The Order: 1886 new gifs and info

Some people don't want to be linked, but I'd start with reading Shinobi's twitter.

He says the game is in good shape, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will launch this year. Seems like he doesn't have launch information.

Obviously the could game could be delayed. But I don't see any reason to assume it will.

He did say it won't be on anyone's 2014 GOTY list.

It's pure personal opinion, but yes, I've been saying it for a while now, I was very confused by the Driveclub project. I just feel like there are lots of games that fit into that same exact niche. GRID, Need for Speed, Forza Horizon, and I feel like all three of those games are more appealing to me. So for me Driveclub just occupies this strange no man's land, and I'm a big racing game fan.

Motorstorm on the other hand is unique in this day and age. I would love to see them make one of those on the PS4, or something else more over the top and unrealistic.

Sony shouldn't have green lit Driveclub because of Forza Horizon?

It's getting beyond ironic the amount of supposed "big racing fans" there are that don't want more than 2 or 3 racing games a year. There's 2 or 3 FPS games released a month!

It's ironic how I might spend a year playing through a GT or a Forza and yet I'll only play Wolfenstein for a week or two.

It's also ironic how I have no trouble playing 10 different iOS games a month but would find that impossible for numerous reasons with, say FPS or even more so with my favorite genre, RPGs.

He's saying he didn't think the game should be green lit, that it shouldn't exist. Even if you don't have time to play all the games I your favourite genre, you must be happy they exist to keep variety in said genre?

Sure.

Your wording now indicates that you think there might be people who can't play more than 2 or 3 racers a year and that that opinion doesn't garner your irony :)

I wonder if their success in terms of sales has had any bearing on their motivation to get exclusives out.

I see no reason to believe that. The writing was on the wall last E3, when the only brand new IP Sony revealed on stage was The Order. That was when I began talking about that being a worrying sign. Now a year later it seems pretty apparent to me they really fucked up at some point a couple years ago, when planning/decisions for PS4 projects began.

If they had just delayed one PS3 game from last year, such as God of War, I think it would have helped immensely. That game came off as a little rushed, and it was even pushing the PS3 beyond it's limits at times. They could have had that game out at launch for PS4, and something like Killzone could have been pushed to this Spring, and Infamous could have been this fall. All those games would have benefitted from the additional dev time, and their PS4 year one lineup would look a lot stronger.

I buy a lot of racing games. The GRID games have a fantastic presentation, and lively AI. NFS games are over the top arcade action. Forza Horizon is open world with a slick presentation and lots to see and do.

Driveclub doesn't seem to excel at any one thing. It's selling point is that you can join "clubs", and be part of a team. I've never seen a single person request such a feature, and it doesn't come off as the least bit inspired.

I only have so much racing interest to go around, and those three games will easily fill my needs.

Do you know what genre of racing is almost non existent these days? Off road racing. Water racing. That's why I'd welcome a well produced entry in those categories.

You might be right, I do wonder, though.

Not that it affects me at all. I have more than enough to play between replaying favorites on 360 and PS3 along with a steady one or two games a month on the PS4.

I think it's a factor -- Sony isn't really pressed to release exclusives as soon as possible since third parties can carry the weight.

IMHO, it's a good thing...because I don't think games should be rushed. Rushing causes Killzone 3's....or Resistance 2's...

I'd rather they take the time with their exclusives and make them world class instead of putting them out there in order to help spur console sales.

Let's hope their success doesn't lead to apathy or arrogance (again).

I'd love to see some $30 games (or thereabouts) where they didn't have to stick to the "It's ready when it's ready rule" too closely to fill in the gaps in the schedule.

As long as they keep investing in exclusive games, I don't really care how long they take to come out.

I do agree with BruiserBear that their late-gen PS3 strategy wasn't a good idea.

Sure, you need some big titles -- TLOU as an example, but I think some games like Puppeteer, GoW:A, Beyond, or GT6 should have really been transitioned to next-gen instead of last-gen.

They severely underestimated next-gen adoption, imho...and it's hurting them now in the short term, but once their studios start cranking I expect to see great things in 2015 and beyond and they shouldnt have nearly as big of a dry spell

When I was 12 on a school camp the bus driver deliberately drove us a through a street of the city we were in that was synonymous with prostitues, one of the hookers mooned us. :)

Thank goodness, I thought you were going to tell us what you did with your flute.

OT: If this is delayed to make it better, then great. CoD, FIFA, Battlefield and whatever will keep the masses buying PS4s, and I'll be happy with the AA and indie stuff for another year. I still have a PS3 backlog to play, not every game has to be a brand new, if I haven't played it, it's new enough. Also the Steam Summer Sale will probably add to my already stupidly-long PC list of games I should probably play at some point. Too many gamers want newnewnew, dip into your gaming history a bit during the quiet launches, there's plenty to see you through.

I used to buy every movie magazine going, watched movies on release and quivered with hype waiting for new stuff. Now I ignore all that, check Netflix and see 'Oh, that's out I'll watch that now'.

I'd love to be able to do the same with videogames, but I think I've found a happy ground between HYPE! and being patient and happy with what I already have, so it's all good.

I don't agree that I did that at all.

I would imagine the mindshare of which is better is the most important aspect, which I think is made up of many elements, one of which is exclusives.

The masses aren't talking about the Order (or even Halo) yet, they're looking forward to CoD - which PS4 is likely going to have the best console version - and PS4 Minecraft, in my experience. Whoever has the best version of those will get the sales.

Incredibly disappointed about the delay. Was VERY excited to have a game like this in the fall. It would've fulfilled my crave for a next-gen Uncharted-type game nicely.

I love racing games. If I had to manage with just EA and code master output it would be terrible.

Drive Club is the only first party game releasing in Fall this year?

Say what?...

I was a massive fan of Sony's first party and that's the reason I bought a PS4 but after playing Infamous and Killzone (and even some of the late gen PS3 exclusives),both of which are by far the worst of their respective series I can't help but feel disappointed,I hope The Order is great whenever it comes out.

Sonys never took the xbox route and killed their previous console the moment the next one is annouced. They aways support it and support it well, unlike ms that kick it to the curb. Games will come on ps4 id rather they supported the last teo years of my ps3 like they did then hold all those back for ps4.

Say what?...[/QUOTE]

Still not as bad couple of years ago PlayStation All Stars was all Sony had.

They have good years and really really bad years for holiday releases which is basically dictated by whenever a Uncharted is out.

Plus Sony love releasing big games in March so something always gets pushed to fill that slot and I wouldn't be shocked if TLOU has them trying out more June releases now meaning even less holiday releases.

I know it's hard to tell what Sony's first party line is going be now. I know E3 right around the corner, but I can't remember A big exclusive announced at E3 then released 5 months later. It felt like The Order was their big exclusive for this Fall now it is delayed. Maybe they got a big third party exclusive for this Fall

It is?
Official statement from SONY / Ready at Dawn, pease?!

TLoU being so huge last year might mean that they feel they can bump The Order to spring 2015 to give it the time it needs, with TLoU HD covering for it - both TPS at a basic level at least. If they have a couple of smaller titles to announce at E3 for fall, that would help too.

It would be disappointing but I wouldn't mind The Order in spring 2015, and Uncharted later on in the fall

Sony's exclusive output has been utterly, utterly dreadful this generation.

What a shambles.

Utterly, utterly predictable, yes. But not utterly, utterly dreadful.

But it's the beginning of the generation, the time when they need to play it safe. The content will undoubtedly get more interesting as the generation rolls on.

TLOU Remastered is a port of a year old game and it's releasing pretty soon, with rumors being in June. It doesn't really make up for it.

While I usually get upset at people who have seemingly never been through a console launch, I do have to disagree with this. The first year is usually when the most unique stuff arrives, the testing of the waters, the new IP, the taking of a chance.

Two of the games people are using to argue the Xbox One's exclusive lineup for fall is better have literally not been announced yet. If Microsoft can have some games up their sleeve, so can Sony.

If it's delayed to 2015, what else do Sony have this holiday? They wouldn't delay their only fall title (other than Driveclub) so either this is bullshit or Sony have something unannounced releasing this fall.

Last Guardian and Agent double pack?

Different people attach different value to different things.

Don't get me wrong, Halo collection is a big deal especially if multi is ported. What I am saying is it makes sense for a remaster collection to be announced 6 months before release, but it doesn't for a brand new big title.

Sony won't announce it a high calibur title at E3 that would release this fall. It would have been announced early this year at minimum.

They have Destiny, AC and CoD and those will shift systems.

I would have loved The Order this year personally, but if it needs more time in the oven I won't complain. They should take the time they need.

Shinobi is very much trusted.

By who ? Why would Shinobi know anything ? Do devs frequently leak info to college kids who spend a lot of time on Twitter ?

IF The Order is delayed then questions really need to be asked of Sony. Driveclub as your only first party Q4 exclusive going into the consoles 2nd Xmas would be woeful.

If QB gets delayed this is probably the worst year for first party output I can think of in forever.

I'm thinking the same. The June rumour for TLOU would make me think Sony are putting it out to combat the Kinectless XB1 bump, but perhaps (if the June rumour is true and this delay rumour is true) Sony may take the hit in June and move TLOU into the The Order spot. I'm guessing there is another title or two we are not aware of yet. And I wouldn't underestimate the buzz PSNow will create and (people may laugh) the Singstar factor, especially in Europe.

1. This has nothing do with who's line-up is better

2. Unless it's a remaster which needs no hype and is not big budget. Not the same thing, Sony's not going to have one of it's big studios show a game at E3 then drops 5 months later. The point is if The Order is delayed what would replace it as the big exclusive for Fall. The one thing I could think of is having a big third party exclusive

Are people really this forgetful? Do you remember that PS4 reveal event? They announced Knack, Kilzone, inFamous, Driveclub, and Deep Down there. They also used other events to spread out their announcements.

Go back and look at those events. You'll learn something.
