GPS on the iphone is the best IMO. Especially if your vehicle has bluetooth or a iphone/ipod interface. Listen to the ipod while navigating.

MotionX GPS Drive is the best one out there. The app itself is $.99 and there a subscription fee. Not sure what it is though.

Has it been fast enough for you? I have a garmin and I tried once with my iPhone 4 and Navigon and it wasn't fast enough moving to the next step for quick turns. I figured the iPhone's GPS wasn't quite strong/accurate enough for it.

I haven't used another GPS to compare to compare it to. I use VZ Navigator and it usually tells me I'm going the wrong way pretty quickly.

The company recommends using a Wi-Fi or 4G network, despite the fact that the latter isn't yet available for iOS devices. (Hmmm, did they just drop an iPhone 5 launch clue?) I never got as far as testing it on AT&T's 3G network, as my Wi-Fi tests were sufficiently revealing--and not in a good way.

Nearly every call I made had one problem or another. On the first, I heard a couple rings, then silence for several seconds, then more rings. The person on the other end had answered on the initial ring, but said I "wasn't there."

On the next call, I talked for a few minutes, then learned I was "breaking up." Shortly after that, the callee couldn't hear me at all, so I had to hang up. Later I called another friend and chatted for about 6 minutes. He sounded great at my end--loud and clear--but reported that at one point, my voice dropped out for a full 10-15 seconds.

I then completed an 8-minute call that was nearly perfect from start to finish--loud, crystal-clear, and with only one or two tiny audio hiccups.

Your mileage may vary, of course, and you have nothing to lose by taking MagicJack for a test-chat. Also, a MagicJack rep informed me that the company is being bombarded with sign-ups, so my issues may have been due to server overload (which hopefully MagicJack will iron out).

GAF help please. I just got an Iphone 4 for my birthday. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to install ringtones on the thing.

I know that apple are greedy bastards so they want me to buy them, however googling the situation it seems that you could do it through itunes itself. However, whenever I try to create the ACC version of my 30 second music file I NEVER FIND THE OPTION!!

I'm on Windows 7 64-bit, Itunes 10.4.1.10 if that matters.
Much appreciated :)

Prefs -> Import Settings. Then right click your song.

I checked the import settings and everything was just like your picture, but when I right click on my song I still don't see the option ;(

Any idea on what might be causing that??

Try checking "advanced" in the menu bar and see if it's there?

Well it seems to be there but it's unclickable ;/

Gah, and I'm having such a shitty day too, I just want to create a ringtone of the Portal 2 turret opera and I can't...

But, seriously thanks man, unless you have an idea on how to make it clickable I don't wanna bother you anymore, I'll try to figure it out on my own.

You're not trying to edit songs that are on your phone right? Right click the song that's in your computer's library. And the song isn't a protected/DRM file?

Anyone know a tool for Mac that would allow me to easily remove a portion of a song title? For example, sites like to add random crap to some songs - especially for mixtapes and I'd like to remove those in mass from songs without having manually edit the title for each one (obviously for things that are the same per song, like album title, are easy to do in iTunes).

I've tried that style of headphone and found it rests uncomfortably on my neck. Different strokes for different folks but I'd suggest you consider a 'soft' wire style like this:

I've gone through a couple different bluetooth headsets (Jaybirds, Jabra Halo, Sony, Motorola) and I settled on this Sony Ericsson bluetooth clip that you can stick wired headphones/earphones into. It's like I'm using an iPod Nano while my phone is kept in my pockets.

I'm hoping Apple sorts this out tomorrow; official wireless headsets are long overdue...
 
I am looking for an effective, yet small case for my iphone 4 AT&T White 16 GB.

I just now realized my next upgrade is in March of 2013, i don't want to break my phone before then or after :(.

Any help is great <3.
 
I don't know where else to ask this, save the stupid questions thread, but hopefully it's not too stupid a question:

I have a 3GS that functions perfectly except for a relatively fried screen that Apple can replace for $120. Can I sell its parts for cash anywhere? Should I repair it and then sell the functional 3GS to someone (for hopefully more than $120)? Or should I just recycle this sumbitch and never look back?

I suppose I can also keep it around as a backup incase my 4 is ever lost or fried.

you can buy a replacement screen for about $30 on amazon. Replace it yourself or have someone else do it. Then sell it on ebay.

I have a problem with gmail. I've set Fetch New Data to Push but I do not get any notifications that I have a new mail. Should I also set something in Fetch option? What about Advanced - Manual or Fetch?

I basically want to get new mail as soon as it is on a server.
 
For those of you with a White iPhone 4, 6 months later would you get white again? Did you have problems with it like discoloration?

Reading Macrumors threads I found people had issues with screen protectors and the proximity sensor. Found no threads for discoloration though.
 
Hi everyone. After the 4S announcement, I decided I am going to hold onto my 4 for another year at least.

My cheap silicon Otterbox case has stretched out, and frankly sucks now.


I am looking for a new hard case, not as bulky as a full otterbox, but not silicon. I would not mind getting a battery case either. Material or color doesn't bother me as much. Any suggestions?
 
Apple CS is phenomanal. My iPhone apparently had a "swollen battery" which made part of the back stick out of its shape - Genius Bar didn't ask if I dropped it or did it intentionally - Gave me a new one. I would of been satisfied with a refurbished one

Alright so this is probably not possible but I just want to check to make sure

I bought an Iphone 4 about 3 weeks ago (no comments about should have waited for 4s please) in the 16gb model for Verizon for 199.99

Due to the upcoming Iphone 4s being released soon the price of the 16 and 32gb Iphone has decreased severely.

The 32GB is now 199.99 and the 16 is 149.99


I was wondering if it was possible to return my 16gb and move up in storage to the 32Gb Iphone without having to pay $400+ or basically buy a new Iphone outright. I simply want to exchange mine for a larger capacity one.

Is this possible?

Along with the Mophie, I found the Boost case, which costs a bit less and is pretty slick. Doesn't add a lot more size to the phone, comparatively. I was gonna wait and get the 4S but seeing the 4 32GB go down in price, I opted for a iPhone 4 32GB instead. Plus the plan I'm in would allow me to get a new phone in August, so if a new iPhone comes out next year, I'll be ready for it.
 
Guys my battery is getting destroyed and I don't know why!

I had an iPhone 4 for almost a year before the home button started to play up, I then got a replacement phone and everything seemed okay (the battery life wasn't any better than my old phone, but no worse)

Now suddenly it's running out of charge really quite quickly, even when I put it into airplane mode, when previously it'd use actually zero % battery if I went to bed and checked it again the next morning.

My phone is jailbroken, and I am using a much newer iOS version (from 4.1.2, now using 4.3.3 on the new phone) which could go someway to explaining it... but does anyone please know why my battery is now draining even in airplane mode?

Okay that boost case I ordered? It was fucking dead on arrival.

Forget the fucking battery case. I want an awesome hard case for my 4. Willing to spend 50 bucks, but I don't want it to be super bulky.

Thought I was the only one. Happened in 4.3.5 too, though hasn't since I did a clean restore for 5.0.
