The Metal Thread |OT2| All Riffs, No Gifs

Lately I've been listening to Peste Noire's Self titled release and Oranssi Pazuzu's " Muukalainen Puhuu " and I figured I would ask Neogaf if they had any good recommendations similar to these bands.

It is officially Fall here in the US. Recommend me some albums that would be best heard while taking a journey through autumn forests.

No Drudkh allowed. Too obvious.

Good. It will stop being 100 degrees where I am.

Anyway, it varies, but I've always stuck with...well shit. Moonsorrow is more of a winter band for me, as is something like The Ruins of Beverast. Maybe Tiamat's Wildhoney? That one seems to work. Oh, and Dark Tranquility's The Gallery seems to be best in The Fall, not so much the winter.

Another band I came across is Uaral. Folk/Doom Metal band from Chile. I wish the vocals were more decipherable, though that's not too much of a complaint.

I guess Estatic Fear, Orom, and October Falls works well, too.

I've actually been doing a lot of hiking lately so I am curious to hear other people's answers. Here's some I use.

Type O Negative - October Rust (another obvious choice imo)
Tiamat - Wildhoney
Morose - Autumn Poetry
Woods of Desolation - As the Stars
Austere - To Lay Like Old Ashes
Wyrd - Huldrafolk
Nest - Woodsmoke (not metal technically but I think it's perfect. They also did a split with Agalloch so they kind of count.)

Also, honorable mention to The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2 which is one of my all time favorite albums and my go to album with a fall atmosphere. Not metal though.

Too bad the singer is leaving the band. :P Not my thing to be honest, the girl's voice is amazing but the riffs bore the shit out of me. Hopefully that means her talent won't be wasted anymore... :D

*runs*

dont run bruh...Sleep blows donkey dick too...so dont be afraid to express your opinions...

That At the Gates song was pretty whatever!

New Electric Wizard is streaming on NPR.

I didn't know this is being released in a just few days. Hype.

BTW Dopethrone >>> all. Black Masses was fun.

Agalloch - The Mantle is the autumn album for me.
The Morningside - The Wind, The Trees And The Shadows Of The Past

After a six year hiatus. After Mikael Åkerfeldt. After Peter Tätgren.

They are back.

Here is the first single from "Grand Morbid Funeral" with new singer Nick Holmes:

new Job for a Cowboy song is fantastic (roll your eyes all you want if you haven't followed them - they've been headed in a different direction for a while now):

those vocals are pretty weak outside of the chorus, but I'm still excited

Awww yeah Pallbearer + YOB in like twenty minutes. Calling show of the year.

Holmes' biggest problem is to come after Tägtgren and Åkerfeldt. Respectable shoes to fill even with Holmes' pedigree. And I guess the big production for other instruments leaves his vocals a bit lacking.

Looking forward to the album still.

OH damn, sorry. I'm exhausted and stressed as fuck. You tend do that when you're like this, ha ha.

I remember a few articles reading about the shit that CC got during that time, yeah. Religion groups be crazy.

No worries.

Religious groups an metal have always had their run ins. Though lately things have cooled down, so its surprising to hear.

I may have just scored Chicago King Diamond ticket! My friend is going on tour and can't make it so he's selling it. A bit over face but thats okay because he still payed more for it.

I just need to double check the ticket is indeed for Chicago lol.

Can't wait!

Also, I've been out of the metal loop for a few weeks. Any new released?

Ok so I've been completely ignorant about the last two years releases. After 2012 is all void.
I've just found today that Mamaleek released a new album and it's also pretty fucking great what's next, they revealed Pyha true identity? Lord Ominous came back from the dead and Anubi released a new masterpiece? Njiqahdda realised they release far too many albums and sweared to make a new LP every five years?

Or else: rccommend me the most weird, strange and awkward black metal released in the last two-three years thank you very much.
