And hooray for Dodonpachi's Gamecenter update!
How do I unlock the new ship? I'm on ipad 3g right now and I'd rather not check on youtube.
(Only for iPhone mode) On the ship select screen go:
A* -> B -> C ->
A -> B -> C ->
B -> C -> A ->
B -> C -> A ->
C -> A -> B ->
C -> A -> B ->

*I don't think you have to tap A first since it's selected by default to begin with, so tapping it will just make the selection.

How does a shitty game fill the gap for an absent good game?
It doesn't (damn you iTrials, damn you to hell).

And there's a few other gravity changing running games out there, probably some free. VVVVVV lets you control your movement while all the iPhone ones I've seen are auto run and you just control gravity.

Or is your Gamelofting just going over my head?

I'm not saying I have logic, I'm just saying what I'm saying.

Plus nobody has proof yet this is a bad game anyway so at least give it a chance.

Ok, what is the difference between Warpgate Free and Paid versions?

I can't find anything anywhere :|
You can only level up/progress the plot up to a certain point in the free version.

Quick recommendation for two games that I don't remember seeing in here:

Super Stick Golf http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/super-stick-golf/id397049430?mt=8
mzl.nblznhud.320x480-75.jpg

Simple and fun little golf game. Sequel to Stick Golf and it contains all the original game's courses. Retina and Game Center supported, and they will be making it a universal app eventually. Currently on sale during a launch promo.

I know I am quoting myself here, but the universal update is out now (native iPad support), and they are starting work on adding multiplayer.
playing this on iPad is glorious. lots of value here and a great game to boot. i can vouch for this one!

Is there a free app on the ipad to read txt files and maybe even rtf?
Or a good one </= 99p?
Cloudreader and Stanza don't.

flying hamster got released for ios, with full retina display support @ 60fps. i believe they also released this game through PSP minis. it's basically a shmup inspired by konami's parodius series. seems very polished and interesting. appears to be very content rich hence the price @ $5.99.

Looks awesome, but I'll wait for impressions before biting. If it's got as much content/is as polished/is as fun as Dodonpachi I'll happily bite for that much cash.

flick golf HD 59p! i got the iphone version when it was on sale for the same price and it was totally worth it, so i don't mind double-dipping for less than the cost of one version's non-sale price.

I use my PDFReader for all of that, works great, and whenever I mail txt/rtf/doc/... to myself the mail client gives me the option to open and store it in PDFReader, really handy.

Awesome, rich text format and doc support, going to check it out right now! :D

edit:
Which one??

spent some time digging for stuff that nobody ever posts anywhere... found a few minor gems, both have Lite versions that can be played that are worth a look and even if not they're both .99

Pixel Ninja!

this one is kinda a must if you are a huge Tenchu fan... plays pretty much identical to a limited 2D version of Tenchu. Also supports GameCenter.

anyone know if Gravonaut is worth it? As dumb as it sounds, ever since they updated the icon for it I want it now.

I haven't tried it myself, but here is a pretty thorough feature and interview that might help you make up your mind.

Mega Jump is a damn awesome free game. Traditional cute endless jumper but so good... Really not normally my cup of tea but I love this one.

Also, Nova 2 has some pretty good-looking levels in its single-player campaign... Most of it just looks very solid but some of it feels like I'm playing a current-gen fps on a pc, especially when they're doing full specular and bump maps all over the place.

Run Like Hell! was updated with a new winter location and a Time Trial mode. Now you run against a Yeti. You can really tell the developers love some Uncharted. :lol

It's my favorite running game on the appstore.

Wizard Hex, a boardgame-like which generated some discussion a few pages back, is down to $3 from $5 until Jan 11th. That was enough for me. I've only played one game so far, but it seems nicely put together.

It's almost like a puzzle game pretty neat. Lots of content too and very challenging.

My only nits atm:
-would be cool to have variable wind, but that's maybe a selfish request since i prefer a realish golf game vs a puzzle game
-power meter charges up too damn slow -- why does every iOS golf game do this!? maybe i'm just old school but i like the power-setting to be challenging although obviously here the big challenge is calculation
Yeah, the power meter has to go slow since, as you say, it's more or less a puzzle game. A faster power meter would mean that many of the crazy shots you have to make would be near-impossible to repeat. It would be badly frustrating.

But I agree with you in general about the general awfulness of other true golf games on iOS. None of them can hold a candle to Hot Shots Golf. :(

Sounds like you already picked something, but I think any file storage/viewer type app can view those types. There's a bunch of free ones I think, so if you haven't gotten anything yet that's another option to look into. If you have a Dropbox account the Dropbox app might work for it (you can also star stuff for offline access), and PlainText can edit txt files on a DB account.

Let's Golf 2's power meter is painfully slow. Almost to the point of being an insult. There is no thought going into a shot, which takes away from the whole point of playing golf. There needs to be some challenge in the swing aspect.

Hot Shots Golf did all of the little things so right. That's why it found success. Not just because it has goofy characters with heads the size of watermelons. Unfortunately that's what Gameloft thought while neglecting the little things that Clap Hanz is good at.

The only golf game I've had fun with so far is Flick Golf and that's just an arcade, hole-in-one type game (still a ton of fun though!). Tiger Woods 12: The Masters will still make it to iOS so we'll see if EA can drastically improve their previous effort to make it an enjoyable, playable, challenging, but somewhat realistic game of golf.

Ill give you guys a preview of the next update of my iphone game.
I'm just making this for fun but my personal challenge to have the best ball rolling game on the app store. With this update I think I have Super Marble Roll beat :)
Of course anyone who bought or downloaded old version will get this for free.
Thanks! Just what I expected! :D

Tilt to Live is really hard! But the tilt controls are GREAT and the music is FANTASTIC! I'd say it's worth the $1 just for the music, actually. I love these kinds of tunes :D

I really like Tilt to Live. My favorite Robotronlike. Feel like that and Doodle Jump have the best tilt controls, but TtL is the most impressive. The amount of modes and stuff they add all the time is really impressive.

Tilt to Live dropped to $.99 today, so I finally, finally bought it. LET'S SEE HOW GOOD IT REALLY IS GAF
My favorite iOS game. Sadly noone seems to play it from what I saw in Game Center.

Tiit To Live is a a greatly polished and well playing game, but I can' get to it at all myself.. Bit Pilot is more for me.

Same here, it looks fantastic for what it aims to do but it's really not my cup of tea stylistically. Much prefer Geometry Wars: Touch & Circuit_Strike.One.

Hol-leeee... just got a great high-score on Minotaur Rescue, Deep Space mode, sitting at no. 2 on the leaderboards just behind Jeff Minter himself. Just wanna throw out my almost daily recommendation for people to download and play this game.

8555183aminotaur127.jpg

It may look like a simple Asteroids clone but scratch the surface and it's a brilliant score attach shmup with unique controls and a surprisingly deep scoring system. I've been hopelessly addicted to it all week, it's honestly the best shooter I've played so far on iOS. Spread the word GAF!

There are a pitiful handful of people on the leaderboards, barely over 1000, this game seriously deserves more exposure.

Any recommendations of games with good stories for iPhone?

I already have:

Broken Sword
Cause of Death
Chaos Rings
Monkey Island 1

Ummm... Monkey Island 2? I think I may have heard (could have been a fever dream) that the DS game Ghost Trick is coming to iOS soon, but I'm not 100% on this.

There was someone a few pages back asking whether the hyper cannon in Dodonpachi (iPhone mode) makes you invulnerable or not, I figured it out a bit yesterday. It seems like you're invulnerable to bullets and lasers, but not objects. Like the stage 3 or 4 boss that throws those balls at you can break it up, or the rotating laser turrets on 5, or the stuff the final boss throws out. I'm not sure enemies themselves can hit you though, I'm guessing they get destroyed though (all the other stuff I mentioned is indestructible, so that may be the key).

Not really gaming related, but is there any word if Dark Horse comics will be bringing other Star Wars comics to the appstore? I want to finish reading the Legacy saga. :(

You're missing Phoenix Wright and Beneath A Steel Sky.

Also Flight of the Amazon Queen. Isn't as good as any of the ones mentioned above but worth a look at if at least for the two opening scenes.

Oh and Simon the Sorcerer and the sequel.
