Final Fantasy Tactics update!

Looks to be Spring 2011, earliest now.

Highlights:

Dynamic (pinch?) zooming supported.
Larger UI menus for easier touch screen use
Scroll/Rotate screen by touch

The whole touch interface to me, sounds like it could work really well in navigating around the map. It's obviously way faster to tap a random square than it is to hit the left and up d-pad a few dozen times.

This is like 90% of the reason I scan this thread semi-regularly these days, so thanks for posting this update. I am glad they're taking their time to improve it.

We updated today (v1.0.2) with great control improvements and facebook/twitter score-sharing. Enjoy (and always feel free to share or send feedback)!

you should make it so first 5 people to pm you gets the codes. that eliminates any chance of any lurkers getting it.

How long did it take to get approved?

We've had a new game submitted in Nov and "In review" since Dec 3, and an update for an older game submitted 1 Dec "Waiting for Review". Dammit Apple, get your approve on!

Sim City Deluxe HD for iPad is out today and there was an update for Carcassonne making it a universal app, finally.

I've been playing Sim City for the iPad for about an hour. It's quite good. Nice controls and menus. The larger screen does the game wonders. Still, if you've played it before then there's nothing really new, just good old Sim City.

how much is it? I'm curious if I should wait for the inevitable EA 99% off sale...

is it significantly easier to play than the iphone version scaled up?

It's easier to place stuff down and have a better idea of what is around. There is a little bit of lag in the game still, it's not super super smooth, but it's certainly a leg up from the iphone and still enjoyable.

The price is AU$8.99, not sure what that is elsewhere.

*edit* Here's two pics of my city:

Finally they released CARCASSONE on iPad! FUCK YEAH :D 7,99 Euro.
But still no gamecenter support :(
They've said for a while now next update. Of course, we'll see what that is. I've played over 250 games online, have beaten all the AI a million times, etc. so I fully expect to unlock every achievement immediately presuming they are being logged :lol

They aren't in Infinity Blade for example - and that had Game Center support from the beginning - so you may be in for a nasty surprise :(

Yeah I know I don't really care that much thankfully.

The Lego Harry Potter is single player only, isn't it?

Ugh. Should have picked up Carcassonne when it was $4.99 :( I'm hesitant at the $9.99 price point, now.

If you like the game and hook up with GAF people, it's all worth it.

Carcassonne is great. I might not be the biggest fan of the board game, but the iOS version with it's asynchronious turn based multiplayer fits this type of game perfectly.

Speaking of board games ... I'd love to see an iOS version of Dominion.

Gonna give this a try. Thanks!

Bombardiers Guild is FREE for a limited time:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bombardiers-guild/id339236462?mt=8

Bombardiers Guild is:
- a steampunk styled gravity wars / scorched earth / iShoot type game
- perfect for playing in short 3 minute bursts (yet with an engaging story!)
- perfect for playing with one hand :lol
- easy enough that anybody can get started (now even easier!)
- challenging enough to test everybody's skill (still as hard at the end!)
- some say it's one of the best two player games on the app store :D

Get it now while it's free!

I picked up X-Plane HDEF 4G earlier. It caught my eye as it's iPhone 4 only but it was ridiculously priced (£12-£15?) but it's on sale at the moment for £5.99. As I have no use for 11 Mars Bars, I grabbed it. It's pretty cool, I think. I'm not really big on flight sims so I have nothing to compare it to but it has a ridiculously large and varied selection of planes (Jet/Prop, Commercial/Fighters/Bombers/Gliders), helicopters & the space shuttle.

There are tons of controls to play with, lots of sexual innuendo (Rudder, flaps, trim), tons of locations to fly about in, seems to be plenty of control over time & weather, that kinda thing. I can't offer any recommendation because I've only spent ten minutes flying around and crashing into the ground but it does seem like a very comprehensive, very polished flight sim.

Astro, I swear one of these days I'll learn Carc and actually play a game with you, lol.

I've reached a standstill with games.

I have so many (mainly from sales) that I hardly play and so recently have bought hardly anything.

Being picky now is the only way to prevent myself from being completely overrun. If a game doesn't have retina/game center support, the chances of me buying it go down a lot.

Just thought I'd share :lol

if you haven't nabbed this game yet, eBoy FixPix a pixel-art tilt puzzle game is now only 99 cents and there's a free edition that comes with 25 puzzles. definitely worth checking out if you're into this kind of thing. i personally love this game. it's both a universal app and supports retina display. :D

full version - 99cents (itunes link)

Believe it or not, this update somehow got approved in less than 24 hours! Have no idea how that happened.. Last update took over 8 days. The whole process seems completely random.

Hope your stuff gets approved soon.. The App Store waiting game sucks :(

Yeah, I finished all the payed puzzles :D

They make for great wallpapers!

Edit: Just reached the end of the first campaign in Chaos Rings.

This was a nice ending lol, wasn't expecting it. Now to end the rest of the campaigns!

Old Man Stauf built a house, and filled it with his toys
Six guests were invited one night, their screams the only noise
Blood inside the library, blood right up the hall
Dripping down the attic stairs, hey guests, try not to fall
Nobody came out that night, not one was ever seen
But Old Man Stauf is waiting there, crazy, sick, AND MEAN!

It goes down tonight!

Has been fairly predictable for us all year up until the holiday chaos.

Have seen some other people getting updates and apps approved on dev forums in the last couple of days, so fingers crossed we get approved for the new game in at least the next couple of days.

I want this too, just because Dominion is fun, but just like RFTG and lots of other fun games there are too many damn turns to make it work as an async I think, especially when you bring in some of the interactive cards where other players have to make decisions. I did find out about an unofficial Android implementation though, and it's pretty fun, so yes I would support it.

I've yet to see a Game Center enabled game give you achievements in retrospect. Do such games exist?

Chaos Rings story is one of the best I experienced with a JRPG in quite some time. I only wish the gameplay had more depth.

You ran through all 4 sets already? Took me like 40 hours to get 108%, that was fast! I agree, the story gets more interesting as it unfolds, it surprised me a bit. The gameplay could have used some work, but it was generally an enjoyable game for me.

Nah, I'm still on the second scenario, but I really like the story already. :p

Hadn't heard of it before...holy crap @ $16. Has it gone on sale at all since release? Do SE games ever go on sale?

It's been on sale a few times, sometimes for 50% off, but never for like 99 cents or anything. Square stuff is generally more expensive, they have a TD game for like $7, and FFI/II for too much as well.

SE usually places their past games on sale for the release of new games. My guess is you will see a sale when Secret of Mana is released.

While FFI/II are expensive relative to some awesomely new and creative titles on iOS, I think they are worth it (If you want to play those games), they are pretty much identical to the PSP offerings, which are more expensive, limited to the PSP/UMD, and don't offer multiple localizations. One of the great things is SE does international releases of their (well most) iOS software, so to those who prefer to play a game in a different language, are free to do so without a big fuss.

Does Game Center only work when you are online? I finished Cut the Rope Xmas holiday freebie, and I unlocked all the achievements except for one. When I checked Game Center they didn't register. I then took my touch online and started the game again but none of my achievements shown up. Pretty lame if the chieves don't store when you are offline and register when you go online.

I hope Apple is committed to improving it.

pretty sure i've gotten every achievement in flight control HD and only like 2 have registered

Silly question:

I remember there been some iPhone game, release earlier this year, but I never played it, where the main focus of the game game was lights - or the movements of lights. You had to move the light (or boxes, or something), to make shadows (I think), or to make different colored lights to win. The game was viewed top down if I remember right.

I never played the game, and have no friends that played it, and the only place I heard it talked about in on Podcasts. I believe I checked the App Store once, and saw images of it, but did not buy, and that is where I think all the above random info got into my head.

I searched Google for "iPhone Light Game," checked the current Top 50 on the charts, and even asked a few friends, but no one knows what I mean.

Does anyone here know what game I am talking about?

That sounds like it could be a heavily distorted memory of Auditorium.
