Has anyone figured out what exactly Error 86420 is?

I have two friends in Florida who can connect to each other via WFC (not DS to DS) without a problem, but for the past two nights, neither can connect to me, and I can't connect to them. We get the dreaded 86420 error each time.
 
I have Gracie the giraffe in my town today. What am I supposed to do to get her fashionitasomething badge? I tried dressing up with hat and glasses but none of them worked. I got quite annoyed at her and kept hitting her with the net.
Apparently she can feel no pain.

Both my friend an I are using a version 5 Linksys Wireless G router (WRT54G), newest model.
 
Well, I just finished taking a nap until 8PM, so I'm going to pre-heat the oven and start playing AC. I'll open my town in a bit. I have Nook's for another 2 hours!
 
I added you tort. I think I'm done playing for the moment though, maybe tomorrow. I also added twilight princess if you're still around to add me.
 
I received a bottle mail one day from one of my buddies in Florida, and he had sent it out the night previous.
 
FallenOne, that brand-spanking new 1.00.4 WRT54G v5 firmware update seemed to have done the trick! Ironically, amongst the listed changes was a fix to allow PSP games to play online! 2 of us managed to connect on our first go, after updating our firmwares (we both have the same model firmware), and we're going to try with the third tomorrow night or this weekend. Many thanks :D
 
Anyone have this problem? my nintendowifi stats haven't been up to date since sunday and my logins for dec is 0. I've tried reconfiguring my DS by getting a new code. no luck

To get to someone's town, do both have to have to have eachother's friend code in the friends address book? Or can you go into anyone's town who you have a code for? Also, do you have to have their name and town correct before connecting, or can you put their name and town as anything in your address book?
 
If anyone has an empty spot on their friend list, or hasn't connected with someone on their list, could you please register my girlfriend? She's loves AC but hasn't been able to play online with her character. She plays a lot, too.

Both people have to add each other (There will be a green circle if somebody you added has added you to thier list). The name and town do not have to be correct.
 
I visited Goo's town today and it's much niver than mine. Got a lot of fruit trees planted finally! My nooks will be open again tomorrow and Gabi is having a birthday bash. Woot.

Oh and I added Tort/Jeff.

This fox opened up a store in my town in a tent. I got a password to enter from one of my neighbours, but the fox won't sell me anything. Is there a trick to this?
 
You have to pay him 3,000 bells to be able to buy anything. He's shady. Anything you see in his tent is way overpriced and I've heard he sells counterfeit paintings.
 
Mine was closed yesterday. I didn't even play the game. It's pointless to play without Tom's store being open. I'd travel to other towns, but then I'd be only half as fun, since I couldn't come back and sell the fruits to Tom that same day.
 
I saw someone ask this earlier, but I never saw a reply...

Are you guaranteed to lose/trade a town member if you go online ala GC version? I'd like to go online, but there are about 3 animals I really don't want to lose.
 
I didn't lose an animal when I went online, but I lost one the day after. I think that was going to happen anyway, though. And, I didn't get a new animal either :(
 
I had one of my animals move out, but only when i reached the max of 8 animals. The following day, an animal from someone on my friends list moved in!

You can sell fruits to the open Nook store in the foreign town though ;) My room mate kept going in and out of Nooks last night until I figured out that he was picking all of my Oranges and selling them to Nook for 500 Bells a piece, just so he could buy the Large Festive Tree for his girlfriend that was for sale in my store.

Now I have no Oranges :'(

I also have a friend who is getting the 86420 error w/ her Netgear router (the 624 model I believe). Nothing we have tried has gotten us anywhere, but last night when she tried to connect I did get the "visitor is coming" message like she was going to arrive. On her screen though she got an error saying there was a conversation in progress but I wasn't talking to anybody. It almost feels like the game is trying to squeeze through a tiny connection pipe and sometimes it can partially get through but most of the time it returns with the 86420 error.

If anyone's got any ideas on how to resolve this we'll like to hear them :)

Oh god, heh. This morning I sent letters to all the animals in town in hopes of getting a present in return. The letters contained something like "You're (positive adjective)!" and nothing else because I was running late.

They all called me retarded and mean. I think I did this with the GC AC and forgot about it.

I hate that there is no matchmaking, this is ridiculous.

My brother was absolutly obsessed with the original, and he doesn't really seem to care about this one. I always ask him "Why don't you play it?" and he responds with "I DOOOO!!"

He clearly doesn't. I played the game a little...it seems a little too mediocre for me.
 
I am not showing up on Zaxxon yet, but I'm sure you are just looking for me. Sorry for not providing my code...I'm stupid.
