The graphics and gameplay to Eternal whatever by Gameloft are nice but I don't have faith in Gameloft making a jrpg and FF13 is the worst game to mimic to begin with.

I hope they rip Kingdom Hearts next. Would be golden.

Thankfully, the PQ2 bashing is overblown. It's not bad at all. :lol

I had to boot up the 360 version to make sure I wasn't missing some crucial flaw.

I'd like to know what version of PQ2 you're playing that has 1 second loads between area transitions like the XBLA SKU.

Argh, I bought Puzzle Quest 2 hoping FlyerJ was exaggerating about the port's problems. He was not.

Puzzle Quest 1 was bad enough as it is, but you would think they've learned and PQ2 would be better! Alas, lucky I hold off.

Stick Golf is now free for today only.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/stick-golf/id370828166?mt=8
Been free for a few days actually.

Stick Golf HD as well.

Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift just went live, and Mirror's Edge is back down to $4.99 for the weekend. I missed it last time and was glad of the drop. Can't wait to play it, it looks fantastic.

Also, to any other iDevice novices who may not know about it, AppShopper is essential. Started as a website, now it's a free app. It price watches apps and allows users to save apps to a wishlist. It'll notify you of any price drops to apps on your list via email or an alert on your device the second they hit.

The top 3 Wipeout-esque Racers are as follows:

Speed Forge Extreme (Lite)
Produced by one of NeoGaf's own, Synth Racing
retro-flavoured VectorRacing (Lite)

This.

Ah Speed Forge... <3

Tried getting some leaderboards records recently, think I quickly hit the #1 or #2 spot for the first track... Hmm... Maybe I'll just own you all when I have some time.

edit: oh and big tip: turn off motion blur, use touch controls for steering

Angry Birds Seasons just had an update. Anyone knows what is it?

Can't you tap the icon under Updates in iTunes on your device and find out? I don't have the game so I can't help you, but usually there is a list of fixes/changes which you can read before downloading.

All it says is '- Bug Fix'

Dungeon Hunter 2 seems ok from what I played, but looked like smeared poop on the retina.

I thought it has retina support.

DH2 seems like it might be a longer game, not sure how long though.

Dungeon Hunter 2 and Eternal Legacy?

Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm also wondering about them. Gameloft seems to be doing good work. They churn out clones of every popular series of games in a few months and they seem to be pretty good too. Considering that the games they are cloning will probably not come to iOS for years if ever, it's a good thing that they're bringing the variety to iOS and raising the bar.

Nice, Riese: Battle for Eleysia is free for today only. If you like card-based strategy - something I damn well love - you might dig this game. It's not particularly deep if you're into your CCGs, but it's got great production values and is quick and easy to play.

I'm a sucker for free stuff. I think I've downloaded every free game that looks half decent. I like CCGs and stuff so I'll give this a go.

It's not bad, and seems to have a decent little deck editor. All I ask for is more card variety and more buff cards. It's a great start. I really wish the iPhone had a decent CCG, or more to the point, a decent LCG (so we don't need to constantly buy packs).

I wonder if Shadow Era will turn out any good.

After spending 3-4 hours with Infinity Blade and feeling like I'll still be playing it for a long long time... This is now my absolute fav iPhone game and possibly the best thing on the platform. The combat is soooooo fucking fun and awesome, especially if you get used to parrying like crazy. And the game is just utter badassery all the way through. Love it.

It's not that slow. You were making the game sound unplayable, and it's playing fine for me. It's a bit longer load time than XBLA, but it also has superior controls. I'm playing on iPad, if that makes a difference.

Oh btw, Queen's Crown's on sale for $2.99, looks like a SNES-style RPG that might beat the Zenonia's etc and actually has a bit of a unique charming art style.

Good luck at selling a christmas game after christmas. So yeah, it's a lite version with a holiday theme, it'll stay free even after the holidays.
The Angry Birds game that started as a Halloween game is still selling and is #2 on the iTunes charts.

Sure, but it wasn't free to begin with and has a lot more content. What's the next holiday they could use to promote this game? Easter? I see your point, but having played through the game, I don't think they'd ever charge for it, there's just not that much to do.

Minsc...you've given me hope. *runs off to research this Shadow Era business*

There's a 55-page thread at toucharcade, so who knows. I watched the video trailer thing, and I don't quite get it yet, but people are saying the beta is shaping up nicely.

At least there's a deck editor, which is more than you can say for MtG: DotP on the 360/PC.

I just played their facebook version and it's pretty damn awesome. Really good interface, slick and uncomplicated phases, has just jumped to my most anticipated on the iPhone if this FB version (runs on Unity) is anything to go by.

Why the fuck is the Mirror's Edge I just bought in Korean? :lol
You can change the language. Tap the 2nd red button on the home screen, and then the first option at the top that pops up--that gets you to a language select screen.

Awesome! Thanks a lot! :D

(still very weird though :lol )

Cool thread, I've found some games that I'm dling.

Question: is it okay to pimp your own game that is on the app store in this thread (provided that I'm not spamming more than one announcement post)?

Yeah, plenty of others pimp their own games.

Please do. If it's a game that is more than just a gimmick, nothing should stop you from making an official thread, also. Good examples are Wispin and Tumbledrop.

Basically, you want to not execute an ad campaign in here. As long as you follow that rule, you should be fine.

The TOS are pretty clear about this as well. They do not exclude posting about your own game.

Excellent! Thanks.

In that case, I'll start by posting about the first game that I (of One South Design) worked on. It's called Berserker and it is an action puzzle game that we released last year. The youtube trailer can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnB3LwS_DwQ

berserkerLarge3.jpg

berserkerLarge6.jpg

The core gameplay is based off of solitaire like mechanics, but has action elements and is set in a battle field theme. The game has a few mode variations and has a built in trophy system (unfortunately, no Game Center support because the game was originally released last year) and it costs $0.99.

The game can be found on the App store from the below link:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/berserker/id346963333?mt=8

The full game description is also posted below. I hope you guys like it!

It's not match three!
Berserker is a puzzle/strategy action game that uses solitaire style gameplay to challenge players in a quick-paced battle to the death!

In this game of wits you must stand against round after round of incoming enemy armies. To complete each round you must battle and destroy a set number of enemies before the rest of the army will flee - clearing your way to the next round. Enemies are represented by SHIELDS. to destroy a SHIELD you must TOUCH one with a number consecutively higher or lower than the number currently represented on the BANNER. The numbers 13 and 1 can be played consecutively. After you destroy the required number of enemies you must clear the board, or run out of time, to progress to the next round. There are 10 rounds with a 3 minute time limit for each. The game ends when the player runs out of HEALTH or fails to destroy enough SHIELDS within the time limit.

STORY:
You are the leader of the viking clan ORN SVELD - a group of elite warriors called BERSERKERS, known for their legendary rage on the battlefield. Under a banner of truce, KING SVART called for a great celebration to declare peace between your clan and the kingdom of BRUIN. However, SVART betrayed your people, and poisoned the wine served at the feast with diocane powder. As luck would have it, you had spent the last few years building up an immunity to diocane powder. As you awaken the following day, SVART's deception has become clear. The time for revenge has come. You take to your ship and make your way to the stronghold of KING SVART.

Have fun storming the castle!

Oh cool, I didn't realize that I could also make an official thread. We're a very small dev team and since there are so many small devs on the App store, I didn't know if it would be considered bad form to make your own thread, since that would imply that there could be a ton of official threads spamming the board.

I recently saw an iPhone dev create an official topic for his game and had it locked by EviLore.

As in the dev requested it to be locked, or EvilLore did it by his own judgement?
