Are we going to get a pseudo-gloating thread for every piece of news like this for each country every week?
The game sold gangbusters on preorders and online. The drop is in line with expectations from such a frontloaded release. I swear when the game hits 10-15-20 Million some people will choke on their vitriol.

Hmmm, compared to Spiderman, yea I'd say it failed in Japan. I mean Dayz Gone did better initially. I think we would all agree TLOU2 is the better game. Maybe its COVID 19 related? Maybe there's less of an appetite for this type of game given the world situation right now.

A big drop after the first week is not unusual. These are big titles (especially persona 5 in Japan)

80% drop surely would have some impact.
7 years of development. Huge studio with large number of employees and contractors. Mega marketing budget.
I would love to know the "true"cost of this game and number of sales required to turn a "true" profit.

Quick back of napkin math: (i dont know what tax cocessions game companies get)
4 million sales x US$60= 240M
I seriously wonder if they have even broke even yet.

I'm not coming from that paradigm. And I'm speaking of Japan only. If Sony were depending on Japan, they wouldn't get a cent back from this.

As much as I would like to jump in the air and fist pump. This is normal for big selling games.

Thare are only a select few elite that have staying power (Mario, GTA, Pokemon, and so on)
