It is, you have to link your game via friendcode with the social club and then you can enter the code on the social club website in your pc browser. With your next sync ingame you get your money and stuff I think.

I only checked today but I don't have my copy yet.

Oh dear :lol Just randomly ran onto two crazy things in a row (side mission spoilers):

Jacked a random parked car and
it started a mission where I drove a guy around and we both shot marked cars until they exploded. I only managed a Bronze medal in it. Awesome stuff! Totally happened at random when I jacked a car.

Another happened when I was driving along and saw a blue man-shaped icon on my map. I went over and talked to the guy and
he wanted me to drive him to a porno movie tryout. Huang goes "I've done some awful shit, but I'm not gonna be your fluffer!" Turns out I just had to drive the limo while the banged like 10 girls at once in the back. Was hilarious, the limo rocking the whole way and tons of moans emanating from the back seat.

This game is bad ass. The drug dealing really makes it, though. I hope to god they put that in GTAV.

That's funny, I just had both random things happen in my game as well. I'm really enjoying this game. GTA 2 was my favorite out of all of the GTA's and this one reminds me of it a lot.

* Hard to use both controls and stylus at the same time
* No online multiplayer

Wait, WHAT? Are you kidding me? No online play? The original GTA was the first game I ever went online with on my PC! It was an AWESOME experience, simply AWESOME.

How could they leave that out!

*continues to earnestly wait for my copy to arrive*

I like gtads but I don't like the gimmicky use of stylus controls. For instance, the only way to change weapons is to go through the menu via stylus, and it's really dumb because you should be able to do that without using the stylus. This slows combat down to a halt.

Secondly, when ever you jack a car sometimes you have hotwire it it's really cumbersome moving from d-pad and face buttons to taking out your stylus to hot wire the car. Of course you can use your thumb but that's not ideal either.

Most of this would not be a problem if you were given the option to use traditional controls, like for instance, when using the screw driver move the d-pad in a clock wise and counter-clockwise motion.

Am I doing something wrong?

Finally, I don't like how the cars look in this. In GTA1 and 2 all the cars looked completely distinct from one another. Due to the art style in Chinatown Wars, I can't tell any of the cars apart.

Anything that's basically a button press, like tolls, changing weapons, the mission with the heart monitor, drug trades, just use your thumb. You can even hotwire with your thumb once you get used to it. I only use the stylus for certain things, like molotov creation and lottery tickets.

Oh this game is FUN! Started playing yesterday, did a few missions in order to get the hang of the controls now I'm hooked on drug dealing to buy some of the properties. The game had me laughing a few times, the writing is pretty funny.

And this is very impressive for the DS, lots of geometry and I didn't get any noticeable framerate slowdown.

After spending a little bit of time with the game. Controls are what I hate the most. Being left handed makes simple stuff like changing the radio a chore.

The drug dealing really needs to become a regular feature going forward.

I would go crazy if they added it into GTA4 in the next expansion.

They also brought back the Carnage missions (might be called Rampage in english) where you have a certain time to kill as many people as possible to rack up combos. Those were in the 2d installments but never made it in the 3D ones. Those are triggered when you pick up skulls item, stumbled on one after a drug deal.

Cool thing is that the hidden cameras are marked on your GPS once you destroyed them, this will make finding the last ones with the help of a FAQ much much easier.

EDIT : I HATE YOU PHOTOBUCKET!!!!

I know, my brother. :(

I'm so glad they brought back taxi fares, ambulance missions and other stuff. I'm addicted to exploring like I am with every GTA game and I'm being rewarded for exploring too.

This. I've found quite a few cool things that I had no idea were in the game. Plus the city is brand new to me. It will be really interesting playing GTA4 after this at some point.

Somehow today though I managed to go from like 20k (after a few properties) and now I have about 100 dollars. :/ I kept getting sidetracked while having all my money in drugs then getting busted. Definitely going to start putting some in safe houses from now on as savings.

They were in GTA3. Only thing I'm bothered by though is so far I've only had them where I get a flamethrower.

I got a chainsaw in the one I did but I managed to get the silver medal for it only to die right after. I kept the medal for the event but not the chainsaw >_<.

this worked, thanks. also you have to play a few missions in until you get the ammunition store before it will unlock. it sends a funny email that I guess only people who pre-ordered it get to see.

My God, I'm loving this game so far. The drug dealing mini game is fantastic for making money, and the best thing is that the game will constantly tell you of people selling cheap or wanting to buy, so between missions you feel compelled to just go out of your way a few minutes and make some cash. The controls are for the most part spot on, and the stylus controls are completely unobtrusive and very refreshing. I was completely surprised when I jacked a car in Little Italy today only to find a checkpoint race starting. I probably spent 20 minutes just trying to get the gold on that and was unfortunately cut short by my train arriving. I can't wait to dig deeper into this game, but this is absolutely one of the best games on the DS yet.

I just bought 49 packets of acid for $9000 and sold them for $27,000. Damn you make a LOT of money dealing drugs in this game!

People are using the stylus? I've just been playing with my thumbs, it's way easier like that for 90% of stuff thanks to R* making decent sized buttons.

Same, although some of the buttons like the exit are a bit too small for my thumb and I need to press it 2 or 3 times.

I've only played the first couple of missions, but I am super impressed with this game. The GTA games may vary in overall quality, but Rockstar always does a fantastic job with the level of detail in their games. I never thought it would work so well on the DS, but the game is a blast and really suited to the DS. What a pleasant surprise.

Odd, the box even states: "Nintendo Wi-Fi mode means head to head and co-op multiplayer mayhem".

How do I get rid of waypoints on the GPS you set yourself(not just turn it off but remove it)?

the favourites have an X next to them, same as emails.

Same here, although I use my finger instead sometimes. The only stylus bits seem to be slashing the door lining and tattooing.
I actually got busted whilst I was slashing a drugs van, and lost about 20,000k worth of heroin! It's nice how the world keeps going during the touch screen sections.

I agree, it adds a bit of tension. Trying to hotwire a car while cops are after you for example.

This is really impressive stuff. I think I'll say "I told you so, NeoGAF!".

I told you so, NeoGAF!

Put these guys on a Wii GTA. Seriously. This is how you develop your game specifically for your target system.

I find it works best when I hold the stylus in my lips like a cigarette.

I've always done this and not just for GTA. If I start drooling I just put it behind my ear.

Ok gaffers, my brother and I have a 15 hour car ride and were looking for a good multiplayer game for the road.

If we both got copies of the game would we have a good experience?

I'm southpaw and I manage just fine, I use my right hand, not like you are writing anything, it's just quick strokes and movements.

Not sure haven't played it but its described on the site. They only describe 3 modes though so no idea what the other three are. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

http://www.rockstargames.com/chinatownwars/view/article:multiplayer_details
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars features an online component that allows you to instant message your friends and trade information and items. You can send and receive map waypoints for hidden items and special locations to your friends, and trade weapons, money or street product to enhance each other’s single player experience.

Head-to-Head and Co-op multiplayer is available locally via Wi-Fi and features 6 different modes to play. See below for details on three of them, with more information coming soon.

Race
Compete against your friend in a no-holds-barred race to the finish line on one of 20 different courses scattered around Liberty City. In the Death Race variation of this mode you earn laps by killing your opponent instead of racing, and upgrades are littered throughout the course to help you gain a competitive edge over your opponent.

Stash Dash
Steal the van, deliver it, and stash the cash. Sounds simple — but your opponent wants the same van and the same cash. Once you’ve taken control of the target van, you need to get it back to the safe house, all the while being chased and smashed by your opponent. The more the van is damaged, the less cash you get on delivery.

Defend the Base
Team up in one of 8 co-operative scenarios and defend your turf against waves of enemy gang members. Enemies will attack specific targets, such as vehicles, and each wave will become progressively harder to eliminate.

I pre-ordered the game last sunday from Play.com and got it in today.

I was suprised to get it so soon. I played a few missions to get some of the features to open and I like it sofar.

Funny when this game was announced, I always thought it would also be multiplayer based online. You know, Chinatown wars.

However, I'm more of a singleplayer fan with these type of games.
