The Last of Us 2 and Iron Man VR Delayed

And expectations are going to be super super super high!!!! Prepare for people to be reviewing it with a fine tooth comb expecting near 100% perfection. It better be super polished or this game will be slated big time. The amount of delay this game has had will warrant high criticism.

These delays may cause their own demise.
if ff7 remake shitshow can get 9 and 10 from these supposed journalist, i don't think tlou2 is gonna have any problem.

so just your average NeoNazi stuff.

Just heard they are doing automatic refunds for these now, no need to request anything.

Both games have a plot about a virus outbreak, given those idiot reviewers who marked games down for "not being what we need right now" I can't blame Sony for delaying. I hope TLOU2 still comes out before the PS5, but I wouldn't mind if Iron Man VR is re-tooled to be a next-gen exclusive VR title.

Right? Not as many people have the appetite for "world ruining pandemic" right now

fair point. Seen that one ALYX review about the-game-is-great-but-I'm-too-stressed-out-to-play-videogames-right-now-so-8/10 ...

Really?
I'm looking outside right now and there's not one zombie and there's still 7 billion people alive. That's a lot

The Demand for video games is way up. The game should be released

Yup, I'll mock reviewers for marking a game down for it; but from a marketing perspective, it makes complete sense. Here in Europe we always had to wait like another 6 months for any Japanese winter sports title due to seasonal lack of appetite.

Videogames are often categorised as a form of escapism, and man - I want to escape to somewhere where nobody even knows what a virus or lockdown is, and judging by those Animal Crossing sales, other folks feel the same way.

It's odd to see people thinking this is somehow indicative of both titles being in development hell. I'd be more concerned that these games may get flat out cancelled similar to Propeller Arena or Disaster Report 4.

TLOU2 would never be cancelled

Oh sure, they'll salvage something out of it. But I can totally see the game that went gold a few weeks ago never coming out, and in its place, we get a PS5 title that downplays the whole virus outbreak angle of it with some major script rewrites. There are probably folks somewhere right now (working from home) balancing the costs of either approach.

It's rough too, a lot of the technical excellence that went into this will get overshadowed once PS5 games start stealing the limelight, so a delay now is a slippery slope into TLOU2 not releasing in its current state/form.

This may sound sick, but I kinda do have an appetite for that. More than usual actually.

This will NEVER EVER happen. It cost way too much money and it's just stupid. I think TLOU2 will hit "HARDER" strictly because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

It's the same reason the decade old Steven Soderbergh movie CONTAGION is all the rage right now - And that story is way more similar to Coronavirus than the zombie outbreak in TLOU

I think that maybe both are right. See, Plague Tale: Innocence got a max high player through this crisis, so definitely the virus thing is not "scaring" people, all the contrary. But what if the underline message of TLOU2 suggests kind of a conspiracy theory of government trying to reduce individual liberties through forced quaratines or so? Not saying thats the case, but what if? Then I would understand the delay.

I agree tlou2 will be reviewed amazingly well, it wont matter if the game is a masterpiece or pure trash its going to be praised.

Awful if true
It's so cool to always make Christians villains and make Christians hate gays.

All the Christians I know are perfectly fine with gays.

It's the Muslims and the Middle Eastern people who hate the fucking gays. Make a game where the people from
the terrorist countries show their true colors. Could Naughty Dog do that?

I don't understand how people continue to say there's not an "appetite" for this kind of game right now when in fact the exact opposite is provably true.

Yup
What do we think, there's gonna be Social Justice Warriors for the virus now? We can't enjoy movies or games about a virus or end of world scenario because of Covid-19?!?

you sure about that buddy? I know a lot of middle easterners/muslims that don't care.

Yeah, bad timing for virus related games from a marketing standpoint so not until Corona passes most likely.
I disagree, I think it's the best time. Who doesn't want to play this while we are in the midst of an outbreak. It adds to the experience.

In home media and entertainment is probably the most popular thing right now and marketing should not suffer.

I think the amount of middle easterners/muslims you know is probably not a proper representative portion of that statement. I'm pretty sure muslim religion does not accept homosexuals.

That's like saying I know a lot of middle easterners/muslims that are not terrorists.

Are implying that most of middle easterners/muslims are terrorists?

OK I read the whole thing. Now way it is true. At least I hope not considering the game is spoiled for me now.

But if it is true (4chan isn't reliable), this is a horrible move by Naughty Dog and I fully expect huge backlash.. Which would kinda of make Troy Baker's comments about people needing to have an open mind in this game make sense..

I'm sure Sony is concerned about negative PR coming from the virus as it currently stands if they were to release the game today, but I doubt that's where the actual decision to delay the release came from...

I would think it more likely came from people who want to buy the game physically, currentlybeing unable to or greatly restricted in doing so...

Getting out to a local gamestop Walmart or Best Buy is pretty difficult right now, doable yes, but most people aren't even trying, The other option obviously is have it delivered but there are still plenty of people who prefer to walk in and purchase their game in person.

I would wager Sony's probably Delayed the game so that they get the best possible sales on all avenues...

As for iron man VR Iwould imagine they're using this opportunity to clean it up and make it as good as possible...

But do you honestly think they're more worried about negative PR from the virus than the negative PR they'd receive if they bash Christians?

I'm not implying anything.

Not all middle easterners/muslims are terrorists! But are all terrorists middle easterners/muslims ? :pie_thinking:
You're missing the point

Muslims are famously anti-gay. They're number one at being anti-gay, and number one at being anti-woman - along with being number one at car bombings
The irony is that The Hollywood Elite Liberals and Democrats turn a blind eye and adore the Muslims, yet hate the Christians

So... Druckman did an interview for the PlayStation blog (in spanish)...and here it is:

Now, here's a bit translated for you, GAF:

Another question that I've seen is that there's a press demo; a demo that was given to the press probably at the end of last year. There's people saying "Hey, I'm dying for trying the game, couldn't you just release that demo on PSN?". I don't know if you've thought about it or if its even feasible.

Yes, I'm aware of it. I think people doesn't understand that it's very different when you offer a game demo on a convention or for the press and you have Naughty Dog people there, looking out and making sure everything works. Actually, when you make the press demo, you have the entire game and what you do is cut a little bit for people to play it.

You cannot do that when you release a worldwide demo on PSN, you have to have more security measures
, it's a demo that you have to create almost from scratch and it's a really big job which we don't want to push our team that's focusing on finishing the game.

Besides, that demo wasn't a good example of the point the game is in now. The game has been considerably improved since that press demo.

Well, you know that when we heard that the game was definetly going to be postponed for logistical reasons, one of the questions that I think many fans have asked is: "Hey, why not releasing the game digital-only and keep the release date?". I don't know if you have any opinion about how that would work.

Well... we haven't made a definitive decission yet. We've simply reacted to the circumstances. It's a different sales chain, we have to see if we can offer physical copies to the people, if there's enough support for internet release... you know we're talking about a global launch that people everywhere ir waiting.
So... Naughty Dog lying again? how come? /s

"it's very different when you offer a game demo on a convention or for the press and you have Naughty Dog people there, looking out and making sure everything works. "
"The game has been considerably improved since that press demo."

So it wasn't a working demo. It was a WIP AT BEST. We have no idea how the final game will look like.

"what you do is cut a little bit for people to play it.
You cannot do that when you release a worldwide demo on PSN, you have to have more security measures
,"

I call that bullshit. If they'd have the game ready (supposedly by may), all it took for them was to do what he said: cut a little bit for the people to play it.

LOL... hahaha...even if the game is somehow ready (which I really doubt given all they've said before), they admit that PSN is a disaster when it comes to digital releases. Days Gone launch was awful and PSN servers simply meltdown from the downloads. They don't have the infrastructure for a release of that magnitude.

They weren't ready to release the game in may. Period. They needed any excuse to postpone its launch date until it was ready, since they didn't even have a proper prototype by the end of last year when there was the press demo (which the press couldn't take pictures of). If anything, the main version of the game will be released with the PS5.

Will it be a good quality game? probably. In fact, I'm quite sure of it, but it sucks big time they've lied through their teeth by confirming a release date when the game wasn't even in alpha stage. And it sucks even bigger time when they've lied saying that the PS4 version will be the definitive one, when it will obviously be the PS5 version the main one.

This is an awful take. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

He's basically saying that it's easier for them to have a demo at a press event compared to one that's released digitally to the public. Why? Because demos that are often released are datamined and players find ways to get into parts of the game devs tried to block off. That's what he means by "security measures."

Don't remember what to happened with Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 15?

People found many spoilers in the Final Fantasy 7 demo.

You guys need to give it up.

Seems like they're getting around to refunds finally. I got a notification on my PS4 that basically says:
"Pre-order has been canceled and there's no known release date yet. As a result we withdrew the current pre-order and canceled all pre-orders.
You will be refunded back to your original payment source in 1-2 days. If source is unavailable, it goes into ur PSN wallet.
We will notify yo when there's a new release date."
