Saw King Diamond last night... and holy shit what a show. Can't believe the guy is almost 60 and sounds so good live.
Lucky. Wish he'd come back to Montreal already.

I'm seeing him in Copenhagen next week and to say I'm excited is an understatement!
I've got a couple of family members with MS and it's a terrible disease. I really do wish him the best, particularly when such a thing has robbed him of his livelihood and apparent life passion. So Joey Jordison revealed last night he's been suffering from a rare form of MS that stopped him playing and basically robbed him of his legs towards the end of his Tim in Slipknot.
MS is incredibly hard to deal with when you've been diagnosed. You know that even with the advances they've made, it's really only something you can mitigate and not completely cure. So, maybe he wasn't ready to accept it at the time? Maybe he didn't want the public attention? It's also possible that he hadn't been diagnosed at the time, but was just suffering with related symptoms. It was a really emotional speech and it's great he's back on his feet. He kinda implied it was that that made him leave Slipknot, but if that's the case then why his departure so secretive? Not that I'm doubting it or anything, if just makes the whole thing seem a bit odd.

I don't know the guy and I've never really followed Slipknot, but I can imagine a bunch of reasons why it wouldn't have been discussed at the time of his departure.
Enjoy ! Easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Who's opening for him ? Here in Finland it was Amaranthe, which was a bit weird.
I don't really like their "E-type-metal" so i skipped them completely.
King Diamond turns 60 today !

God that must suck.... No chance at recovery for Jory?
Sometimes I get a really good riff stuck in my head.
Then I realize it's a Sabbath riff.
Nuclear Blast Entertainment is very pleased to announce the signing of Swedish progressive legends, OPETH. Always an unstoppable force for uniqueness amid a sea of generic swill, OPETH have been setting the rulebook ablaze, and ploughing a uniquely progressive and exploratory furrow for over 25 years now. Neither conforming nor exhibiting any desire to be restricted to a single genre, OPETH, quite simply, have a time honored tradition of blowing our minds with both class and forward thinking. All these years later, nothing and everything has changed once again with their forthcoming album »Sorceress«.
"We're happy to confirm that we have indeed signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment and will be putting out our 12th studio album »Sorceress« via our own imprint, Moderbolaget Records," states Mikael Åkerfeldt. "The decision was made in Markus Staiger's (Nuclear Blast kingpin) ridiculously potent Porsche going at 150 mph somewhere in the south of Germany. We're happy to be part of the NB team and look forward to a fruitful relationship."
Nuclear Blast owner, Markus Staiger, continues:
"I am honored that OPETH have joined the Nuclear Blast family. Mikael Åkerfeldt and his fellow bandmates have demonstrated time and time again that OPETH are a band that never release an album that sounds the same. You never know what their new music will sound like! Nuclear Blast has been following the musical journey of OPETH from the beginning with »Orchid« to landmark albums like »Still Life«, »Deliverance«, »Damnation« and »Blackwater Park«, right up to 2014's »Pale Communion«! The band have become one of the most challenging artists in rock music today. It is not often that we get to work with musicians of their caliber and I'm thrilled to have such a unique genre-leader on the label. The future for OPETH and Nuclear Blast looks very bright."
Monte Conner, Nuclear Blast Entertainment president adds:
"OPETH are a band that have continually evolved and moved forward at every stage. Always innovating and always continuing to challenge themselves as players and writers. They are simply fearless. I can't wait to hear what they come up with next! It's an amazing feeling to be reunited with one of my favorite bands and I look forward to my colleagues here at Nuclear Blast being able to have their own OPETH experience and role in the band's continuing journey. I want to thank Mikael Åkerfeldt and OPETH for putting their faith and trust in everyone here at Nuclear Blast."
OPETH are currently in the studio with Tom Dalgety putting the finishing touches on Sorceress. A release for the album is tentatively scheduled for the fall via Moderbolaget Records / Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
New Opeth. New Russian Circles. New Meshuggah. New MetallicaIt's going to be a good Summer/Fall.Hahahaha. no.
I'm not really an established Metal-GAF member but I just now ventured in and figured I would answer:Curious Metal-Gaf. Did you ever have trouble with owning Metal albums when you were younger due to your parents? Any smashed albums or something, or were you able to get albums you want by, say, hiding certain lyrics or something?
Since my parents are divorced, I just bought albums at my mom's house and kept them there. My dad would never let me get Parents Advisory albums, but my mom did as a special agreement of NOT repeating what I heard off of albums.
It arrived in-shrink, blemish-free, number 2200- or 2400-something out of 8000. I can't wait to start listening to some of the remixed songs and some of the exclusive stuff.
Please let the new Opeth have death metal growls.
It really is a good one. I know we all probably have plenty of albums we can listen to all the way through, I've seen threads asking for suggestions for those before and they always get a lot of posts. This is easily one of them though. No filler and everything goes perfectly together. Even the cover of Manila Road's "Necropolis" (my personal favorite song off the album), which has the most different sound and vibe off the whole album, works by being placed towards the middle of the album. That Visigoth album is 10/10. One of my absolute favorite metal albums the past few years.
Please let the new Opeth have death metal growls.
If you've heard him do them live lately, you probably don't actually want this. His growl sounds thin and weak, now. Please let the new Opeth have death metal growls.

I had no issues because my parents both listened to metal. My mom's favorite band was ACDC but she listened to a ton of hair metal and also Pantera. My step-dad's favorite band was Rush but he listened to a ton of Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Merciful Fate/King Diamond. No problems coming from them.
So I am coming in just because I wanted to show off to someone and I currently have no one who cares living in the area. This showed up today, something I never thought I would get my hands on (or never thought I would ever own unless I spent over $300 on it):

Some things I have been rocking this year so far. Not much new, but some of it was new to me:

New Gojira leaked the other day. I gave it a spin on youtube today and am a bit iffy on it. Still have it coming tomorrow so I already bought it, but I hope it grows on me.
I basically know them from The Way of All Flesh so this is a BIG change, but yeah, once I get used to it I"m hoping I like it.Yeah, it's streaming over here.
Listened to it a few times. It's good. Not great. I don't think it lived up to the hype, but maybe time will be kinder to it.
I don't know how to interpret's Mikael's facial expressions and hand signals, but I like!

Hnnnnngggggggg
Thanks for posting it
Any news about when it will be released?

Saw this a couple days ago but I don't listen to that band so didn't really care. But I thought the band's response was amusing.http://www.metalinjection.net/metal...hute-arrested-accused-of-killing-three-people
Well his life is potentially over.

As we watch this event unfold, we are shocked and saddened to learn that our former singer Erick has been involved in what seems to be a shooting by his own hands. Although all the details have yet to unravel, and he hasnt been an active member of Pyrexia for some time now, we have been rocked by this horrible news. Theres no question the man had obscure views and was an odd and quiet person at times, but you try and accept a persons shortcomings or different viewpoints. No one saw this in him.
They seemed to assume he's guilty as soon as the news broke.

I heard "Egypt" a couple months back on Pandora and decided that I should start checking them out again. I got into them with The Odyssey. I was heavy into mythology while still in school in the early 00's and obviously would love a metal album that deal with it but man, that album cover...V was the album that got me into Symphony X. Soooo good...
Symphony X, The Damnation Game, The Divine Wings of Tragedy, and Twilight in Olympus were all remastered back in 2004. I'm not sure who they stack up compared to the originals and maybe you even heard the remasters when you formed your opinion, but there could be better versions than what you heard.I could never get into any Symphony X other than The Odyssey.
Well... Underworld was decent, too. But the older albums I just can't get into because the production is just so bad. Everything sounds so flat to me.
My second go through on some solid equipment and with better-set expectations was a lot better. It's different, but it's good. Like, legit good. Maybe not what I want from Gojira, but lyrically it's fantastic and musically there's a lot to like.I gave it my first spin today at the gym. It's good, it's not as explosive as the other albums and it's very short. But then i got home, put on my quality headphones and amp and it's so much better like this.
There's some really good fucking songs on here. I just wish it was longer. It's a very short album. Another solid release. Not sure where it will rank in the discography but i can see i'll be spinning this for a while
Gojira never disappoints and i'm absolutely loving Shooting Star, Magma, Pray, and Liberation <3

Still not quite shaking the fact that I'm disappointed, but I've only gone through it twice. We'll see how things sit a week from now.
Yeah, that's a kick-ass cover. I also prefer Edge of Sanity's cover of "Blood of My Enemies" over the original. But I've never been much of a Manowar fan either.Recently I heard their Manowar cover "Thor" from the album Crowning of Atlantis with Primal Fear's Ralf Scheepers on vocals. The original sounds just okay to me but I've never really cared for Manowar all that much. Ralf brings "Thor" to life though and the song is so much heavier than the original. The song quickly earned a spot on my "All-Time Favorites" list.
Eh, they sound nothing alike really. But if you want to get into more Therion, definitely try Theli, it's the quintenssential album. I doubt it's too "operatic" for you if you enjoyed Lemuria/Sirius B, after all, but if so, then try the ones before that; Lepaca Kliffoth is bloody amazing, the operatic vocals are more sparse and it's just full of amazing occult-tinged riffing. But yeah, I have been wanting to get back into Therion. Overall I like them, though like I said before, some of their songs with more operatic vocals fall flat for me. I'm not sure why, but I always kind of equate Symphony X and Therion a bit in my head. Maybe because Sy- and Th- are so close on playlists and music libraries or becuase of the progressiveness they have demonstrated from time-to-time (Symphony X more so than Therion though)? Not sure, but talking about Symphony X brought them to mind.
Wh-wha...? How?I've also been thinking about picking up the board game 011 over the last couple weeks, which features Therion in it.
