Why doesn't this game have downsampling?
Yeah I am really confused why it doesn't allow it, especially since there is a 1080p30 mode as well for Pro owners.
Why doesn't this game have downsampling?
Nope, 1080p and a near flawless 30fps......thank goodness.
Thanks and wow - there appears to be ample amounts of AA in the 1080p mode now! I remember before in the trailers and screens released there was literally no AA in the game at all. Thankfully that seem to have changed. There are shots in here!

Well .. The Last of Us runs at double the frame rate at 1080p![]()
Also Rise of TR has some drops to 27~ running in 4K specifically in the geothermal valley area, the enriched 1080p mode is pretty much rock solid at 30.
The decision to lock it at 30 could be an intentional decision too, like how they locked the ps3 remasters of Ico and Shadow to 30 FPS as well (also, i don't believe for a second, going by performance otherwise, that this game would have come close to a locked or consistent 60 even if left unlocked).
WTF timeline are we in ..that the new normal is 20-30 FPS is not crazy for PS4... and the Pro locked at 30 on a built out PS3 game? Also that 30 FPS is even an acceptable target? Is this because the bones are like 10 years old? I target (rarely hit) 60 FPS ....at 4k on a 3 year old GPU on my PC...

It's pointless to refer to this as a PS3 game. In its current incarnation this would probably run at like 4-5FPS on PS3.WTF timeline are we in ..that the new normal is 20-30 FPS is not crazy for PS4... and the Pro locked at 30 on a built out PS3 game? Yeah, it looks like that 30% CPU boost in Pro gives it just enough juice to clean the framerate completely. Then I guess in the 1900p mode there could be some other kind of wall it hits that causes smaller framedrops. Also, i think it's pretty clear that the CPU is probably the limiting factor here as far as performance goes.
Apart from that, I think it's mainly a CPU issue. Lots of physics work and great Ai in this game. I don't think the GPU is overly stressed here, it's the reason why the stronger CPU in the Pro is pulling in better performance at 1080p and even 4k.Yeah it seems to be a memory leak issue with the game, since it drops to a low framerate in any mode or PS4 and requires a hard reset of the console to get rid of it and then your framerate is fine when you start in the exact same spot.
Really weird...
Shades of Skyrim on PS3
TLoU had it removed because it made the FPS worse than the base PS4 model. Seeing how bad TLG runs on base PS4, I don't think that's the reasoning behind it.
were these comparisons done with the 1.01 patch or the base game off the disc?
im actually interested in how the unpatched game performs
I'm shocked a Team ICO game is poorly optimized.
Simultaneously, the Pro bump still feels so damn minimal....
Crazy this was going to be a PS3 title.
What's with the lack of supersampling options in some games on 1080p screens? I thought it was standard for there to be an option to run it at higher resolution even if you're just downsampling it.
What I'm wondering is... how about 2160p achieved through 'checkerboard rendering'? With a lesser total pixel-count (by the 1920×2160 buffer) than what it already outputs, I suppose it would be less taxing under the same circumstances than the resolution it renders natively now, and it might have resulted in a less blurry picture quality (artifacts notwithstanding) when bypassing the step for image scaling from 1890p to 2160p.Also, why no 1440p option? This is like TLOU, why is the drop from 1900/1800p to 1080p necessary for marginal fps gains?
"Variable 20-30fps on regular PS4"
This game is obviously following in the path of Assassins Creed and Halo MCC by being rushed out for Q4. It clearly needs another 6-12 months of work to get it polished.
Aren't you aware of who the devs are?
Been waiting 9 years. But I wont pay $60 for that shit
It's not even that it's 27FPS non stop. It just drops to there at spots, maintaining 30FPS pretty nicely otherwise.Having only a 1080p set, I'd rather have the downsampled version at 27fps than 1080p at locked 30fps. Especially after seeing how amazing Watch Dogs 2 looks downsampled on a 1080p set
I wish there was a 1440p downsample modeSo is everyone on Pro gonna play in 1080p mode to get that solid 30fps experience?

I'll play it in 1080, not like I have any other option.

Also I noticed a huge list of western names under technical advisory or whatever in the Credits. Do you think they had the western tech teams come in and try and triage this?
Not sure why they didn't opt for 900p on base PS4.
Seems like another wait for a patch and sale for us OG PS4 owners.
The frame rate looks awful on the base PS4, how did Sony deem this acceptable? Hopefully a patch can fix it.
If this is the future for us on OG PS4s, I think I am done with Sony for now.
It blows my mind that consistent performance isn't a perquisite for passing Sony's certification.
I guess its more;
'does it brick the PS4?'
'no'
'derp, guess its good to go!'

In a world where this happens for one game with a team that has a history of technical issues. If the games releasing in the next few months have similar issues then concern would be warranted.
It actually seems pretty good. Take a look at comparison screens here:How is the AA in 1080p mode? If it's good then locked 30fps at native resolution with nice AA is good enough to be honest, especially for a Team ICO game.
