Ewww, no man this game controls like ass. Tiny Wings is 100% better imo. It says on the page that it's been in development for a year, if so I feel sorry for the dev getting pipped to the post by the surprise hit of the year.

Are you playing on iPhone or iPad? I could see this game being tougher on the iPhone since everything is smaller than Tiny Wings. I think it controls great on the iPad.

All Popcap iOS games (iPad/Phone) will be on sale this weekend (Sat/Sun) with proceeds going to Japan.

iPhone and iPad games will cost $0.99 and $1.99 respectively. Sale begins Saturday, March 19 at 12:01AM PT and ends at midnight PT on Sunday, March 20, PopCap's . Bejeweled, Bookworm, Chuzzle, Peggle and Plants vs. Zombies are all mentioned in the press release.

"We recently opened an office in Tokyo, and while our Japan-based employees are safe and uninjured, we understand countless others in Japan need food, shelter, and medical attention," said Ellen Marett, Senior Director of Workforce Culture at PopCap. "Given that Plants vs. Zombies reached #1 on the iPhone and iPad sales charts in Japan, it seemed like the most appropriate game to feature in this fundraising campaign."

iPone. I played it for 5 minutes but it was a mess IMO. Tiny Wings is beautiful and has a very clean visual design. This was all over the place and the worst thing was that your penguin dude would go off the screen. The 3D was nice though.

Question regarding Infinity Blade:

Is there something I missing in regards to money accruement? I have the second to last item in each category, and they're so astronomically expensive that I can't imagine how long it'll take to purchase all of it.

I hate to give credit to something that's such a blatant ripoff, but Pilot Winds is superior to Tiny Wings in every single way except art/style. It's universal for 99c, too. I found it so much better and deeper than Tiny Wings, I've deleted the latter from my iPad because I can't imagine why I'd play it anymore.

THANK YOU for this post. I've been loving Tiny Wings a little TOO much. After finishing all the objectives and topping 230k(zethca on OF), I've been itching for a similar experience and this is perfect. The system isn't as polished and simple as TW but I'm stil having a ton of fun with it. TW could actually benefit from a few things in Pilot Winds. (The bounce is really nice as a last resort but would probably make 100% perfect runs too easy in TW.)

Awesome, except I just bought PVZ HD yesterday :(, seems my app purchasing curse follows me to the iPad. Hope they donate all proceeds from this week too, but I know they won't. Don't really understand this discounting of games for donations, keep it at the standard price, its.much easier to pay $7 if you know its going to a good cause. But a pop cap sale is great news for all who don't have their games yet.

Apparently this came out last week, I just saw Planet Work by Capcom in the app store. It's a pretty and simple action game, you have a vacuum and walk around sucking up enemies and garbage to restore color. One finger moves anywhere, a tap is stationary and two fingers is power move.

It's fun and the first few levels are free. Worth trying, it's cute and fun! Seems like Get Outta My Galaxy will stand it up though.

Finally purchased the full version of this last night, and I've been greatly enjoying it more than I thought I would. The gameplay remains largely the same throughout, but trying to figure out the fastest path through each stage for a perfect rank is more fun and satisfying than I expected.
My main complaint is that its pretty short and I don't see myself going back to it much after I complete everything. I hope Capcom lets this team make more small games though, the art and music in particular are extremely charming.

The art is fancy Don Bluth hand-drawns stuff. Dragon's Lair, etc. It's a good game, though slightly unpolished. Performance sometimes an issue.

is anyone else having weird menu issues on iphone4 with tapper? basically the menu is in the lower right of the screen, with the two bartenders oversized on the left and right.

it is correct once you get into the game, but the performance issues kinda ruin the wonderful art. also tips are hard to see - and it takes forever to run down the bar so i don't risk it normally.

Hey Guys -

I am a big reddit user and notice today that all the iPhone Game and Mobile Game Subreddits were dead and/or terrible. So I made a new one:

http://www.reddit.com/r/MobileGames/

If you're a Reddit user, PLEASE hit the "+frontpage" button on the right, and if you come across stuff on the web, just take a sec to submit a link to this Subreddit. I submitted 10 links to it in 7 minutes... it's super fast.

Reddit really needs a strong mobile games Subreddit. So yeah... help it grow. Upvote, submit, etc. If anyone is responsible and wants to be a Mod, I'm looking for a few more.

You've inspired me to pick up the whole thing but first I have to 3 star stage 2-1 which has been a bit of a challenge.

It definitely does have a solid presentation. Some kind of oldschool ps1 vibe in a good way. I think it's a nice change of pace to have such eye candy with a fun hook, simple but not boring. The boss battle was nice.

Just saw Burn The Rope HD was released today. Worth $5?

Also, any impressions on Chicken Balls? Looks like it has Pachinko/Peggle elements which is awesome.

I didn't think the first Burn The Rope was all that fun, honestly.

another 6K posts to go, if the 20K size of the first is any indication.

It would be nice to use OT3 as an excuse to create something of a "Best games on the platform," or GAF favorites in the OP.

Yea, it seems to be a common question, what should I buy? There's plenty of time, someone would have ~2-3 months to get it together I think, before we get to OT3.

pilot winds actually looks and plays pretty nice on the ipad 2. i do agree tiny birds is the better game but since there isn't an ipad/universal version i'm actually enjoying it.

I could give a hand with imagery for it.

If it's really accruing that slow by the end then I'd tend to point the finger at the ability to purchase game money as the cause.

Has anyone tried 4 Elements HD yet?

that neogaf ios google doc was pretty effective while it lasted. not sure why that project failed...
As memory serves there were some real garbage apps getting into the list (and possibly app spamming?). Plus it really isn't that useful without pictures etc.

There's also the issue that cheapskate-GAF avoids paying for apps as much as possible and as a result any random list will tend to reflect the typically crippled standards brought by that attitude.

The boss battle was nice.
Unfortunately its the same boss fight throughout with added attacks and more health.
That being said the instances in world 4 where you have to make use of the environment to get the quickest time, and world 5 where he gets some notably different attacks are pretty nice.

At this point I've done everything in the game except for playing it for 3 hours, and beating the last boss without getting hurt to get the last piece of concept art. Definitely worth a dollar.

FINALLY cracked 175,000 and moved onto nest 28!

How about we each start posting 10 games that we recommend and we'll compile a list?

As long as every one of the games that I list are entered into the final list and universally praised by everyone, I'll be willing to offer my 10 suggestions.

I want a game for iPad that I don't have to pay 100% attention to while I play (so I can still watch TV and such.) So something turn based or slow paced would do.

I love sims, but 95% of them these days are that timer shit. I don't want schedule my life around a game, thanks.

Any recommendations?

Puzzle Quest 2, Picross HD, LogiGrid, and Helsing's Fire are all games you can play at your own pace.

That's a damn impressive Tiny Wings score. I'm on the 18x multiplier, but I'm now addicted to getting objectives when I play it, which means my HS suffers.

scratch that. Just got the 20x multiplier and a 96177 hs.

DO NOT BUY Puzzle Quest 2 on the iPhone. The loading times are absolutely ridiculous, even on an iPhone 4. It can take up to 30 seconds to transition from one screen to the next. And sometimes you have to traverse across 5 screens to get to the next objective.

I've heard varying reports about the iPad version, so buy that one at your own risk.

I play on Ipad and it seems fine to me. It's slower than the PC version which I also own but not that big a deal. It would be nice if it wouldn't stutter sometimes but the actual gameplay isn't affected.

I don't like it on the iphone at all because the gems are too small.

Thanks! Speaking of Tiny Wings, from the developer's twitter:

tiny wings update: mainly bugfixes, game center, more leaderboards, stats page, a new nest and other tiny features.

The iPad version is a little sluggish, but it works.
