Yeah that was pretty damned awesome, kage.

As for whether or not GAFman should be semi-serious and cheeky or just straight up goofy, I don't see any reason why he can't be both, from one strip to the next.

I kind of like the mythological idea. Comic bish looks like an apporpriately powerful deity and he's got the hammer thing going, maybe he could be GAFman's father in the way Odin is to Thor.

Here's what I think really happened that gave rise to GAF-man

He was banned from his NeoGAF gold account after he had enough of Amir0x's continuous run of mouth on how bad the 3D is on the 3DS then MAF-GAF(pre-GAFman ID) came up with a BS story about his 3DS being lost in some woods and had to "ly-down" cz of 3DS' 3D gave him "headaches". But that was his downfall cuz detective-GAF caught on and called him out. Mods came out but Bish layeth the banneth on his pasty white ass. Then he went on to become GAF-man.
 
So if we take that approach, we could make mods and admins the gods. EvilLore would be the Odin character. Is GAF-Man part of this mythological group, or a mortal member bestowed with their power?

The GAF servers are Yggdrasil.

The Forums are it's branches/worlds.

I'd say a mortal with power. I suggested bish as his father only because we have a character concept of him. Someone with more talent than I should draw up EviLore.

Genius idea: GAFman and Master Race should be brothers.

Master Race chose to devote himself entirely to PC gaming and achieved incredible power as a result but became a lonely, intolerant narcissist in the process, incapable of accepting the validity of any other medium. GAFman believes in the qualities of all platforms and fights for a forum where they can coexist.

This story sounds more like someone trying to seek vengeance instead of a story to explain why a hero fights for justice. It'd much better suit a villain that is attempting to evade a ban via alt account and proxies.
 
What's happening there?

Maybe GAF-Man was once just a member like everyone else... and he saw what Master Race had done, how he had oppressed the proletariat. The gods/admins/leaders wouldn't or couldn't help... and GAF-Man tried to stand up for the Members... and failed. And in death/exile... the mysterious Bish found him. Trained him. Brought him from the brink of the Ban/Great Beyond. And now GAF-Man returns, transformed.
 
I'd like to see the following storylines:

GAFman fights FAPman in an amazing three-part series. At the end of the last comic, it is revealed that FAPman never really wanted to hurt anyone; he was simply insecure and couldn't control his rage. He eventually converts to the "good side" in later episodes, but is declared officially neutral later on.

I would love to see a massive series where GAFman fights Master Race. In order to defeat him, Sonyman, Microboy, and Nintendgirl must put aside their differences and team up in order to stop him.

Throughout the many comics of GAFman, Gaborn should have an important role. Like someone previously mentioned, he should be constantly trying to reveal GAFman's true identity to the public. In one comic, Gaborn would find GAFman partially unmasked, making love to a female character from the NeoGAF universe. GAFman would have to permanently ban Gaborn, in order to save his true identity. It will be tragic.

2. Why is Nintendo the girl, if anything it should be the oldest most experienced of the three.
3. GAFman can't make love to a woman! What do you think he is? Smooth?! CHARMING?!?! Have you never seen the Girl-Age threads, that would go against his very character!

Character development. Unlike some members, GAF-Man could take the advice to heart.

And then make a thread about his first time sucking.

I thought Time Lords only regenerate when they are on the verge of death? I'm not a Dr. Who fan btw, just know that they come back and we're on like the 13th Doctor. Wouldn't happen very often though.
 
Have you guys already gone over GAF-Man's secret identity? Or does he not have one? Or is it one of those "Batman is the real one, Bruce Wayne is the mask" type deals?

As the first ever human being to achieve this grand score, the gods of gaming bestowed upon him great gifts! He can activate bullet time at the press of a button! He has regenerating health! He hoards his revive potions, always waiting for the right moment! He picks up EVERY collectible! And he never fails a QTE!

He is.... GAFman!

A major arc with Master Race would work nicely. I was thinking of a scene that could occur between fights where GAFman sees a couple of PS3/360 fanboys harassing a Wii gaffer, leaving him to wonder whether Master Race is right after all. Then later he sees a bunch of gaffers meeting up for a Halo trilogy replay and reaffirms his belief that console gaming need not be destroyed.
 
Let me be the 50th person to praise kage's comic. I love it

I picture Master Race like the genies in Aladdin. Phenominal cosmic power but drm that prevents him from actually killing anyone (and making peasants fall in love... with pc gaming)

GAFMan can never defeat him, only hope to trick him or calm his rage

DRM needs to be a villain. You could even make a special "team-up" edition where GAFMan and Master Race have no choice but to join forces to defeat him.

I really, really like this idea.
 
After writing that little possible origin story, it just occurred to me that we haven't fully established his superpowers.

I think he should have the ability to copy moves and abilities from other video game characters. So things like regenerating health, Cole's lightning from inFamous, Crackdown's high jump, Amaterasu's Celestial brush, etc. He'd obviously have some sort of limit. The hardest powers would take longer for him to prepare, and he could only use one power at a time.

And under just the right conditions, whenever there's a necessary dramatic climax, he could use his ultimate power.

God mode.

Oh man... Dr. M, devoted to shutting down Master Race at all costs- just as myopic and stubborn, but his lunacy comes from a completely different angle. He sets up twisted, constrictive psychological experiments that prey on Master Race's prejudices, preconceptions, and loopholes in his philosophy... making him feel so powerless as to finally, time and time again, call on GAFMan as a last resort to help him out of the bind. As soon as he's free he goes back to resenting GAFMan and his sympathy for the common peasant.

If he uses too many powers at once, he goes down to 30fps or in extreme cases, *gasp* 20.
