Is Nookingtons the second upgrade? I got the second store yesterday and he's already remodelling again, he was only open for business for one day. :lol

...actually, IIRC, someone has to visit the town and buy something for the final upgrade, so i guess i won't see nookington's this week...

I just played with a whole bunch of people online via animalcrossinglive.com . We had four at a time for pretty much an hour. It was cool except that everytime somebody entered or left the town we all had to wait for them to load in and out, and a few people were just stopping in to raid the store and leave. I left a bunch of fun stuff for the town owner to find later :D

I wish you could make constellations in your friend's town. At least I managed to nab some apples and a shovel (after 6 days the Nook in my town still never managed to stock one!!)

Well remember it's winter. But I have seen a red flying thing that I always seem to miss and I've managed to dig up a mole cricket, but of course I've failed to catch anything so far, so the exhibit is totally empty. :(
 
I've seen one dung beetle and that's it.

So I've gathered that you'll hear the mole cricket when you walk on it, is the noise loud?

I managed to catch a bee. Never managed that in the GC version so that was exciting. Then I got stung 3x last night trying to duplicate the feat.

bees were super easy to catch on cube... i dunno how it's gonna work out when the inventory screen doesn't pause the game... unless you have two people... hrmm... were you alone?
 
I got hit by the tree choppin mafia while I was asleep! So, now im out for revenge.

I managed to catch a pill bug yesterday, but theres not many bugs around now.

That might be the cockroach. It sits on the tree trunk until you run by, and if you startle it it flies off. I've caught a few of those, a pill bug, no others though
 
Yeah there aren't too many bugs out because of winter. The ones i've seen are:

Pillbug: hit a rock with a shovel and sometimes they pop out

Mole Cricket: listen for a weird vibrated whistling, and dig in the ground to find them. They seem to be hard to catch, whenever I'd dig one up, it'd run away into the water before I could get a net out. Bobby and I teamed up to get a couple of them!

Bee: Shake the trees and sometimes a beehive will fall. Switch to a net before they sting you, and then try to catch as fast as possible (you can still catch them even if they're zooming around your head while you're in the menu screen).

Cockroach: Sitting on tree trunks.

Fly: Leave some garbage (a tire or shoe from fishing works) on the ground, and a while later, a fly will be buzzing around the area.

I have yet to catch a Dung Beetle, but I heard they're supposed to hang out around snowballs.

I managed to do it alone, though the team option sounds intriguing... I basically ran away, realized I can't outrun them and swapped. At least the insurance comes in useful for when I miss!
 
I've never seen a beehive drop when there're others in your town.

You can equip the net and swing while they're buzzing around you. It worked the very first time I tried it, but I've been stung every subsequent try =(
 
Ack, I'm so pissed. I was sitting at work last night and had no time to figure out how to gain membership into Redd's business. DAMMIT, missed a painting and some other shit.

You can choose what day Redd comes to town when you're talking to Lyle about your insurance. To become a member, you have to have at least 3,000 Bell in your inventory. He'll let you buy a membership at that price.

The painting I bought from Redd (scary painting) was accepted by Blathers and is on display in the museum. :D
 
On the off chance that I do get this game and visit someones town/let them visit mine~what are the chances of an animal from my town moving away? That's the one thing I disliked about AC. I don't want my cherished neighbors to move out. ;_; Is there a way to befriend them so much that they'd never leave?

I got the password from one of the villagers, she told it to me when i initiated a conversation, so you'll just have to walk around talking to villagers the next day he shows up until one of them gives you the password.

Wether or not you'll like this one depends what you didn't like about the first one. If you aren't into collecting, creating or exploring, you'll probably never really "get" AC, but if you are you should enjpy it.

Try playing with a friend (particularly a significant other) on the same cart. The AI and conversation peices for the animals in this game are way better than in the GC game, they intiate contests with you and you can listen in on conversations they have with one another, they also seem to have opinions about each other (friends.enemies) and they actually use the stuff you mail them. But the game is still much better with a friend who can see the fun letters you write and stuff you create.

Online is nice but very limited from what I've experienced so far. I played with a bunch of people I didn't know, most of whom were just trying to grab everything they could and leave the town. Some of the GAF members here could give better opinions about the online with friends.

can anyone tell me how the fuck you're meant to bury a shovel to get the golden shovel? I tried today and nothing I did got the shovel in the hole.

Sounds simple enough, but I can't do it. It just keeps placing the shovel at my feet rather than in the hole.

You need two shovels. Equip one and dig a hole. Then go to your inventory and select the "Bury" option from the other one still in your inventory.

ah! I had two shovels all along, but i was unequipping the shovel i used to dig the hole and then trying to bury that, but it only gave a "Place on ground" option.

lol, that's the same thing i'm thinking... wtf... cuz i bought a painting and another item from redd like usual and gave the painting to blathers like i normally would... redd was also selling a white katana or something like that for 80k bells, which i didn't really have on me at the time...

and in more good news today, all my letter spamming has paid off (hopefully!) as one of the villagers sent me an apple! hope it grows...

Question: we can only save up to 8 textures in the entire game?

If so, this is a major feature downgrade. on the GC/N64 version we could have 8 active textures, but we could save many more with the Able Sisters in their catalog so older textures can be archived when not being used.
