always go for the basic edition if there's an option, particularly when those are usually cheaper.

Pretty much any metal case, in fact. I've got the T2 Ultimate and Extreme edition DVDs and the metal slipcovers for those are in the bottom of a box somewhere.

Do you guys think there will be a Toy story box set once the third is out on Blu ray? I've been pretty tempted to pick up the first 2 but considering waiting if there may be a box set of some kind.

Man, after I replaced my lamp in a rear projection I notice this flicker crazy bad. I read that some people can notice it more than others, especially in peripheral vision. I don't remember notiving it a few years ago when the TV was brand new. Trying to figure out if my eyes are freaking out or if the TV is messing up. I spent 5 months with a bad lamp. The light would flicker bad on certain things like web browsing. Maybe I got conditioned to notice it. :lol

I know a few posters have been wanting this one for a while.

Also, The Exorcist in time for Halloween on October 5

Noooo not another fucking blu-book. I'm really glad it's coming out in blu-ray though. It's amazing how many classics we're still missing on blu-ray its 4th year in the market.

Trilogy? There are only two Indiana Jones movies. You mean the TV show or something?
Really? I didn't think any of the original three movies were dismissable. I know Crystal Skull is almost universally hated, but Raiders, Temple and Last Crusade were all great, I think.

Temple? Can't say I recall that one...

All my friends hated Temple when it came out, and when I finally saw it a few years ago, I agreed. 1 and 3 hold up well, 2 is horrible.

Just got Entourage Season 6 Blu-ray today(released today). Huge fan of the show and first time it is on Blu-ray, so kinda excited.

I'll post impressions by the end of the weekend.

It looks like the Twilight Zone season one set will definitely be worth the price. The set has 50 hours of bonus features.

For the first time ever, Rod Serling's classic groundbreaking series, exploring the fantastic and the frightening, will be available on Blu-ray...and it is LOADED with bonus features! You'll get over 50 hours of bonus features including commentaries, interviews, isolated scores, sponsor billboards, radio dramas, original pilot, alternate opening and closing narration, Rod Serling lecture, promos, including many extras not seen anywhere else.

As we predicted in our last report, Image begins the supplements on their Season 1 Blu-ray release with all of the extras found on their 2004 "Definitive Collection" release of the first season:

* Audio Commentaries by actors Earl Holliman, Martin Landau, Rod Taylor, Martin Milner, Kevin McCarthy, and CBS executive William Self.
* Vintage Audio Recollections with actors Burgess Meredith and Anne Francis, directors Douglas Heyes and Richard L. Bare, producer Buck Houghton and writer Richard Matheson.
* Rod Serling Audio Lectures from Sherwood Oaks College.
* Rod Serling Promos for "Next Week's" Show.
* Original Unaired Pilot Version of "Where is Everybody?" with Rod Serling's Network Pitch.
* Footage of the Emmy Award wins for the series.

But of course, the Blu-ray set adds more. Besides pristine HD remastering that Image bills as being "a huge step up even from The Definitive Collection, mastered from new 1080p film transfers using the original camera negatives and magnetic soundtracks", the new BD versions will also contain extensive new special features not available anywhere else. They include numerous newly-recorded commentaries and interviews, and much, much more. The The Twilight Zone - Season 1 Blu-ray set includes these EXCLUSIVE NEW BONUS FEATURES:

* Extremely rare, never-before-released unofficial Twilight Zone pilot, "The Time Element," written by Rod Serling and hosted by Desi Arnaz - presented in glorious high definition!
* 19 New Audio Commentaries, featuring The Twilight Zone Companion author Marc Scott Zicree, author and film historian Gary Gerani (Fantastic Television), author and music historian Steven C. Smith (A Heart at Fire's Center: The Life and Music of Bernard Herrmann), music historians John Morgan and William T. Stromberg, writer/producer David Simkins (Lois & Clark, Dark Angel), writer Mark Fergus (Children of Men, Iron Man), actor William Reynolds and director Ted Post.
* Interviews with actors Dana Dillaway, Suzanne Lloyd, Beverly Garland and Ron Masak.
* Tales of Tomorrow episode "What You Need."
* Vintage audio interview with Director of Photography George T. Clemens.
* 1977 syndication promos for "A Stop at Willoughby" and "The After Hours."
* 18 Radio Dramas
* 34 Isolated Music Scores featuring the legendary Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith and others!

Image Entertainment is certainly aware that they will need to go far in order to tempt fans to upgrade their collections once more, and if any release fits that bill then this is clearly the one. We're pleased and excited by how far they've gone with the bonus material, as well as with word that they went with brand-new high-def masters using the most recent remastering technology (rather than the years-old HD masters they already had in the vaults for the "Definitive" releases). A pat on the back to the studio for going as far as they have! We're looking forward to seeing this for ourselves. We're sure you are, too, so be sure to place your pre-order right away with the Amazon button link provided just below!

I usually fall into the "whichever I read/saw first" category in regards to what I feel is a better representation of material. This is the opposite, as the book is much better than the movie. Weird.

Care to elaborate?

I've been debating on reading for years now...

Yeah, I got it on Wednesday but still haven't watched it yet. Will probably watch a couple of eps tonight.

www.rif.org :D
(I assume you're just missing the "it" there)

But seriously, the book is just more "adult" than the movie is.
One of the difficulties with adapting the novel was its earnest and dark nature: an adult fairy tale in which sex and violence are presented unflinchingly. As a result of changes, the movie version has a greater element of whimsy and humor, with Gaiman's blessing given to the screenwriters.
A large part of the "whimsy" that isn't present in the book is the character played by De Niro. A lot of differences there.

I never watched The Twilight Zone...

You should watch it. If you can get past the fact that it's old, in black and white, and has cheap outdated special effects, it's one of the best tv shows ever.

Holy fucking shit

The new Predator release has been DNR'd to hell and back. Seriously, this might be the worst case of DNR I've seen yet

He looks like hes made out of wax!! Entire movie looks smudged in vaseline.

...holy shit.

Jacob's Ladder September 14. I cannot wait. It is one of my favorite movies, and I never expected it to get a Blu release. Now if only the deleted scenes could be spliced back into the movie, it would be a perfect Silent Hill film.

Am I reading this correctly...
If I wanted the full benefit of 1080p from 10 feet away, I'd want a 75" TV?
And the benefit of 1080p on a 50 inch 10 feet away isn't noticeable?
