The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Feb 28th is a Tuesday. That makes perfect sense really. Most new games come out that day. Nintendo is the only company that seems to love Sunday launches.

I'm a believer. Now to save up for the 3G unit, largest memory card, plus the 10+ launch titles i want. ugh, broke city here i come. :p

Hold up, I'm coming with you.

If you have a phone that acts as a wifi hotspot I would say there's no need for the 3g version.
I'm planning my next iPhone contract with the Vita in mind. Really hope Three keep their all you can eat data package for the new phone when it's announced!

That February 28 date is, while disappointing, perfectly viable. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Sounds plausible. It'll just sneak into their fiscal year for financial reports too to help give them a boost for their books.

I wonder what (1) non-holiday demand will be like in US (and EU); how much would the numbers differ if people gave/received for Christmas; (2) How many of the games will be localized from the Japan launch and if we'll have a better library on release because of the delay; (3) what supply will look like if the demand in JPN is sky-high. Will there be a shortage of hardware for US buyers with cash ready?

are the select/start button sticking out? if it's sticking out i wish they rethink the placement. Don't want to hit it when i play. i'm glad they moved the power button. i hated when i played psp i would hit the switch and turn it off. sometimes i would accidentally power it off instead of standby. which sucked hard if i'm playing a game i didn't save.

testing on psp probably not easy. i like the placement of the buttons on psp now along the bottom of the screen. should have placed it there i guess.

EDIT: wait. where's the mic?

I don't even know how a person would normally hit it, since it's one of those buttons that appears to be flush with the rest of the system and would require a good push.

I thought they changed the location of the memory stick slot in the TGS models, or at least that's what an online manual on Sony's(?) JP site suggested.

L5 are still old school anti-multiplatform.

I think it's The Time Travelers because the game's target audience seems to be aiming a lot older than say Inazuma Eleven, or something. It appears to be very much a teenager game, which is a large part of the PlayStation demographic. I also remember the game's director being very excited about NGP back in February.

Hm...

I wonder which launch titles are the most import-friendly.

I only understand a basic amount of Japanese. I can't read Kanji :(

I know I am going to grab Katamari, but I wonder what else? The RPGs are out of the question.

So are the front and back cameras the same?

I'm pretty disappointed in how weak the back camera is, didn't think Sony would skimp on that.

They're supposed to be for augmented reality games, not to replace your Sony Cybershot (tm) camera.

what do you call the XMB? ex-emm-bee?

Yes. Do you refer to it as the Cross Media Bar at all times?

If you like fighters you could try BlazBlue Extend and Marvel vs Capcom Ultimate. I think maybe Virtua Tennis 4 wouldn't be so hard either..

Not a fan of either of those fighting games. It is a shame that Tekken isn't a launch title.

Everybody's Golf Next and Uncharted are a good possibility. Uncharted most likely has English as an option, if it isn't already set to that by default.

Also I'm sure people have pointed this out before but the TGS PS Vita's are also cosmetically different from the older ones shown at prior events, or at least that's how it appears to me.

Wait, wat? New version looks horrible, everything looks plasticky and tacky compared to the sleek old version. They've even made the already small buttons smaller and made them opaque, yuck.

Wait... GPS feature only with 3G? How does that even qualify as a built-in GPS?!

Apparently here under specifications tab 3G is listed as a feature also in the Wi-Fi only Vita model.

Who is wrong?
IGN?

Sony put 2 more TGS sizzle reels on Japanese PSN. Dynasty Warriors is going to have way too much screen touching, judging from the video.

Here are the 2 reels on youtube

Ugh, had it been mentioned before that Disgaea 3 will be 6090 yen? At least the download is a little cheaper... :\

Edit: Tennis is the only other one with a price. And MvC isn't listed for download :lol

There are slight differences, especially for buttons, sticks, and D-pad (for the better), but I'm not sure of they're reflect real hardware changes or merely better software-generated renderings :P

IGN is wrong, the Wi-Fi unit uses Skyhook Wireless's Wi-Fi bouncing technology for a less accurate GPS system.
