I'm the total opposite. Like Angry Birds but haven't really gotten bitten by the addiction bug yet with Cut the Rope.

Flick Golf has me bitten, though.

My GF and I love Angry Birds and play it all the time. We tried Cut the Rope and got bored within 20 minutes. We also like that Skull and Trucks game (or whatever its' called), but it's very easy, unfortunately.

I don't know man, I've had cut the rope for over a month when I got my iPhone and still haven't beaten it yet. It's pretty hard later on and is perfect to play in short bursts. Can't really say I'm addicted to any iPhone games, but quite a few keep me coming back for more and more.
I think I have one level left to five-star and I did it all in the first two days I had it. I do like the mechanics and feel of the game -- even though I generally hate action puzzlers -- but content-wise compared to something like Angry Birds it's quite light.

Angry birds started with only like 40 stages don't forget, it's been out a lot longer then cut the rope.

CTR is waay easier than Angry Birds ever was though. (For me not a bad thing again since I don't have much patience for action puzzlers.)

Illusia looks like a very pretty and fun Maple Story-ish singleplayer platformer RPG... Would totally get it if I wasn't so into Infinity Blade, Rage & cs.one atm.

Yeah it's come out at the wrong time, a shame really as it's either now or after the christmas rush, I want to buy it myself but I will play over gameloft's rpg first, i've always liked the gamevil rpg's and truth be told never played maple story before so i'm interested :P

Even with all the great games coming out, I've still been playing the hell out of Tilt to Live. But I'm getting frustrated cause I'm playing Frostbite mode and cannot for the life of me figure out what causes me to lose my multiplier. I had tested several theories that didn't pan out, so... anybody?

Hey folks, just got a shiny new iPhone and I was wondering if ya'll could help me out here. I'm new to this stuff. :P

What are the best free iPhone games, or even a few paid ones?

Try asking in the Toucharcade forum. They have a thread for most games so find it and post. A lot of game developers answer questions for their games at TA.

rRootage Free is among my favorites.

Look through the threads. They'll give you all the information you need and more.

Infinity Blade is REALLY fun!

I was worried about it being a cumbersome control scheme, like I found Epic Citadel to be (fingers always slipping off the hot spot on the screen)

But they really designed the game around the control limitations of the platform. Brings me back to the old hand to hand battles in The Immortal.

Thanks I'll give it go.

All 300 some odd pages? Right...

If there was an OP with recommendations, then maybe I wouldn't have posted.

You don't need to read 300 pages, just read back the past 10 pages, I'm sure this question has been asked a few times in the past couple of weeks. Hell, I asked it myself a few weeks back and got some great answers. Off the top of my head -

Cut the Rope
Angry Birds
Plants vs Zombies
FLight Control
Tilt to Live
Game Dev Story
Reckless Racing
Rage HD
Space Invaders Infinity Gene
ChuChu Rocket
PacMan CE
Tumbledrop
Wispin
Eden (minecraft clone)
Bit.Trip Beat

I've got all these games and can recommend them all heartily.

Thank you very much. Downloading a bunch of the Lite versions to test em out :)

I keep thinking to myself one of these days I'm going to go through this thread and make a list of everyone's lists of games... I'm half tempted to take all the easy way out and make a new thread for everyone to list their top 10 or 20 games and then just tally up that.

Man, I cannot do a top 10. Top 20 maybe, but not 10 lol :lol

Puzzle Quest 2 is another programming travesty. It seems like Infinite Interactive will only deal with the most incompetent porting developers.

The loading times are absurd. 5-10 seconds when walking between screens on a 3GS. It's loading a bitmap and a few sprites for chrissakes... there is absolutely no excuse for it.

Also, there are 1-2 second pauses everywhere in the game. Cast a spell, pause. Use a weapon, you better believe there's a pause (up to 3-4 seconds). Match some gems? Yeap, a pause.

Completing a quest is also ridiculous. After the quest complete dialog, it puts you back to the navigation screen and tells you that you need to go somewhere else. But can you go there? Nope. You have to sit there and wait while it displays "300 gold acquired" for about 5 seconds. Then can you go? Nope, another line of text appears telling you how much experience you received for 5 seconds. You tap the screen to try to skip past this information that it took you .2 seconds to digest, and the game actually beeps in complaint. So they register that you want to advance the text, but instead of actually doing it, they make the game yell at you for having the nerve. After looking at these prompts for 10 seconds, they finally go away, and guess what? Another 1 second freeze as the game attempts to place the sprite arrow showing where you need to go to. I guess they couldn't use that 10 seconds of making you sit around to do the intensive sprite-placement algorithm.

It's seriously one of the shoddiest apps I've used on the iPhone. And I've played some pretty shoddy games on it. Did they program this thing in Visual Basic?

Spark Plug games should be ashamed of themselves.

Argh, I bought Puzzle Quest 2 hoping FlyerJ was exaggerating about the port's problems. He was not.

The bright side is there's really no reason it can't get fixed in an update.

I just got my iPhone a week ago so I'm also in the finding the good games/apps boat.

Only have a couple so far but I can already recommend Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja and Movie Cat! :D

Here's my mini-list + you can add RAGE, LEGO Harry Potter Books 1-4, and Let's Golf 2, Infinity Blade & Dungeon Hunter 2 and probably a couple others from these last few pages.

Also, the game of LIFE just got a retina/fast app switching update, and is an excellent port, very fun and charming.

I suspect I know the answer but does it have online multiplayer?

I had 1.4 gigs free on my phone, and it still wasn't enough to download PQ2. I had to erase a bunch of stuff, once I freed up 2.4 it let me download it. I guess it needs that much space to decompress and install. Afterwords I redowloaded a bunch of stuff.

The crappy thing is, if they patch the game, I'm going to have to clear a gig off my phone because "patches" redownload the whole app again. Ugh.

I dunno, I think it's fine. Don't really see the problems you guys are seeing. The game is a little slow for sure, but I think it's the same way with other platforms.

On the one hand, they should be sued for nearly every game they release since they're not even passing off the fact that they're infringing on copyrights
Is this actual copyright infringement or common (lack of) knowledge copyright infringement?

Last I played, nope! It does support local multi-player of course, and the spinning of the wheel is really nice since you make a circular motion with your finger and it tracks the velocity very well.

Oh my god, Puzzle Quest 2 is terrible. Even on an iPhone 4.
The shitty response ends up in move mistakes too. This is unacceptable :(
I want a refund :(

Thankfully, the PQ2 bashing is overblown. It's not bad at all. :lol

I had to boot up the 360 version to make sure I wasn't missing some crucial flaw.

How are people liking Dungeon Hunter 2?

I'm curious too... I'll probably pick it up this weekend. Reviews have been pretty positive. I imagine DH2 makes the first completely obsolete as well, as it basically does everything the first did, but better.

For example, one review mentioned DH1 had 30 second load times (my god), and DH2 cut those load times down to 5 seconds while drastically improving the graphics, framerate, and adding retina support.

Seems that some of the bosses attacks leave them open for quick stabs shortly after you block them, but whether the circle pops up after a parry or dodge break seems kind of random.

Oh I was just kidding, but they should still be ashamed for being a great dev house that has to stoop like that.
