Are they discontinuing the 3gs now that this is out? didnt see it in any phone shops and im not interested in the 4G as it costs a fuckload and thought you'd be able to get the £gs on offer or something.
You can still get the 3GS.

8GB is still sold (Well its a new size.. for the 3GS but thats what they are still selling for 3GS for the next year)

Wow looking back at the last few pages I noticed the "iPhone 4 plagued with antenna reception problem; hardware design to blame" thread has kept Charred Greyface out of this thread.

well on my receipt from AT&T it says that the 3GS is not returnable, because it's discounted.

I don't know if that means they are going to stop selling them soon or if they are just doing a no return policy just because they have the new iphone 4 out.

either way, spend a little more, and get a 4.

$199 is a fuckload?

I don't have an iPhone 4 and, after you and borghe's nonsense, I don't care to post here anymore. Although, I am tempted to link each and every new article on Apple's shenanigans just to piss you off.

Decided since I'm staying with ATT for at least another 2 years, that I should get an Iphone 4. We will see how long it takes to get here from the ATT site. They said 7-14 days, whereas the Apple store said 3 weeks, so we will see.

Just a FYI .. your iPhone 4 videos will be bugged if you hold the phone a certain way when recording. :lol

You can't hold the iPhone 4 with the volume controls facing up (so the Home button is on the left) or else your videos will not only show up upside down in VLC, but also the video will skip every second once you upload them to iPhoto '09.

Doesn't happen if you hold the phone upside side (volume controls down) - both VLC and iPhoto (when the video is opened in Quicktime) play nice.

Absolutely ridiculous. The only good thing is that they're fine once they're in iMovie for some reason ..

Borders recently merged with Kobo. Kobo has a pretty decent e-reader app.

Just noticed this when reading Alice in Wonderland in landscape mode.

I'll have to compare this app on the ipad and see if it has the same results.

I thought the 16gb 3GS was gonna be 99?

How much are the 99 8gb out of contract?

I have a friend that just bought an 8gb touch its like

Why not just get an iPhone? lol wouldn't you just essentially add the data plan to your current family plan? an extra 15 a month right?

Told same 7-14 days. Ordered one from ATT store Tuesday, shipped out Saturday and schedule for Fedex delivery this Tues July 6. Thus, is really 7 days.

Just love how shipping works. Leaving Dallas, TX > Memphis, TN > San Antonio, TX.

Wow never knew there was a seperate kobo app from the borders e-reader, unfortunately landscape mode on both apps seem to have cut of some sentences from the next page. Tried it on the ipad and it isn't there.

side note, iMovie worth buying?

I never paid for a single game in the two years I had my 3G. Over time, though, I realized that most free games are complete crap... Fruit Ninja, on the other hand, would totally be worth $5 or more. For only a dollar, it's a steal; what a great game.

You assholes are making me want to buy Fruit Ninja... arrghh....

It just... it's just fruit tossing into the air and you slice it, right? Just trying to best your high score?

But... Disco Blade... I don't know what that means but it has Disco in the name... so... curious..

Yeah, it's basically that one minigame in Wario Ware - which is partly why I didn't want to buy it at first.

But then I remembered I loved that minigame...

I used to only play free games but ever since the iPad came out I (sadly) rarely look into the free store anymore. There's just so many good apps that are .99

Man, ZombieSmash looks really fun.

FUCK. I just bought a $15 iTunes gift card to use when Puzzle Agent hits the App Store. But I've already spent $2 on 1000: Find 'Em All! and Doodle God. Now I'm contemplating buying ZombieSmash, Fruit Ninja, and World of Tunes? (an Elite Beat Agents clone that looks very tempting since I can't find my DS)

UGHHH Puzzle Agent you never had a chaaance

so i ordered the iphone 4 from apple and it should be arriving tomorrow. i'm upgradng from a 3GS.

do i just activate it through itunes and will it transfer my number over to the new phone? thanks in advance dudes.

Here's no way to get nook stuff on the iPhone is there?
There is a Barnes and Noble app for iOS devices. I think there might also be DRM-breaking thingamajigs out there, but I've never tried that.

What's the best comic reader for the iPhone, guys?

comiczeal 4 (4 bucks)

FYI, the current ipad version (8 bucks) will be updated to become a universal app in the next couple weeks.

Baseband code execution would allow for a carrier unlock, not JB, which is practically a reality anyway as musclenerd and other Dev-team members have already managed to get Cydia running.
Ooops, I got confused between baseband and the bootloader/iBoot

is it just me, or is it easier for most of you to shoot video with your iphone in good quality than an actual video camera?
For most people, it will be... I'll be happy to use it for on-the-spot recording or for short little things like this. The shakiness (no image stabilization) and "jelly-vision" (some warping when tilting/panning) of the iPhone would still make me want to use my camcorder for most things, but ultimately it comes down to what I'm recording.

But the iPhone 4 will definitely do a better job of recording video than most peoples' point-and-shoot cameras. Hell, the camera will be better in general, too.

I wonder if that's what they'll work on next, hardware wise? They already have the perfect screen - at this size, they can't make it a higher resolution. The form factor is amazing if they can sort this antennae shit out, the camera doesn't really need any more MP (maybe go to 8, but no reason to go higher really) they have a flash now, they have a front-facing camera, so maybe next they'll focus on fine-tuning the camera? Have it use all the tilt sensors and gyros for image stabilization? (Is that something that could be done with software, since the hardware is already all there?)

Oh and add a pico projector too :lol

Yeah, it's starting to move into iPod territory hardware-wise (much more incremental updates). Maybe 4g, better processor, more RAM, more HD space, FM tuner, thinner or bigger battery. Also shows there's not too much more an iPad can do down the line (after getting the cameras). There's got to be a point when the tech matures and it's just spec bumps, ala Macbooks. I think more stuff will happen on the software side with iOS.

Yeah, you're right. I think going forward, unless they actually do add a projector to it, the iPhone 4's design will be the last big change (unless they up the screen size, which I would hate since with so many apps already trailing with the Retina Display upgrades, that would be even worse.) and everything else will be power bumps and battery life bumps. I wonder what iOS 5.0 will be like?

Haha, imagine if we ever get to the point with iPhones that we're at with Macs, where it's like, "I have all these apps, but they only run on iOS Mobile 7.0, and not iOS Mobile X, so I have to run my iPhone in iOS Mobile Classic mode to play them." :lol

Well Apple does seem to redesign form factors every 3-4 years or so, even with the Mac mini, Macbooks, and iMac. There's also always those crazy rumors about getting rid of the home button an making the whole front a screen, the screen that changes its surface to simulate buttons, the camera under the screen, the touchscreen on the back, etc., but I doubt that stuff is coming. I guess a projector and/or 3d is also possible, but I really feel like all that is gimmicky.

In 2012 I wouldn't be suprised to see a completely wireless version with no headphone socket (wireless headphones), no dock (wireless syncing and charging via a magnetic induction charger dock), no home button (could add a rocker power switch or just use the one button on top), and a larger screen that takes up most of the front.

It's not that far fetched. But considering the iPhone is quickly becoming Apple's most profitable device, we might see some of these ideas introduced as a seperate iPod touch line. An iPod air for example. It'll test the waters and introduce the public to new tech ideas, such as wearing wireless Apple headphones instead of the traditional pair with leads running to the iPod.
