Yea, I would like that. I love XMB for the most part.

Talking to one of the guys working at the ps vita booth he mentioned that the there are going to be some
titles with cross-play multiplayer with the ps3 he also mentioned that the UI vita is customizable to a degree,
he also mentioned there might be an option to switch back to the classical XMB interface for the device as well.

One of the main reasons I went to Eurogamer for is to try this out, with the hardware itself I was disappointed it felt so light and cheap and plastic, looking at the system made me think it was more heavy and made with more quality materials but it was the opposite.
regular since 3G will only work if you're in japan.Wehrwolf said:Speaking as someone who barely uses cel phones (and so I hardly even know exactly what 3G means):

Should I get the regular or 3G version?

In an interview with Weekly Famitsu this week, Sony Computer Entertainment president Hiroshi Kawano disclosed that the system was originally planned for a December 3 release -- 12/3. They opted for the 17th, giving up up on the cute number play along the way, in order to make sure they'd have enough hardware stock for the release.
Kawano assured that Sony is putting its full effort in preparing hardware stock for launch.
Also in the Famitsu interview, Kawano emphasized that vita is a game machine first and foremost -- it's not a smartphone. He said that Sony sided with NTT DoCoMo as the system's Japanese 3G provider because of the stability of NTT's network.

One of the main reasons I went to Eurogamer for is to try this out, with the hardware itself I was disappointed it felt so light and cheap and plastic, looking at the system made me think it was more heavy and made with more quality materials but it was the opposite. However the screen looks incredible and vibrant and much better than my HDTV at home. The sheer size of the screen also impressed me, seriously people who may not usually like handhelds due to small screen should check this out, with a 5" screen under a meter away from your face makes the screen look huge and you can see all the nice details of a game. I also checked out the viewing angles by tilting the Vita, and the viewing angles are just insane, the screen looks sexy at all angles.
As for the analogs sticks, I instantly hated them, I thought the sticks would be as accurate and as comfotable as standard sticks on PS3/360., but the sticks are tiny and you can't make small tilting movements as big analogs sticks as the micro sticks are not long enough to pivot as much as larger sticks. However after some getting used to the sticks with Uncharted, I started loving the micro sticks, it just takes 3 mins to adjust, it is much better than 3DS slider (which I had trouble using when playing Mario Land and RE), this is obviously the best analog sticks I have ever used on a portable, it just takes some getting used.
Another thing I tested is the back touch, I wanted to see if it was possible to acccidently touch the backtouch, while holding the Vita I barely touched the back touch by accident so the back touch works well, playing LittleBigPlanet, I got to use the back touch, and it is so easy to switch between traditional controls to touchscreen/backtouch controls, when using the back touch in LittleBigPlanet, a cursor is shown on the screen so I know exactly where I am touching which is nice. As for Uncharted using the touchscreen is actually quite responsive though I prefer traditional controls. Switching between touchscreen and traditional controls is natural, I use traditional controls to move around, aim and shoot, while I use the touch screen for melee attacks, picking up weapons and etc.
As for the graphics of the Vita, it really did feel like a PS3 on my hands and the OLED screen just improves the quality of the visuals. Playing Uncharted on Vita was breathtaking, the graphics just looked insane, I was even impressed with LittleBigPlanet, and how close it looked in comparison to the PS3 version. All in all, with the Vita, I was impressed with the screen (size and quality), graphics, controls (touch and traditional), the only thing that disappointed me was how cheap and light the system felt. Note I also asked the rep what video formats the Vita plays, he said it doesn't support MKVs, but supports other formats like AVI's, MPG's and etc.
EhrgeizVII said:I read the PS Vita's at Eurogamer Expo were actually shells plugged into a dev kit under the table. So the device you'll be unpacking in a couple months shouldn't feel cheap and plastic at all.
Great King Bowser said:I asked one of the reps about this and they told me otherwise. She said they were real units, just without a battery installed. Who to believe...
Access to PSN when on the move as well as the full functionality of NEAR spring to mind as well, though I don't think they've put everything together in a comparison list as of yet.Effect said:Has Sony given a list of things (in order to sell the 3G version) one would be able to use the 3G for outside of the obvious but perhaps limited web browsing, email, Twitter/Facebook/etc?

So, with the Vita being Region free, can't we just buy from the Europe store?Takao said:I skimmed through the article, and just realized that the Disgaea 3 port costs more money to buy than Army Corps of Hell (a brand new game), lol NIS.
Unfortunately, DMPrince is likely right with what'll happen on US PSN. There will be a few cool cat publishers who charge $5-$10 less, but I don't think that'll be the norm.

If so, I don't think even Gamestop will block Sony on this. Their power is diminishing, and they too have realized that DD is the future, creating their own system for it. Instead I predict getting deals like "you can buy it here, or buy this code and get it for 10 dollars off!" at Gamestop until DD moves in completely.

Sony confirmed that some games may require a memory card.toleoring said:on the bottom left of the package, it says "memory card required (sold separately)"
but back in GDC2011, SCE confirmed every Vita game card contains rewritable space (5%~10% of the total) for save data, patches and DLCs
did i miss something?

The Demon King himself, writing at the game's official Twitter, responded to a question about the matter from a follower with "You fool! Being confused by such an image... the package version does not need a Memory Card."
Number45 said:I wonder if they posted the boxart for the PSN version by mistake? Good news anyway, because if a memory card was needed for what seems like a fairly standard game it wouldn't have boded well for future games.
I meant in terms of setting a precedent for customer perception for that initial cost of the device. As of right now (or in a few months) you could go into a store, buy a Vita and a game from the store shelf and you'd be fine - given the high cost of memory card I think that's an important thing to get right from the off.Thunderbear said:Moot point but not really. First generation games are generally the ones that are more likely to contain idiosyncrasies not found when the console is a bit more established and developers are used to the guide-lines. Hence why we got a confused message like this to begin with. Things on the hardware front can change up until fairly close to launch, and developers have to act quick.
