The New Xbox Series Experience "UI"

Chris Novak's voice reminds me of this:

Sorry that's the only tidbit I can offer on this. I'd have to try the UI myself.

The PS4 UI never got in the way of whatever I want to do (run games)... it doesn't look fugly (I think that looks aren't the problem with the xbox one's UI).

I hope the new one doesn't require people to "get used to it".
You had issues running games, how? I can't think of any console or UI that was difficult to run games... You need braille?

I too loved the blades of XB360.

There has to be an intuitive way of bringing it back...right?
There is, it's when you pull up the guide button. It's essentially the blades modernized. You can run everything from there and never look at the home screen if you choose not to.

I really like the new rounded look. Glad to hear it's going to even snappier and I love the addition of animated backgrounds. If they let the community really create and get wild we could get some awesome stuff.

If people don't stop talking about the blades.... :messenger_pouting:
They would never work on a modern console, which is why MS integrated them into the guide.

The people that remember them fondly are wearing rose tinted glasses, and letting nostalgia cloud their memory.

The 360 UI is terrible and slow to use now.

Hit it on the nose.

Ctrl+F Frodo.... Ok, good, a couple of you guys covered it.

I don't like either console's UI very much. Xbox keeps changing seemingly just for change's sake. At least PS4 felt consistent.

I'd rather Microsoft focused on functionality, especially in regards to their Xbox apps on Windows which are a disjointed mess, and crash absurdly often.

so many words but jfc can I just get a big horizontal endless list of games ordered by most recently played on the left

how is this hard

I hope they implement something similar to how themes worked on the PS4. I can deal with the slow, sluggish responses, but really enjoyed how PS4 had themes, and how unique they gotten over the years.

Do you get my point that if they weren't constricted by AD SPACES that the UI would be completely different. MS has always kept shitty AD spaces in their UI. If you do get this, than you're just being contrary for no reason.

A UI's job is to make things ACCESSABLE and not to SERVE YOU ADs.

This is an entire video masturbating over how great and accessible their UI is, how they're the best at making a UI, when they're still integrating wasted space(ADs) and they see nothing wrong with it. If these machines were subsidized by some sort of program, and the ADs were there as an agreement, than YES that would be great. But they're pricing competitively with Sony and Sony's ADs on their homespace are much much less obnoxious, and NOT integrated into the UI.

If you fail to see the problem with what MS is doing here, than there's something wrong.

WE are not FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES to make more money, we've BOUGHT the machines already.
I think you're paying to much attention to them, on your machine do they pop up like surfing a dodgy porn site?.

As I said I've never noticed them on my dash. However I find it funny you accept Sony advertising to you on their system but not microsoft, if you're against getting advertised to so much you wouldn't contradict yourself like that. Maybe Sony gives you your preferred ads idk.. Is your gripe with microsoft advertising game content to you just low-key fanboy warring for Sony?.

Looks intuitive and nice to look at.

My main issue with both ps4 and xbox one UI has been store navigation over the years so I'm hoping both consoles new versions are much easier to use.

Looks like Discord.
so they took '"inspiration" from the best social gaming place imo

(even if i will not use it)

Ive always struggled to understand when people have said that the Xbox UI is difficult to understand and navigate?
You can literally run anything from just pressing the home button and its all laid out in front of you from there with a tabs/modern blades system.

I get everyone has their own preferences, but you really have to be clueless if your having troubles with such a straight forward process as loading a game, its literally 2 buttons ;)

Stronger? I beg to differ and thts not the consensus, I'll also throw in the os which on Sony was faster, snappier, better by far.

But to each its own. This looks better than past Xbox ui so thts a start.
It may because I have a base PS4 and Xbox one x, but I have the opposite experience. Everything takes so damn long on my PS4 to get going where I'm where I want to be on Xbox much faster. Now I'm being a little whiney here because when I say "Soo damn long", it's really not that long. I don't turn my PS4 on as much so I could just be running into more required updates which slows down me getting into a game.

1 - anything is better than what they have now
2 - if it's snappy and fast as it looks that's great
3 - hope to hell they fixed the memory leaks so I don't have to unplug it from the wall every week
4 - the basic interface looks like xmb with an extra layer lol
I've been in the alpha skip ahead insider ring for a couple years now and I haven't had issues that require me to full restart as often. I would say once over the past couple months now since the UI overhaul. We got the UI a few months back.

It looks more polished, less square. It looks better.

I still think they need a UI fully optimized for console. This is still a remanence of the windows8, windows tablet and windows phone days. They wanted the UI to be the same on all platforms and it ultimately never worked great on either because it wasnt optimized per device.

Removing the AD blocks would also allow them to streamline the UI to a greater extent, the UI team is being gimped by being forced to include ADs in the basic design.

I wonder if the Xbox store tile will finally go away in this update.
I kind of hate it.
Agree. In fact, they should let us disable apps from appearing in the recent queue. I just want to see my games there. No interest in the settings or rewards tiles showing up.

And Sony will be selling 5x the number of consoles without it. What's your point?

You should be a really nice guy to debate with.
Apple: "Hey Epic, suck my dick, im a 2 trillion company LOL".

Or:

And Microsoft is 20x Sony profit. Whats your point?

Maybe the point of discussing a UI in a UI thread is just that.

The store app got updated like 3 times for me in 2 days. Check if theres an update.

And yes, this UI is coming to xbox one also. Probably not with all the XSX specific features.

Thanks ! I will after I download Gears 5 and Darksiders Genesis I have what to play this weekend ! :D

Biggest improvement I want is speed. Webpages load similar and far more content than what these dashboards do. I want pure speed out of the next UI.
