That's great to hear. How is the framerate?
So far so good. I'm about to get another character so maybe I'll notice a few hiccups then. I'm playing this on a 3GS and beyond the initial loading, it plays very smooth. Very happy with the port so far other than the previously mentioned sound loop lag.

I hope this isn't too spamtastic, but I just released my first iPhone app/game called STIFF 'EM!

It's a silly little tip calculating game, where the tip percentage is determined Wheel of Fortune style. I've got a few promo codes that I can give out, 'cause I know how much GAF loves tipping. PM me if you're interested.

You can check the game out here

lol, nice. That's a pretty clever concept, honestly.

Any chance you could add a wheel for credit card roulette? My friends and I usually make the waitress pick a credit card to pay for dinners and that seems so douchey to me.

An amount higher than 30% would be nice to screw whoever pays the bill too!

Robokill's officially the most fun dual stick shooter on the iPhone, 60 fps, retina support, it's Smash TV with a bit less crazy but a ton more items, rooms and collecting, hope they bring the sequel over too if this doesn't already contain it!

Hmm, I've never heard of credit card roulette before, I'll definitely look into it. It seems like it could be a fun addition. One of the things I want to do in a future update is have different wheels for different levels of service, ranging from "Great" to "Hitler". Hitler would have all "stiff em" wedges except for one, while Great would have higher tip percentages.

So what do you guys think of Aralon? I've been thinking of picking it up but also hoping it's improved over Ravensword.

I'm so happy I bought a 64 GB 4G iTouch :D I already got Tetris, The Sims 3, Assassin's Creed, Wispin, Piyo Blocks 2 and Queen's Crown thanks to this thread. I really like them all but Queen's Crown got me completely hooked. 1 hour and a half and I'm level 14 :lol It's a good Zelda clone, cool graphics and so charming. The only thing I didn't like too much was the music but aside from that, it is awesome! I'm considering getting Spiderman now :D

Played maybe an hour or less of Secret of Mana. Here are my impressions:

1) On screen directional control is still not fun. Not a fan of it. I suppose that's not necessarily SoM's fault, because it's horrible in pretty much every other game I've played that has it.

2) This game has a bloody frustrating intro. Fighting the first boss and getting knocked unconscious every 5 seconds is incredibly annoying. As I recall from what I played of the VC version, this frustration continues. It doesn't help that the controls are less precise now.

3) Still an A-Mazing soundtrack. So lovely. Unfortunately this version has some bad loops, or lack thereof. The music just fades out and starts over. Strange...

4) Forgot how weird the dialog in this game is. The main character says "Say What?" pretty early on. Don't play this game for the story either. It's not very interesting.

Overall it seems like a competent port if you can get over the touch controls. I don't have an insatiable love for this game, but that has nothing to do with this version. It's portable, nice looking, and has good music. It's also probably one of the better RPG's on the platform, though why they released this instead of a turn-based RPG first I have no idea. If you like Secret of Mana it's probably worth the $9. I'm gonna try to stick with the game till the end because I gave up on the Wii.

Spiderman for a buck was an instabuy, Robokill looks good but that'll have to wait till I top up my iTunes account

iOS game offers have been relentless recently, I'll happily pay but how the hell am I going to find time to clear my 50-game iOS backlog? And this on top of my console backlog!

I remember playing SoM when I was young on the SNES :lol

It's possible to defeat the first boss without dieing but I agree it's annoying so early in the game. I'm a bit worried about the controls though. Still will probably pick this up when I get my iPad for christmas :D

The controls work, but clearly there is a sacrifice when replacing a d-pad with the smudgy feel of a touch screen. If you stick to it I'd bet it will become second nature though. Plus, the game doesn't require enormous amounts of finesse, though more than a turn based RPG for sure, SQUARE...

Your post seems unfairly negative towards the game. I don't agree about the on screen controls. They are a lot better than other games with the same setup because they allow a lot of leeway for error - they're almost like the controls in Chaos Rings. The only thing I don't like about the controls is you can't run diagonally. Hard to explain and I haven't played the original in a while to compare, but it just makes it feel like you have less control over your character than you should.

I mentioned the game being quite a bit harder than I remember - the enemies can kill you easily by timing their attacks for right when you get up; I already died this way when facing a higher level enemy. I expect that to get better when I get the other characters.

Vastly improved. Ravensword is basically a technology demo when compared to Avalon.

Could you run diagonally in the original? I can't remember.

Impressions seem on par from what I've read, control being the big issue with the port. I've played a lot of Zenonia and someone on itouch arcade mentioned that if you can control with that game, you should be fine. I'll have to think about it, I need something new to play at school after being Shining Force 2 times in class. :lol

Yeah its been a while so I can't remember either :lol

Man I loved that game when I was a kid. It was addicting for some reason and I remember barely anything of the story. (Was there even a notable story?).

I don't think I was being unfair. These were just first impressions, and that's the impression I got. I may change a bit as I play more.

Great game, when I got the Lite version on the iPhone because of your recommendation, I instantly remembered it, and then instantly bought it :p.

Picked up Monkey Island games... 2bucks! w00!. Now, how could I access the Classic version?
If I remember rightly, you put two fingers on the screen and swipe up or down to switch between the versions. Slick as fuck.

ooh perfect cell looks intriguing. damn the app store to hell! i've already burned through $60 in itunes gift cards. =\

Hahaha, Pocket Gods for iPad just dropped from $5 down to $1, so fucking glad I held out on that one.

Also, if anyone doesn't have it, Robot Unicorn Attack just dropped from $2 to $1.

Perfect Cell looks pretty cool.

Age of Zombies is $0.99/£0.59 if anyone's interested. Might pick it up.

Screw you app store. You and your great prices!

prefect cell is out? December seems to be a smorgasbord of iOS releases. I have to wait until I go home to download it. I think I might buy another itunes card along the way.

Does anyone know of a good Steam app? I tried Steame but it sucks ass, you have to login every time you download the app and even then, it just freezes when it tries to load up my games list :( I've filed a complaint and hope to get my money back, but I still want a Steam client.

Thought I would try help others save money.

Games I don't recommend:

Finger Balance - Boring, no retina support and no game center
Predators - Unbelievably boring and repetitive
BIA2/Most games like this - Overall fairly boring.
Minigore/Most dual stick shooters - Repetitive if you're not into dual stick shooters or if you already have one
Spider - I should like it and the concept/supposed story behind it is cool but I just find it boring :lol
Meow Meow Super Happy Fight - It's a cool game but if you're into achievements, steer clear. They are terrible. Or maybe I just suck at getting them
Mega Worm - I personally find it boring although others swear by it
Pro Zombie Soccer - See above
Plunderland - The sexy icon and art style swayed me but the game is average

All my opinions but there you have it.

Maybe 'My Steam'? I haven't used it, but I know someone who does. You can try the free version and see if you like it.

Yea, I originally found Robokill highly recommended from a thread in the OT on GAF for "best flash games" or something, that very link, thanks for sharing it for everyone else.

It's a very meaty demo, I think I played it for over 2 hours, and never bought it, it was definitely more than $1 though, so I feel it's a steal at 99 cents on sale now!

It can be challenging at times too, with decent AI, and it's flashy enough with bullets flying fast at 60fps and particle effects. Check out the free flash version above from Psy-Phi's link if you haven't, you're all but guaranteed to get hooked.

Robokill 2 is a bit better I think (but essentially more of the same), it adds blood and more enemies and power ups, so hopefully that comes over eventually as well.

One final sell, it's not your typical dual stick shooter, there's a decent bit of strategy involved. Lots of places you can die instantly (fall off the edge), traps, etc. It plays more like a Zelda dungeon, with keys and all.

Don't like the cheap deaths in Robokill, but besides that, it's a fun top-down twin stick shooter.
I bought all the Ghost Trick chapters as the sale was supposed to finish today, so I'm gonna try and play that soon.

I still can't play Chu Chu Rocket online. No matter what I try, whether it's Online Quick Play, Online Lobby, Hosting, Joining, toggling all the slots to Human, looking for one player as opposed to 3 others........it just sits looking for players. This morning I clicked the Quick Play option as soon as I woke up, then showered, dressed, shaved and brushed only to come back to it still searching.

Is it that nobody is playing this at all? That seems unlikely to me. I REALLY want to play this game online and would be addicted if I could easily jump right into a match.

It works fine.

Probably your ports or something.

Spider-man rocks! Also, Aqua Panic is on sale too for $0,99, looks wonderful but haven't tried it yet.

edit: hmm, tried it out, not my thing, seems pretty good but I always feel like especially these types of games need to be super-smooth and polished, it didn't immediately click with me

I suspected as much so I've tried it at my home, my mother-in-laws home, and at work. It behaves the same at all 3 places.

Can you really select the Quick Play option and jump right into a game? Let me know because it will save me quite a bit of headache troubleshooting.

EDIT: I think it might be a problem with my Game Center because Real Racing does the same thing. Just hangs forever "Finding Players".

I am doubtful that it’s a firewall/ports issue since this happens on three separate networks and some quick Google searches indicate to me the average person doesn’t have these problems.

:lol you poor soul.

you have a good point. for the amount I've spent, i've probably gotten some of the better gaming experiences i've had in a while. a lot of letdowns and backlog w/ my $60 console games. can't say i always get my money's worth either. at least i'm finishing most of these bite sized games and having fun. perfect for someone like me who has a short attention span and limited gaming time these days AKA major responsibilities.

How does Spiderman for the iPhone looks on an iPad? The iPad version still at $6.99 but if the iPhone version looks good on the iPad, I would rather get it at $0.99

Edit : I downloaded the demo for the iPhone and it looks like crap on the iPad :( Game looks so good on the iPhone 4 display

NFS Hot Pursuit just got updated with felon campaign. That's 24 new missions.

EDIT: Oops. Sorry, Randomlyrossy.

Oh nice I didn't even know this was going to happen! Almost done with the cop missions. Great 99 cent purchase! This won't overwrite my cop save file?

It's a different career, if you back up to the main menu and go to career you can choose between the two and you level them seperately.

Right O. I never understood how itouch handles game save files since for every update you have to download the entire game again. Is there going to be a point where Apple fixes this so you only have to download the update?

Oh, yeah, that Game Center matchup thing (auto-match it's called I think) that a lot of games use doesn't work for me either :/.

(or well, maybe I never waited long enough, in any case it takes a long long time)

edit: After thinking over it, Perfect Cell doesn't seem worth the money.

Why do you think that? I ask because I’m thinking of pulling the trigger and getting it myself.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm trying to figure out if it's just abysmally slow to find other players or if somethings wrong on my end.

Would someone who has either Real Racing or ChuChu Rocket be willing to be my Game Center friend in order to help me troubleshoot my issue? I would really appreciate it.
