This game is playable single player as well correct? Also can you do some kind of multiplayer where you pass the iphone/ipod touch back and forth?

Yes, there is single player and multiplayer is currently pass back and forth (of course, this is changing.)

The two I recommended earlier are actually really, really good. Mahjong Artifacts and Mahjong Artifacts 2, both support retina display (double checked this time!), and have a lot of twists to the gameplay in the campaign mode.

They have an auto-zoom feature too, which makes seeing the tiles really useful, as the game automatically zooms in so you have the playing area taking up the whole screen... so as you make matches it'll zoom in closer to fill the screen as the tiles are removed... nice touch.

Ah yes, forgot about those. I'll give them a shot. Thanks!

Alright Minsc, before I pulled the trigger on these, I downloaded the Lite versions and did indeed enjoy them. However, they do not appear to be fully Retina display enhanced. Do you mind double-checking your full versions for me (including menus and stuff)? I'll probably end up buying them anyways, because holding out for Retina display for everything is a losing battle, but I'm just curious. Thanks.

The gameplay is, but the menus aren't. It's not a big deal, since the game part - tiles & background, is the part you really care to be retina supported, so you can zoom out and still see the artwork on the tiles very clearly. Perhaps they didn't create the menus in HD, and don't want to put in the effort to redo them. Their opening logo is retina, then low-res menus, then back to high-res gameplay. You only spend a few seconds in the menus for the most part, so it's not that bad! :)

Edit: I guess if you're very particular, the tiny part of the UI that's visible during the game isn't re-done either. And if you zoom in really close to the tiles, to the point it isn't practical to play the game, the artwork on the tiles looks a bit pixelated as well. Seems like they just literally added retina support to the engine, so the zoomed out stuff looks really sharp, but they didn't update anything else to go along... oh well. Still a fun spin on Mahjong.

just noticed that madden 11 HD (ipad only) is 59p on the UK store and straight at the top of the charts - i checked appshopper, but i don't think this applies globally. i guess it's payback for pro evo iphone being way more expensive in europe. :lol

anyway, picked it up, we'll see how this goes!

I've never played though the first monkey island so I picked it up when it was cheap, but it's almost unplayable. Controls suck compared to what they did with 2, so I'm just going to play 2. Leave 1 to another platform.

I hope they patch MI1 with retina and the MI2 controls. I really do hope.

Isn't there any way to watch replays in Real Racing?

Anyone know this? I may come off as an idiot for overseeing something very obvious, but I was under the impression that replays was sort of a selling point, with youtube uploading and everything and I just can't find any place where I can choose to watch it.

How will it do that?

The developers of Neuroshima Hex posted this regarding going universal:

Lately we checked many details about Game Center and in app purchases and we did find out those services are dedicated for single application only. What does it mean? It means, that someone who bought Neuroshima Hex for iPhone will not be able to use Game Center’s matchmaking to play with someone else with Neuroshima HD. It means someone who scored achievements on his or her iPhone won’t be able to continue scoring another achievements on the iPad version. Someone who bought expansions on iPhone, will need to re-buy those extensions for the iPad version once again. It’s unacceptable for you and it is absolutely unacceptable for us!

Meaning that Game Center does not allow for any interconnectivity between iPhone and iPad versions, if they are in fact two seperate applications.

I have VERY little interest in Madden games, but I really like Madden 11 on iPhone. The new Gameflow mechanic or whatever makes it so much more fun to pick up and play. Everything that came before it just felt way too convoluted.

Works great here. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it? I'm expecting an update at some point, to fix some issues people are having and hopefully spice up the interface a bit.

So DSL connection that works great for everything but = netflix on ipod doesn't work

Nexus One wifi hotspot on my 3G connection at home where I get so-so signal, = netflix on ipod works.

alrighty then. :\

So before I was saying how SEGA should totally port their awesome game, Typing of the Dead to the iPhone and call it Texting of the Dead, but it looks like someone beat them to the punch!

A shameless rip-off for sure, Texting of the Bread, is an app where you need to text accurately and quickly to fight off a horde of gingerbread man. I'd probably buy this if it supported the vertical keyboard mode, which it doesn't. It still sounds pretty fun from the impressions, if you're a horizontal typer. Hopefully this spawns a genre of text-to-survive games! And one or two of them support the portrait mode.

I REALLY wish these games would stop calling themselves mahjong. It makes a real pain in the ass when trying to find an actual mahjong game in the appstore.

Speaking of which, anyone know any good mahjong games? Preferably HK rules? I've got Mahjong Police which is pretty good, but it's Japanese rules.

Mmm, ISUD (it shoots you dodge), is soooo good.
Very rRootage-like, admittedly, but it's beautiful, and some of the patterns are insane.

Isn't one called Mahjong, and the other Shanghai? I think they've been misnamed for many many years now, unfortunately.

I want to like PES 2010, I really do. If Konami can make things a tad more responsive for PES 2011 then it could really be a nice game of touch screen footy.

Stardunk is great. I went ahead and paid the $1.99 to show some support to the devs.

I'm still waiting for a great golf game. Let's Golf 2 just isn't that fun and Tiger Woods is extremely outdated.

The game isn't a shameless ripoff, it was developed by ScrewAttack.com, and as stated by them, an homage to the site's owner, Stuttering Craig, favorite game. It's an absolutely great game and really decently priced, I highly recommend it to anyone that has a general interest in it.

Flick Kick Football update is live. Fixes an OpenFeint initialisation issue for anyone that was a getting a white screen on load.

Gamecenter, Gamecenter, Gamecenter...

:)

It's coming, but I think because FKF is a universal app we have to wait for GameCenter to be rolled out for iPad first.

Edit: there is talk of GC multiplayer too :)

So November? Multiplayer would be a great addition, also.

Again, fun fun game.

We have an iPad game in dev about to be announced (maybe this week), and are finishing off Android ports of Flick Kick Rugby and Flick Kick Football. Not sure where FKF GC integration and multiplayer sits, but it is on the list. That list is getting pretty big but we want to keep supporting FKF as a priority, so chances are it will get another update before the end of November at the latest.

So, anyone else checked out Naughty Bear for iPhone? It's got the same basic concept as the console version, but plays more like Pac-Man. Only problem is that it's a little on the short side.

Is FKFG still supported?

I loved the PSP Minis version and will definitely double dip

The game will include the full five worlds of the story mode as well as a Survival mode featuring online high scores, and is set to be an improvement over the PSP version in a number of ways. It will contain better graphics, a reworked user interface, and dual-stick touch screen controls for controlling Barry

Yea, be it as it may, nothing can live up to the awesomeness of typing of the dead. The entire game probably doesn't touch a finger on Typing of the Dead's training mode, let alone any of the rest of the game or challenges.

Nice to see he's played and a fan of the original, but the video I saw of the game looked pretty sad compared to Typing of the Dead. Not saying it isn't a ton of fun, but Typing of the Dead is full to the brim of content, like I said, there's probably more game in the tutorial modes for TotD than the entire TotB game.

Yeah, I'm playing it inbetween the two Cave-shooters, when I want a quicker session (because when I start with Espgaluda I always feel like I have to finish it). Somehow the controls don't feel quite as hyper-precise as the Cave ones, although I'm not sure if that's an illusion because they should just be following the finger. Maybe it's just the visual representation that makes Esp and DDP feel like they respond 'quicker'. Still ISUD is really good, I love it just being about bosses vomiting bulllets. Suddenly the iOS feels tailor-made for bullet hell.

QFT

And I need to check out Mahjong Police. Is it worth the $5? (I play by Japanese rules)

Any football games worth a recommendation? Ive heard good things about X2

You might want to hold off on a soccer game purchase at the moment as FIFA 11 and PES 2011 are set to release very soon. FIFA 11 might actually come out later this week and PES 2011 is coming out in October.

After that, you'll probably have a better idea as to what you should go after.

I've been getting ~60K by flicking. I just don't get the other method, but I'm sure I'm not doing it correctly.

(Regarding StarDunk)

60K by flicking? Wow. What you need to do is: Push down on the screen, move the ark with your finger, then release to shoot.

My best is about 110,000 so far, the game is mad addictive!

Previews of fifa 11 look badass, them graphics son :O

little aside, is there a consensus on the best streaming app for streaming videos from pc to the iphone/ipod touch? There seems to be alot on the app store which require you download their special client for the pc, no idea which one is the best though :o

AirVideo. Never had any issues with it at all and it has a really nice iPhone interface.

Did AirVideo have a random play feature? I couldn't tell, I might check it out sometime if it does.

SteamToMe has options to merge sub folders in to the root (as well as the random play), does air video do that?

Just had a look no Random play. No merge sub folders either.
