Fantastic.
Figured this had a big enough fan base that this was thread-worthy.

Thought this was gonna be the one with the Gorilla.

Not these guys lol!

These guys wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds against the Boogieman.

Seriously this show is pretty damn good until it devolves into the Slimer show in later seasons and even season 3 the show started to get a lot more safe and less interesting as they totally destroyed Jeanine's character and even changed her voice to make her softer. Though it led to a really good episode later on.

You, sir, rock. This is excellent!

Everything after S4 is marginal to crappy anyway, and I had the box set... Wish I kept the firehouse part :(

Man, I got to get on this tonight. I just bought the blu rays for the two ghostbusters movies a few months ago and have been itching to watch the cartoon again.

A few years ago, I tried to make my son (who was 6 at the time) watch the Boogieman episode, and now he won't give it another try. oops.

That was when the main creative force behind the show, J. Michael Straczynski, left in protest.

Yeah, the ratings started to fall and Straczynski was eventually asked if he wanted to return for the latter seasons. He was busy with other things at the time, but did agree to write a few episodes. "Janine, You've Changed" was one of them, and specifically meant as a FU to the executives who mandated those changes.

It was also some pretty blunt commentary on how women are expected to act, talk and look. Not the ground you usually treaded on for a children's cartoon of this era.

Been on wishlist since 2015. I think it was around $80 when I added it.... or $120 maybe, no where near $376 though.

It's not worth that. Geez, I'm as big a fan as anyone, but c'mon... How much will the Full House box set fetch in 5 years? It has a cool box, too

This show was also probably the first real introduction I ever had to H.P. Lovecraft, The Necronomicon and Cthulhu

I'm planning on watching it over this weekend. It has been so long since I watched it.

I watched the box set with my daughter last year. The slapstick Slimer shirts were 100% trash and there's a pretty steep loss of altitude towards the end, but over all it holds up fucking fantastic. Amazing show, probably the best cartoon the 80's produced.

Disney needs to get on putting all their 80s shows on Netflix

nobody's going out and buying goof troop dvds

I'll have to check it out. I loved the show when I was little, but I couldn't tell you a single plot point from it because I was so young. (Same thing with Ninja Turtles really) I remember a thread around the 2016 movie where people claimed that it was really disturbing and I was like "huh?".

Extreme Ghostbusters is next hopefully. I love that series so much.

That show got away with some fucking shit. That episode with the Stephen King knock off and the fictional characters come to life was some straight up Hell Raiser meets Lovecraft shit.

Knock, Knock was one I had on VHS and watched all the time.
Still a messed up episode and still has my favorite quote "Soon, the whole world will smell just like your socks."

Amazing to see it's written by Babylon 5 creater JMS.
Also, man cartoons moved fast back then (in terms of plot).

Edit: itwasTuesday gets it!

Oh shizzle.. I am gonna call my dad tomorrow and throw that in his face. Hes a huge Babylon 5 fan (liked watched each series 4x times to the end) and dismisses anything animation.

It's so crazy that I remember all the music. Not just the theme song, but all the little background music. Fuckin' love Ghostbusters so much hahahaha

Gonna binge on this all night. Starting with episode 1. So much nostalgia now and those creature designs are as good as ever. Love the variety.
